And it's Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet.

First shot, bam! shot the shotgun shell up in the friggin' air.
Then I blew the damn top off a Dandelion.

Those 22 mags have some kick... well compared to a .22 LR.

Mom's Ruger New Model Single Six has a .22WMR cylinder.
And I have a 20 guage single-barrel with a .22WMR barrel on top.

I've gotta try a .22 mag someday. Never had the opportunity. Seems like it might be a nice alternative for medium-small game.

I've shot a Ruger Single Six with the .22WMR cylinder as well. Louder and prouder, baby!

Given the price difference, it's nice to have the ability to shoot one or the other.

Nice alternative?

My mother's friend took out a cayote or a fox, can't remember which, that was napping on top of a round hay bale, anyway, the round went through the front right shoulder, and straight through to the back left leg breaking it and exitted. It flipped the thing over dropping it Johnny on the spot.

Also yeah, for your hardy varmints you'd want a .22 mag.

Also, I'd suggest wearing hearing protection if you don't do it with regular 22, which you should, because it's a bit louder.
First round I shot made my ears ring a bit.

Yeah, he has a Ruger Single Six as well.
Loves having the two cylinders.

That .22wmr/20 would be a pretty nice combo.
I'd like to get one like that.
Is there one in .22wmr/410?

There have been several 'survival' guns built in this configuration. Most of them are German and out of production now.

The Springfield M6 Survival Gun and EAA .410/.22 Combo Gun are two fine choices. Note that the EAA isn't a .22 magnum.

That's what was so special about it, is that generally it was 410 with the .22WMR, but my grandfather bought the 20 gauge version.

Nah man, hardy varmints was back in New England. Never seen a groundhog shrug off a baseball bat since then. wink

If it's got gunpowder in it, I wear ears. Note though that I've never fired a .22 short or a suppressed gun.

On the subject of .410, an American Tactical Imports rep told me they're going to start importing .410 soon and selling it at 1/5 the current price (in his words, 'a box of 25 for what a box of 5 would cost you now').

Nice.

I saw that Wolf makes a .410, but they're an all metal cartridge.

But it doesn't seem to be THAT cheap.

I wonder what .22 short is like. I've actually got a box in the gun safe. o.o

I wouldn't shoot it in a long rifle.

My grandpa has a bolt action rifle for .22 short.

Mossberg M44 has a screw in the magazine to let it accept and feed .22 shorts. I think it'll be fine.

One of my long lost favorite pump action rifles was a Winchester .22 that would take .22 short, long and long rifle! And it was almost 80 years old when my oldest brother got it, then lost it in a break in.

So, some .22s can digest all three without changes. But don't try that with just any gun.
