Slave. Ellie didn't understand the term. No...that wasn't right. She understood it...she didn't understand the WHY. Why let someone else do something for you, when you could do it yourself? Why force someone weaker...That wasn't what Sparda taught. But...Ugh. The cub shook her head and lay flat on the rock she'd 'perched' on.
This was making her head hurt, thinking about it. She'd ask...someone later. Not her mother. Her mother seemed as confused as her sometimes. Maybe...maybe one of her half-brothers! Yes...she'd ask one of them!

The heat of the sun was dominating - irritating the healed over scars at the wild dog's sides. The dig sat and licked at the scars that lay evenly down his side to sooth them with his almost dry tongue. Wandering away would almost mean death for him.
Hesitantly, as Koin was taking his time for his tasks, he peered around. A black figue was laying upon a rock, but he didn't see anyone else around. His heart was beating almost wildly. He had learned fast that the darker the coat - the crueler the lion. His drooped ears feld against his head, almost hoping the young lioness hadn't spotted him.

Ellie blinked and tilted her head at the white and red fur she saw. Turning to catch a better look, she smiled. A slave! After all...it was too pale to be a demon, and wasn't shaped like a lion...The only non-lion she knew was a demon was Cousin-Brother Bavu, and he was half-lion! Perhaps it could answer her questions about slaves!
She bounded through the grasses, ignoring the heat. She was a demon! What was a little heat? "You're one of the slaves, right? I got questions! And Mommy can't answer them, not really..."

Koin, noticing the lion had spotted him, gave his fate up, and decided to comply to the wishes of the black and gold lioness. She bounded towards him through the small tufts of grass, and he waited. This lioness was smaller than his captor, but one could not judge, really.
When the lioness spoke to him, he was slightly taken aback. "I am," he answered "What are your questions, Miss?" Koin answered politely. Even if the small lioness could not kill him, she could obviously tell her mother and he was rather far from the borders of the pride.
Koin's ears were still drooped in an almost defeated manner, but he stayed sitting, determined not to show his new fearfound of felines.

Why did he look so...scared? Was this what mother meant when she said the slaves were kept in line? Ellie pouted. "I'm very, very confused...Why are you a slave, and not a demon? I mean...you're kinda pale, but you've got red! And...what are you? You're not a lion...or a half-lion like Cousin-Brother Bavu..."
The cub looked highly confused, golden eyes looking up at the wild dog in a very...wide-eyed, non-demon way.

"I... don't know. I don't know the customs, really. I suppose is't just felines. I'm a dog, I don't think dogs have demons," He answer uncertainly. He looked down into the lioness' orange eyes for a moment. She looked so innocent...

Ellie pouted. Well...that wasn't much of an answer. And...a dog? "So...you're a dog?" She was curious. Curious about this strange slave, curious about how he got to the pride. "How'd you get here? I mean...everyone got here somehow! Like...Mommy carried my siblings and I in her belly! And she came here with the Sparda Aran'shale!"

Koin have a slight nod of his head. "Yes, I'm a dog. I used to be a wanderer, a wayfarer, a traveler, whatever you want to call me. But I wandered into the lands and was captured, which makes me a slave," Koin told the lioness. She was a curious little thing - Koin could almost smile.

"A...wanderer. What's it like outside the pride lands? Mother won't tell me, and all the others won't either...if they know." Ellie had noticed the demons tended to be...insular. Most didn't leave. And the one she knew did...well Ellie hadn't managed to talk to him yet. She wanted to talk to him though!
"Who captured you? Did...did they give you the scars on your leg?"

Koin's eyes sparkled when he thought of 'outside.' Outside the pride, in the outlands. He smiled a bit. "It's beautiful. But I suppose I'm biased, a little. It doesn't constantly smell of blood and the sky just seems bluer..." He comment, before blinking in suprise.
"I apologize, Miss, I didn't mean to speak poorly of your home..." He said in a light whisper. "The one who capture me did indeed give me these scars as I fought to escape."

Ellie shook her head. "Just...don't let the grown-ups catch ya talkin' like that! But me...I won't tell. You're from outside...so it's probably lots different there than here, so yer not used to it." Now Ellie...Ellie rather liked the sky as it was. Any bluer...and Ellie was sure she'd get a headache. "So...who got you? One of the grown-ups?" Ellie couldn't really imagine someone her age bringing him in. After all...he WAS bigger than her.

"It is different," He agreed in a soft voice. Though... nothing looked pretty when one is looking at it from a caged prospective. "Thank you," he told her, really hoping the lioness wouldn't tell.
"Um... Nyota captured me," he refused to tell her that it was when the lion was just a bit older then she. "I'm a lover, not a fighter, you know?" he said in way of explaining.

Ellie nodded. "You're welcome!" Demon or not, she knew her manners. After all, demons were better than other mortals. So they had to hold themselves to higher standards.
At his answer, Ellie's eyes grew wide. "Big half-brother caught you? Wow..." Her favorite half-brother seemed full of surprises. "I'm a fighter! But Mommy's teaching me how to pick my fights. That way...when I really need my strength, it's there!" She play growled and bounced a bit, as if to prove a point.

Koin gave a small nod - of course the little lioness was a fighter. She was quite adorable, he had to admit, as he watched her play growl. "Picking your fight is important, I should think," He smiled. He hadn't known how to pick his fights - he probably should have run, but he stayed an fought instead.
It was why he was in the Aikanaro'hini now. He had to admit, it wasn't terrible so far. Nyota even sought that he got healed before the gashed got infected.

Ellie giggled. "Yup!" Then she wrinkled her nose. "But not ev'rybody knows that. It's sad. Mommy tells me there are some demons who don't know how to pick their fights. They just...Fight." SHE was better than that. Usually. "What good is strength if you don't know how to use it?" She liked this guy! He was fun to talk to!
