Devya was so proud of himself. Somehow he'd ended up all the way in Antianera, but thanks to Persephone he'd be able to find his way out of the jungle than head off again, this time in the right direction. He'd made it to the border of the demon hunter pride, Mwako'bi'Giza and with the help of Shakil passed through. Now he was going around the border to the demon pride, making sure not to cross it, knowing that even if he was stronger it was not yet his time to be there. He was tired but he was nearly home and so he was proud. He padded as quietly as he could toward his home back to the volcano which he knew to be the home of the demons.
It had been a while since Nyota had been all the way out on the borders of the pride. Far too long, in fact, the lion though with a grin. In fact, the last time he'd been all the way out here... Was probably when he'd taken that wild dog as a slave. It was then, staring absently at the borders, that he noticed a figure traveling along them. With a small growl he quickly moved to intercept the figure.
Devya's back turned he did not notice the figure approaching him, but he his fur stood on edge slightly which made him stop. He looked from side to side not seeing anything before turning around and seeing a lion headed straight for him. Devya did not think he'd accidentally crossed the border, so he shouldn't have been in trouble. No he couldn't have he thought because he'd been walking away from the border. Devya stood watching the other approach him completely unaware that some demons should be feared.
One look at the lion's eyes and Nyota's mind was made up. The pride would have a new slave, no doubt. It didn't matter that the lions could probably pass as a demon. His colors didn't matter if he didn't have a demon. With a low growl, he stood before the juvenile, his eyes dark. "You're trespassing," he said simply.
Devya did not like the new lion, he decided in an instant and he was sure he was not trespassing. He knew not to cross into another territory without permission. He had not done it in demons hunters pride and he had not done it now. "I am not on your lands," he stated his voice sounding young and very tired. He'd had a long journey and he simply wanted to go home.
"It doesn't matter. You're too close to the border," Nyota said, snapping his jaws in Devya's direction. He knew just how to herd the young lion into the lands as he had with the wild dog. And once in the lands, the lion would have no hope.
Devya backed away from the lion and had every intention of running but he feared that if he ran now and word got back that he had he would not be welcome later. He wanted his training with the king, he was determined to be the best. So Devya stopped and held his ground, terrified but not willing to run. If worse came to worse he'd do as he'd been told and say he'd been called told to approach when he was stronger.
At that, Nyota glared. This time, he rounded again on the juvenile, swiping a paw at him in an attempt to get him to move into the lands.
Devya did not move, instead looking up at the male trying to be defiant, trying to fight his urge to obey. He did not think obeying this male would be a good idea for his safety, otherwise he'd do what the lion wanted. "What do you want with me?"
"Do you want the truth or a little white lie?" Nyota purred darkly, his eyes narrowed slightly.
Devya trembled a bit, "The truth of course." Devya did not want to be lied to especially if it was something bad and if it was something bad he'd didn't really know what he would do. When he thought about it, he did not have the strength to run. His journey back this far had taken a lot out of him.
"I'm going to take you to the pride and let my Father decide what to do with you," Nyota said, his eyes narrowing slightly as he stared at the young cub.
Devya felt relief flood his small body thinking that it didn't sound like such a bad thing. Devya gave a half grin, maybe he could even meet the king and maybe rest a bit before he got to go home to him mother and sisters. He'd be back after all, unless he was told to leave and never come back. "Alright, um who is your father?"
"Verge'lian, one of the two Aran'shale of the pride," Nyota said absently. Of course, he wasn't about to say he was going to suggest the lion before him become a slave... Not yet, anyways.
Devya nodded and moved toward the male, "Very well, but after I have to get back home to my mother. I have been gone for too long. I have had a long journey. I'm Devya by the way. Who are you?"
"I'm Nyota'Angavu," was the simple response as the lion moved to herd Devya into the lands.
"Nice to meet you," said Devya moving with Nyota, not really needing any prompting. He couldn't help but think Shakil, the little demon hunter, was still wrong about the demons. Even though this second encounter with one had started off rough he was not harmed and he was excited to see the home of the demons.
FIN!
