Well considering he's become somewhat of a cult figure in pop culture, I think he is deserving of a thread in his honour.

I've been a fan of the James Bond movies since I was just a kid, and have always loved Bond's unfailing ability to save the day in that super-suave manner. Even if the new Bond movies are a departure from the original Bond formal perfected by Goldfinger (my personal favorite), they still bring something new to the prolific series by returning him to his roots in Ian Fleming's novels. Connery is personally my favorite Bond, but I have a soft spot for the slap-stick that is the Moore Bond, and I appreciate the dark qualities of Craig's Bond, even if Dalton did do that first.

Discuss:
What is your favorite Bond film and why?
Do you prefer Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan or Craig as Bond and why?
And for those who like a deeper discussion: What are you views on his politics? What do you think Bond stands for? Is he truly a hero or is no better than the villains he fights? How does our perception of the character of Bond change when we watch a different actor portray him?

I have been wanting to see the older James Bond movies, and I have found that I like Connery and Brosnan the best. Connery, I think, is James Bond, however, unlike the others, whom I think are wanna-be Bonds. (Going off tangent here, but, personally, I think Connery looks better now than he did when he was younger...) Connery, essentially, made Bond what the character is. Not to mention the fact that Connery is British, which helps to add to the suaveness that he portrays through Bond. Brosnan, too, is British, but Connery made it all.

Actually, Connery isn't British. He's Welsh/Scottish or something, which is pretty much close enough anyway. Connery did make the film-version of the character of Bond, for sure, but if you look closely at each actor's different performance, each Bond is as distinct as the next. Connery balances dry wit with suaveness, Moore plays it for laughs, Dalton plays it dark, and Brosnan plays it cool. I think Brosnan is almost channelling Connery in his performance, which is what I think makes him so popular.

I personally think the Craig is the best Bond, in that he's closer to Flemming's Bond in the novels. I think that although some of the older films are good, a lot of them is far too caught up in the superman and sexism. I like the newer films, and Craig didn't even sleep with the main 'Bond girl' in Quantum of Solace which was a relief, it gets pretty tired very quickly.

I love James Bond films for all their cheesy, thrilling glory. My favorites are Craig and Dalton, because they embodied the serious, darker aspect of James Bond that I remember from the novels. Dalton wasn't terrific at it, but he was always my favorite until Craig came along. Connery is third, while Brosnan and Moore are kind of boring to me. I've never seen Lazenby in action.

Like many "Best of James Bond" lists, Goldfinger is my favorite. It's just a classic.

I'm not sure what my favorite Bond movie is, but I think of Connery as the classic Bond.

I'm a Connery-Bond fan. Moore did a pretty good job, too, but the others after them... they just didn't have that sophisticated 50's charm the first two had. And yes, I'm just flat-out ignoring Lazenby.

My favorite Bond movie is 'Diamonds Are Forever', no doubt about it. Most likely has to do with Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd, but all that's going on keeps my attention focused more than any other Bond film as well. Next would be 'Goldfinger' (interesting, and contains one of the best weapons ever), then 'You Only Live Twice'.

Personally I liked Pierce Brosnan's James Bond, but I recently watched Licence to Kill, and I think that Dalton is a close second. But to this day I cannot get used to Daniel Craig as James Bond. When I first saw the trailer for Casino Royale it had me asking myself, "where's james bond in this movie??"
