As the horizon blazed out the final hours of the day, the creamy coated lioness surveyed the swamp from her perch atop a dry boulder in the middle of the swamp water. Reaching the boulder forced her to swim a short distance from the shore. An hour ago, she had clambered onto the rock, dripping water up to her shoulder blades. By now the sun had dried her coat almost completely.
Although in sight of the shore, the boulder would have been difficult to reach without being soaked to the bone by the time you got where you were going, which was exactly why Kosa liked it there. It was a good place to go when she wanted to be left alone.
She watched dragonflies skirt across the fire colored water with uncaring indifference. Meanwhile, the frogs were warming up their overture. The storks cawed their last before saying good bye to the chilly evening. This symphony of dusk was calming to the ears, but it made her feel insignificant and self-conscious of her small part in the great tapestry of life. Her mind wandered down dark corridors, separate from the beauty unfolding around her. Unus was walking along the swamp line seeming to be in a rather gloomy mood he had finnaly found something to give the female but he had not seen any sign of her for the longest time. He walked over to the waters edge laying down stretching out abit before he began to drink at the water wicing a little at the taste. It was so forgn to him he didn't enjoy it one bit but it was better then deing. Soon the young male looked across the shore line to see the female preched atop a bolder. He smirked a little as he began to slowly make his way into the water over to her. He was carfull not to get his think mane wet since inside it he hide her present.

The creamy lioness stared listlessly toward the horizon as the water churned. When the male was half-way across the swamp one of Kosa’s ears finally took notice of the wake. She turned, startled by the sight of the white male. He didn’t seem to wish her any ill intent. The look on his face was downright smug. She shot him a dirty look before turning her gaze back to the horizon, hoping that he would go away if she ignored him.
He didn't seem all that bothered by her look as he moved over before slimbing onto the rock and shaking off the water chuckling as she got droplets of mud muck and water on her dry fur. 'Thats what you get' He thought still having that smug look on his face before falling down beside her.
"So grumpy lady gonna tell me that name of yours?"

“Ugh! You bast… you great filthy lummox!” She recoiled to the farthest end of their little boulder, her tail neatly coiled about her legs. Even on the farthest side of the boulder she could have swatted him on the nose without having to do more than lift her paw and oh, how she wanted to smack him, smack his big stupid head back into the cold wet muck.
“I most certainly am not! And I have every right to be a grouch after you’ve slung mud all over my coat.”
He smiled before moving over pressing his nose against her. "Shut up." He said before pulling away slipping the flower from his mane and placing it between her front legs before looking away as if nothing had just hapepend.

Now he’d really gone and done it. Releasing a low growl, Kosa stiffened and prepared to slug him right off the rock – she hadn’t grown up beside two brothers for nothing, even though she kept a dignified, lady-like manner she still remembered how to knock a pompous male on his a** and she intended to make that clear. As she lifted her paw the male quickly placed something between her legs. She hesitated and glanced down on instinct, cursing herself. Suddenly her voice choked.
It was a white flower. The petals were delicate, forming the shape of a star. There was not a drop of water or mud on the flower despite of the mud that stained the male’s white coat brown. She looked up at him, her eyes pleading a desperate question.
He looked over blinking a momting tilting his head. "What... you look kinda funny you know." He said moving a paw to poke her forhead between the eyes a bit before chuckling.
"You said get you something so I found you something." He said with a smug shrug before looking away it was actually nice. He rmemeer being to wrapped up in looking for something he didn't think about his past nor about the pain each time he saw his sister.

She’d forgotten about that. After he ran off she assumed she’d be rid of him for good. She flinched from his poke and shook her head furiously as if she’d been stung by a bee. She took a deep breath to calm herself, turning her eyes away. “Why would you do this?” she demanded, as if he had brought her something vile.
He blinked softly his ears falling against his head. "I thought you would like it." He said softly before looking away feeling ashamed.
"I smelt the flowers on you so I went to find one that looked like the night sky." He admitted softly before standing and moving off the rock.
"Excuse me for trying to please a grumpy lioness." He spat out a bit dryly before leaving.

When he splashed into the water Kosa jerked up. She stood perfectly still, her eyes never leaving him until he reached the shore. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing. Everything happened so fast. Before she realized what was happening, Kosa was alone once again. As she looked down at the flower, loneliness crept upon her like a shadow beast creeping into her dreams. Everything was a daze.
As her senses returned she felt a powerful urge to stamp on the flower and knock it into the water, but as she lifted her paw to exterminate the beautiful petals something stung her from the inside, forcing her to withdraw. She scanned the shore for a sign of the white male. No. The male was gone. Her heart suddenly sank, her ears drew tightly against her skull and her gaze fell, drawn back to the star flower, the male’s gift to her. She never expected him to accept her challenge. And yet, he had failed. Instead of happiness the sight of his gift brought fourth sorrow and a deep piercing sadness which she had not felt in years.
The male moved over to a tree that was marked heavily by his scent. He churled up under it as he let out a heavy sigh as he replayed what happened in his mind. She was angry with him for the water and mud he got that he would have been to but he liked to tease her about it he couldn't help himself he knew it was wrong he still did it though. Now he thought of when he placed his nose against her a dark blush came to his cheeks thinking of it he had grown so bold out of no where he never knew that piece of his soul still existed only to be started away when she didn't like the flower. He curled up more and snuggling into himself sighing out heavily once more. Tomorrow he would just go and find something else to make her happy with yes that is it.
((End~))
