I have officially issued a recruitment drive. I myself have sent out many an invite.
Easy way to get recruits - go to the video game forums, look for recent active threads, send invites to the people in there - use a message that says you saw them in the video game forums, and that this is a community for people who love games/music/movies/etc.
Also from approximately the 18th to the 25th I will be in Ecuador. Literally. So hopefully while I'm gone total insanity will occur with all the new activity so when I return I can go "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

If you're interesting in becoming temporary crew for the sole reason of recruiting, post in this thread.
The person who recruits the most will receive 15k and whatever other mods want to put in. Make sure your recruits make a post in the intro thread saying that you're the one that recruited them.
Do something interesting with your mod power and you just might be able to keep it and receive other gifts/surprises.
