If you haven't seen In The Heights, it is one of the best musicals I've ever seen, and pertains to our interests. It centers around the lives of people in Washington Heights, a place with numerous immigrants and descendants of immigrants who came from Spanish-speaking countries. There is some Spanish spoken in the play, and if you can understand Spanish, your understanding of the play is slightly enhanced. Aside from the language aspect, it's an amazing play, with a wide variety of music, amazing choreography, and a set design to die for. It was 2008's Tony Award winner, and my favorite musical to date. If you're interested in hearing the music, search "In The Heights" on Youtube. |
