Darklin Manor, June 8th RT. The House, as always, is locked in the heart of a perpetual winter. Kamika, Samuel, and myself have been faring well after the Great Expansion. The mass manipulation of Chaos Matter has allowed for a larger influx of objects from Reality to be brought in and used.
Samuel has been hunting. Chaos animals are larger than those in Reality, I think, judging on the deer that Sam has brought home thus far. Even the hares and rabbits are the size of Neko~chan, and she's not exactly a kitten anymore.

The small, pixie-like figure leaned back at her desk, her slim fingers stilling on the keys. The sudden absence of clicking made the black and white cat sleeping by the slim keyboard raise her head. Seeing that her Mistress hadn't moved, she laid her head back down on her paws and went back to sleep.
The girl swept silver-blue bangs out of her eyes and stretched languidly, reaching for the cup of tea that she kept on her desk on a warming plate.

((Half-post for now, will do more when I'm not in class.))

The girl swept silver-blue bangs out of her eyes and stretched languidly, reaching for the cup of tea that she kept on her desk on a warming plate. She took a long sip before blacking out the monitor and getting to her feet. She tugged on her boots before drawing her mail shirt over her head and pulling on her gloves. The sword came next, buckled onto her left hip for easy draw. A pair of bowstrings was coiled and stuffed into the pocket of her tunic before she picked up the unstrung longbow to use as a staff.

Her silver eyes flitted over the banks of computers before she drew the black velvet curtain across them, muting the multicolored glow of the screens and the glimmer of immaculate cases behind the heavy fabric. With a flick of her finger, she lit the fire that had been smoldering on the hearth and tossed another log onto the fire. Now all she had to do was wait...and watch.

((For those of you on the Creatrix' side, you will be summoned from the Reality shortly.))

*A purple portal opens in your ceiling, casting a warm glow around your room. As the glow brightens, a small black cat drops from the portal, landing on your bedroom floor. The cat has one white ear, one white paw, and a white tip on her tail. In her mouth is a folded piece of blue parchment, which she drops in your lap before sitting on you and staring at you with wide green eyes.

The outside of the parchment reads, in curly letters, 'Summons to Darklin'. When opened, it reads 'You, Guardian Carter, are hereby summoned to the realm of Darklin for a forseen battle. Follow your Guide, whosoever as it may be, through the opened portal and into the Manor. You will be guided into my presence.'*

As Carter closes the parchment she decides to go find her Guide. She stands up and quietly walks through the hall, the cat one step behind her all the way. Carter becomes nervous as she is followed..

A door opened in the hallway and three people stepped out into the hall. One, a tall, silver-haired figure in a long coat, had a thin cigarette wedged between pale lips. The smoker's green eyes narrowed before the cigarette was dropped and ground into the stone floor by a booted toe. The second was a thin, slightly scruffy looking young man with brown hair and tanned skin, and he wore a simple pair of grey trousers and a black tunic belted in silver. The smallest of the three stood between the smoker and the simply clad man, a tall, rune-carved staff held in both hands in front of her. Her piercing silver eyes were half-hidden behind rimless glasses.
"Carter, I presume?" It was the small one that spoke, lifting her glasses onto the top of her head to look directly at Carter. Beckoning to the cat, she stepped past her companions and blinked up at the taller woman. "As always, I am outsized. I will have Kamika show you to your quarters." She indicated the silver-haired figure at her side, who scowled slightly but nodded. "Samuel and I have another guest to greet." With that, the small figure vanished, taking with her the brown-haired young man.

Kamika mumbled something under her breath before beckoning to Carter. "This way, Miss. You will have to meet the other Guardians before you may take your post." The woman set off down the hallway, her long coat swirling behind her.

Samuel was the first to appear outside the House, casting a glance around the snow-covered mountain peak. The Creatrix appeared beside him very shortly after, planting the butt of her staff in the snow.
"You are expecting someone, Mistress?" Samuel asked politely, setting a hand on the girl's elbow to hold her steady.
"Yes. You remember him, the man in the jester's costume from before the expansion? He is our guest." The girl returned to watching her surroundings, acknowledging the hand on her elbow with a calm nod.

She watched the cat leave her side as she quietly listened to the shorter one speak to her. Carter occasionally nodded to the woman and looking over the other two men, holding her breath as she didn't like the smell of cigarette smoke. Carter reluctantly followed the silver-haired one as instructed unsure of where she was going but knew that she had a purpose.

The figure has, in one hand, a longbow, and a sword belted on her hip. In her hand is a folded piece of blue parchment, which she hands to you before folding her arms and watching you.

The outside of the parchment reads, in curly letters, 'Summons to Darklin'. When opened, it reads 'Lord Mikhail; Your presence has been requested in Darklin House as an adviser for a foreseen battle. Please come at your earliest convenience.'

Mikhail glanced between the parchment and its messenger, eyeing both with a sly smile. He nodded, rolling the note back up before handing it back to the female figure. "All this, and I at least expected you to say something. You know, maybe a little detail on what this battle could be about. But hey, I'm open for anything. Shall we get moving?" But as he finished his remark, the figure had already disappeared. "Well." The jester rolled his eyes casually. "Fine then." He began to climb up a few objects in his room, soon enough jumping headfirst into the portal.

