-Mitsuki had been through alot lately. The pride zealot had had alot tossed on her plate, both good and bad, but like a good servant to the pride she'd kept most of it inside her head.
The explosion of children had been a good thing in some ways. It kept her busy and useful in the pride, not to mention kept her mind for realizing just how hermitic she'd become in the past months. But unfortunately, so many children about seemed to have changed the mood of the pride. So much silliness and irresponsibility was running rampade through the pride. It was like a playground instead of a holy guild that gave their love to the Great Lion.
When Mitsuki had first heard about another apprenticing under herself she grew apprehensive. She was so very young still.. surely it wasn't time to replace her yet. Even the eldest of her friends had only now begun their second litters, if anything Mitsuki was still within the prime of her life. However it didn't take long for the fear to subside, for her to realize the usefulness of having another midwife. If something should happen to her... if she should be out... if one delivery was so extended and difficult that two paws provided more help.. or even simply if the pride just kept growing and growing. And besides... maybe her apprentice would be great? Maybe she'd finally have someone serious to talk to and hang around from time to time? Subconciously she'd begun to wish this, for some reprieve from her lonliness.
As Mitsuki waited to meet the child that would be learning under her for the first time, her tail flicked back and forth, her mind dwelled on the latest of her problems, mulling over departure of their king and the rise of his daughter. The whole idea made her back bristle. Hopefully the new queen would do a good job.. That was all she could pray for now.-

Ukene had been told to meet the lioness whom she was apprenticing under today, and had left the den with many good wishes from her family. Yep, this was sure to be a good day! The young lioness was eager, bumbling along on the way towards the meeting place, more than a bit happy to finally, finally be of some use. She'd do well, for sure! And pay attention. Or try to. Ukene was well aware that she was more than a bit silly and that her maturity was severely lacking, but she was also a good cub, and she'd try her best to be a good apprentice as well. Surely, she could learn to pay attention, right? And everyone had been so supportive, so proud. Apparently the pride had been missing a second midwife for a while now, and her apprenticeship was a thing to be celebrated. That made Ukene feel good, feel like she was doing something worthwhile, something that'd really help her beloved pride and show the world that she was an adult. Even if she wasn't, at least mentally. The young lioness had to stop herself from veering off her path several times, lured by the bright colours of the plants and the interesting shapes of the rocks. And the clouds! But no, that wasn't why she was here today, so she had to concentrate - she had to find Mitsuki. She'd met the lioness briefly before, or at least she thought she did, but she'd met loads of people when she'd come of age and she really hadn't the best memory. On that note, the lioness over there.. yes, yes, she looked like the description she'd gotten! (Her siblings had helped her refresh her memory before she'd gone off.) Awesome, today was obviously Ukene's lucky day. "Hi! You're Mitsuki, right? Only you look like they said you would - and that's a really nice pink colour and you've got the sign of the Great Lion too! That's so awesome, I wish I had the Great Lion's marking on me too, but it's kind of nice to just know others who has it, too, you know? Uh, anyway, I think I'm supposed to be your apprentice and like, uh, my name's Ukene? It's very nice to meet you and I'll be the bestest ever apprentice, just wait! Well, maybe not at first, but I'll try really, really hard, so that's got to count for something.." She trailed off, a bit embarrassed and more than a bit nervous. What if her new mistress didn't like her? That'd be awful!

-Her eyes narrowed in on the vaguely familar figure as it touched the horizon, shifting her paws beneath her the closer Ukene drew. She's known the name... the appearance.. the family.. the rank of the child... but she hadn't thought to ask anyone of her personality. That probably would have been a good piece of information. A good way to make the young one feel comfortable, but alas, poor Mitsuki wasn't the greatest people person, so it wasn't until now that the thought had struck her.
Her mouth opened to return the greeting, but quickly closed again as the words continued to tumble out. The energy was a bit much, but by the end it was a smile that rested on her face. Certainly she couldn't begrudge an honest and obviously enthusiastic soul. Enthusiasm and actual care for the job were the most important traits she could hope for.-
"Hello Ukene." -She greeted softly, nodding mildly in acceptance towards the compliments, tail flipping as she shifted once more.- "I'm glad to hear your dedication, I'll do my best to teach you as much as I can."
"It might be a little while until you see your first birth, but reguardless, I'll try to think of plenty of things to show you."
-Pausing she pondered softly, eyes looking to nowhere. How often should they meet though? She couldn't quite remember from when she was a child. A couple times a week maybe?-

"Oh! Oh, that's fine. Totally fine. I'd just like to, you know, learn something? Be useful." The younger lioness nodded frantically, beaming happily now that she knew that her mistress was a nice lioness. She'd been right, such a lucky day!
And so mellow, too! Ukene had the feeling she could learn something from Mitsuki, not only in midwifery, but in temperament as well and she made a mental note to try to emulate the older lioness' calm more often. She'd been thinking a lot lately, and no birthing lioness would be comfortable with a midwife who just blabbered on all the long day, right? So, obviously she had to learn some, whatsitscalled, tact. And Mitsuki seemed tactful. Perfect!

((I'm sorry for the delay, I'll try to be more prompt with the rest of my replies >w< ))
-Ahhhh, that word. It struck a chord in Mitsuki that absolutely delighted her. A desire to be useful. Yes, certainly this wouldn't be so bad at all. Of course she was a child still and the midwife understood that, despite never really having been much of one herself.
Considering the initial introduction had gone well, and neither lioness had run off, she moved herself to sit in the sparce shade, motioning for Ukene to follow suit so they could talk for awhile. But true to her nature it was business that sounded, only slightly touching on social graces, which she lacked.- "We will have to figure out when we should meet.. and how often. Perhaps it would be best just to decide on the next time whenever we meet. After all weather can affect things... growing seasons.. and of course pride fertility. Hmmm..."
-Settling her eyes on the younger lioness mildly she asked politely.- "Sometime very soon I should take you out once in the day and once at night to see some of the useful spring plants and blooms. If you have other things you need... or like... to do we can try to work around your schedule."

Ukene just kept on nodding, not quite sure how growing season would affect something like midwifery but figuring that was just one of the things she'd have to learn.
"No, no, I'm free whenever you are!" It was true, too - most days she just ambled around the pride, talking to anyone who crossed her path. It was fun, sure, but the young lioness was itching for something more productive than making friends.
[[sgkjhfkjghdf argh I completely forgot about this, I'm so, so sorry. x_x Send me a PM if this ever happens again (though it shouldn't, because I've got this marked down now but just in case) ]]

(No worries! Sorry for the delay on my part! ))
-Mitsuki's smile grew as the favorable answer sounded, her mind beginning to run through the different things she thought she NEEDED to tell her... little tricks that might be useful. Her antipaction was beginning to fade to something more soothing and pleased.-
"Very well then! Why don't we set out tommorow late morning?" -She imagined the child might grow a little less excited after awhile... so she might as well capitalize on the excitement in the beginning. Cram as much as she could hopefully without overwhelming her.
Her tail flicked back and forth, mind wandering.- "Unless you have any questions you'd like to ask me now?"
