I've been wondering. Does the word InsyaAllah means we are making a promise? Like if I said, "InsyaAllah, if Allah will." Can anyone explain the word InsyaAllah? Because people are making excuses when I said InsyaAllah I made a promise, and so they WANT me to do something that I made a "promise." I didn't said, "InsyaAllah, I promise."

When you say Inshallah, meaning, Allah (swt) willing, you are hoping that Allah (swt) will hear your prayers and bless you with good graces.

With InsyaAllah, it's along the same lines, at least it is for me ( i think mostly beacuse I say Inshallah, Allah willing) . But just because you are hoping that Allah (swt) will fulfill His promise, doesn't mean you can lay about and wait for it to come, you are active about it.

Say you are talking with your parents and want to go to a certain school. But you're not sure if you are able to.
You tell your parents that you want to go " go to this ________ school, InsyaAllah". You are hoping that Allah (swt) will promise you to go to this school. But you have to make sure that your grades are high enough, that you have done activities, that you are a well-rounded student, that you have a good school application. If you do none of these things, how can you ask Allah (swt) to fulfill a promise, if you are not wiling to work for yourself?
One school I was at said:
"Heaven will not help those who help themselves" (i can't remember the Islamic one at the top of my head sad )
I find it to be very true. We have to work towards our goals while asking for Allah's (swt) blessings.

Well, just like what I believe. People has misunderstood it's meaning and misuse it. And whenever we said InsyaAllah, they said, "Hey you have made promise to Allah. So you have to keep your words." stare So I doubt it. I would not have made a promise using the name of Allah, it's like you are killing with the name of Allah. gonk

Insha Allah just means like "let it be"
PostPosted: Sun Apr 05, 2009 5:11 am

InshaAllah Means "with the grace of Allah"

for example you want to get this car but you have no money then you say your frnds that

"InshaAllah i will get that car"
which means that
"I will get that car with the grace of Allah"

its just simple. Next time you say InshaALLAH.
and somebody shouts like that to you say them.
its between you and Allah and nobody has to do anything.
But if you think they have a head teach them the right meaning.

So here I got another reply from my friend. She said, I have said InsyaAllah which means I have promise to "work" for it.
Doesn't it sounds the same? You promise to work for the thing, and you promise to do it. gonk And when I said it's like using the name of Allah for killing, and she replied Muhammad uses the name of Allah to kill. So I replied Muhammad have war in the name of Allah, and because that's what Allah ask him to. And told her about nowadays people who kill and use the name of Allah to kill another person.
Hmmm... So I said people is like blackmailing someone who use the word of InsyaAllah to finish what they "promise" but then she said, "I don't black mail you." It's like she already confess that she blackmail me. I only said "people." xd Sounds like she is afraid that she indirectly blackmail me.

It's arabic, of course, and it means:

Insha'allah

In sha' allah

In= if
sha' = wanted

--> If allah wanted.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, when you say it for something, you do your best to achieve it. If you say it for promise, then you better do it, unless you really really have something that not allow you to do that. You can say it's a higher level of promise.

No, it's not a promise, you just leave it to allah, you say "allah will decide" or something like that. O:
Right?

yes right. you do not promise you leave it to Allah but work for it yourself as well to achieve it but you pray to Allah as well so if He wills to do it then you can do it. i hope i am not confusing if yes then ask.
