March 26, 2009: UN passes international law that would make it a criminal act to defame, or in other words, slur, villianize, discredit or speak evil of Islam.
Now, as any Muslim, I do not enjoy people insulting my faith. I'm sure that goes for any believer of their religion. I respect that and I try to respect other people's religions and beliefs, no matter how strange it seems to me.
But to make it an international law? I find that to be a curb on human rights. Allah (swt) gave us the intelligence and gift of speech to choose what we say and how we say things. Why should we have this law to restrict human freedom of speech that Allah (swt) so tenderly gave us?
Here is the article from the Jerusalem Post
And if you don't believe the Israelis, here is another source
What bothers me the most is that this law is so vague that it could be very, very easy to abuse. People should be able to criticize our faith, and we should be able to do the same to theirs. It's part of learning about one another; we see weaknesses in other people's faiths and they can explain how it is a strength to them, and people should be able to say the same thing to Islam, without fear of being persecuted or attacked.
I fear for the non-Muslims, I fear for Muslims who may be attacked, or jailed or maligned in any sort of way because people wish to reflect on Islam in different ways. And it is sad that the law only applies to Muslims and not all people of all different beliefs. This law only serves to isolate Muslims and non-Muslims, rather than unify people in protection of their religious beliefs. On the second article you see in my post, there is a long list of organizations that opposed this law, and there are MANY MUSLIM ORGANIZATIONS THAT OPPOSED THE CREATION OF THIS LAW.
The eleven countries that voted "no" on this law are: Canada, Chile, France, Germany, Netherlands, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and Italy, while 13 abstained, including Bosnia, Brazil, and Mexico.
Abstaining countries were: Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Ghana, India, Japan, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mexico, South Korea, Uruguay, and Zambia.
The most known country that supported this vote was Pakistan. 22 other countries supported this decision.

I wouldn't support it simply because it's already been foretold that Islam will suffer problems in the future, Also I find that supporting the law won't prove to be effective because it will only help in giving Anti-Islamic people to blame Islam for this or that. Along with that would be the simple fact of just awaiting the savior rather than resorting to violence (Such as the Taliban).

Haydar Al-Sidq Also I find that supporting the law won't prove to be effective because it will only help in giving Anti-Islamic people to blame Islam for this or that. Along with that would be the simple fact of just awaiting the savior rather than resorting to violence (Such as the Taliban). Well its more of the resorting to violence that has me worried. Because the resorting to violence is what brings most anti-Muslim people together. It's what makes most normal people fear Islam, and it makes Muslims scared too. I'm sick of hearing and seeing the abuses of human rights in Muslim countries, simply because someone differs in opinion.

Only Allah (SWT) knows what will happen in the near future and beyond that, So basically from how things are going it's basically gonna keep going downhill so long as Majority Islamic countries such as Jordan, Syria, or Egypt continue to be both corrupt and don't do anything to help their fellow Muslim Brethren.

White_Star_Powers OMG That's soo nice xd Is it only at USA??? wink It would be soo cool! People would stop bullying and everying! When it is against the law! Yaay xd UN= United Nations. Means the world, the people who abide by the Geneva convention. USA wasn't even participating in the vote, and I'm even sure if its still a part of the UN right now.
What I don't understand is why curbing human rights in the name of Allah (swt) is such a good thing. I don't more groups that support extremist Islam gaining support from such a law. I don't want to see more nations rise under dictators such as the Taliban rise and call themselves righteous Muslims.

curbing means???
Are u saying it's against human rights?
I personally think that it is a human right not to harsh. That new law, is human rights. And if u are against those rules, then u are against equality.

Devanam When some billion and a half adhere to the pathological belief of Islam and use it as their marching order of life, the rest of humanity can ignore the threat only at its own peril. Once again, a resurgent Islam is on a campaign of conquest throughout the world. Hordes of life-in-hand foot-solider fanatical Muslims are striving to kill and get killed. All they want is the opportunity to discharge their homicidal-suicidal impulse, on their way to Allah’s promised glorious paradise. And in the background granting the foot-soldiers’ wishes are their handlers, the puppeteers, who pull the strings and detonate these human bombs. It seems either UN HRC has joined the band wagon or they too are under threat. Those who cherish life must recognize these emissaries of death, what makes them, what motivates them, and how best to defend against them. The answer? Ban this book Koran Source you gaveI really couldn't stop my tears when i read that post crying crying crying P.S: Ahmed will you please make another post in simple language so every one understands it sweatdrop

Both state exactly what I'm saying in two different ways.
Now I do not agree with "ban this book Koran" but I am very anxious about what this means to the rest of the world. I do not care to see one world united under Islam; because I cannot see such a world existing unless it came to pass violently and viciously.
And I thought I was simple enough; Zaki curbing means restricting basic human freedoms. In many countries it is already against the law to speak evil of ANY RELIGION. We didn't need an international law on this. Especially since it concerns only Islam. stare
