Every one's intimidated by someone. It all depends on how you deal with it.
In my opinion, there's no such thing as an intelligent person. Only a person well rounded.

Intelligence varies in different people.

I get bothered if I meet someone that is smarter than me.
I had a terrible time when my Master's boyfriend was really smart.

What I do in a situation like that is I just try to avoid talking about subjects that involve intelligence.
Say for instance that the person is good at history but not at chemistry and you're the opposite.
Just talk about chemistry and avoid history. Then, if history comes up, try to end that conversation as soon as possible.

I am a sociology major, and my boyfriend is a computer science major.

We share a common knowledge but I kid you not, we have to go and compromise on certain subjects such as that. It's as simple as going half and half on conversation.

I couldn't help but to see this topic while I was scanning the forums, waiting for my request to be accepted. I had this problem too. My solution was, like Flan said, to become intelligent. I love learning, so it was a rather easy task...but it has its down side. Now that I have learned so much, I have become the person I used to fear, and people often admit to be intimidated by me...=/