Kamika's coat swirled around her calves as she pushed open a pair of silver-bound doors. "This is grand hall, your post." Two sets of heavy wingbeats sounded shortly before a pair of large red dragons landed. So as not to intimidate Carter, they had chosen smaller forms, about twice the size of a horse each. The larger of the two, clearly a male (His body, neck, and tail were thicker than the other's), tossed his head and gave Carter a considering look. "Miss, this is Doragon," Kamika indicated the male dragon, "and this is Akarina." The smaller of the two dipped her head politely, watching Carter with ruby-bright eyes. The silver-haired woman pulled another cigarette out of her pocket and wedged it between her lips, but didn't light it. "Doragon, Akarina, this is Carter. She will be joining you in guarding the Red Gate." Akarina gave the two women a scathing look before flicking her tail at her brother and leaping into the air.

The Creatrix didn't seem to feel the cold as she watched the lower slope of the mountain. Though the icy wind was blowing cold snow into her face and hair, and her glasses were starting to frost, the tiny figure stood as still as a marble statue, and nearly as pale. For the sake of formality, she had left her small armoury of weapons in her chambers, and carried only her unstrung bow as a staff. Samuel, on the other, hand, though he still stood faithfully by her side, had summoned his thick winter cloak and pulled it around him. The tiny figure seemed to perk up as another figure materialized on the slope below her.

Carter follow Kamika into the grand hall. She jumps back startled as the two dragons suddenly appear infront of her. Slowly, Carter nods her head to the two dragons, Doragon and Akarina. Her gaze shifts over to Kamika. "I have a feeling they don't like me to much.." With a smirk she mummbles to herself, "But I'm sure that will change."

"The dragons don't like anyone much, let alone a newcomer." Some of the woman's words were slightly muffled as she spoke around the cigarette between her lips. It yet remained unlit as she strode out into the Grand Hall, flicking a glance over her shoulder at Carter. "Your quarters are upstairs. Come this way." The woman gestured with one hand before breaking into a run across the hall and mounting the stairs.

Samuel's eyes narrowed against the cutting wind as he peered at the newcomer. "This is the Jester, then? He is not clad as I remember him." The groundskeeper's hand strayed to the rapier belted on his left hip, but a chilled hand on his elbow stilled the movement. "My Lady, your hands are as cold as ice!" Stripping off his gloves, he quickly and effortlessly slid them over the Creatrix's fingers. They instantly shrank to fit her smaller, childlike hands.
"No, it is him. I imagine that his jester's costume is not the warmest garb for a trek through the mountain peaks." Stretching up on her tiptoes and pulling her hand out of Samuel's, the girl waved to the figure. "Mikhail! Mikhail, up here!" Her clear voice echoed off the slopes of the mountains around her, bouncing back in diminishing waves. She flinched, not having realized how much of an echo that there would be and now fearing an avalanche. The snow under her feet stayed stable, however, and she breathed a sigh of relief.

She tried her best to understand what Kamika was saying as she glared disgusted at the ciggarette in her mouth. Without a word, she runs across the Grand Hall and up the staircase to her quarters. With the Grand Hall and dragons everywhere she wondered what was going to show up next.

An instant shiver raced through the jester's self as he tried to adapt to the cold climate of the snow-capped mountain. Luckily, his cloak was prepared for such an occasion. The flames sewn into the woolen cloth shimmered and billowed with such intensity that Mikhail often thought the flames were real, but they were only a slight effect. However, now that he noticed it, the warmth seemed...cut down, as if a force was preventing it from heating itself to a higher temperature. It wasn't a true mystery, though; he knew it had to do with the land of Darklin. He had felt it before, but never at a place where a lack of his cloak could mean he could freeze at any moment.

Small annoyances aside, he gathered his senses among the snowy mountainside before realizing he was hearing a noise through the raging winds, one that seemed to come from every direction. He twisted around, searching for the source before noting the two familiar shapes standing farther up the mountain. Waving, hoping he would be seen, he began to make the trek towards them, but he still didn't know whether he had been spotted. Mikhail decided to check.

"I'm here! I'll be up there in a moment, Creatrix!" he bellowed.

At this time, he forgot to pay attention to his current location. He forgot that sound carried beyond the Creatrix and her companion. He forgot that there were many layers of snow laying upon the mountains.

He thought he heard a cracking noise beyond the wind, but he didn't take anymore notice.

Kamika roughly shoved open a door at the top of the stairs. The chamber was small but finely furnished. A simple feather bed with carved posts and a sheer canopy, a soft rug on the stone floor, and a washstand on the far side of the room. A door beside the washstand presumably led to a closet of some sort. "You will be quartered here. When the Creatrix returns, she will take you to the armoury on the lower floors." Turning on her heel, the woman shoved rudely past Carter and out into the hallway.

The small figure cast a nervous glance behind the jester, clearly hearing the crack. Looking to Samuel momentarily, she sighed. Tapping her staff against the snow, she ported to Mikhail's side. "I don't know why I didn't just do this in the first place," she mumbled, grabbing his elbow. Tapping the staff against the snow again, she ported them back to Samuel. Not more than a moment later, a thick sheet of snow slid off the nearest mountain, completely engulfing the spot where the Jester had stood no more than a moment ago. "Please, don't yell that loudly. I remembered after I shouted to you that the snow is unstable here." She still held his elbow, and Samuel gave him a scathing glance.
The young man's hand still rested on his rapier. Now that he stood closer to Mikhail, he could see that he was, in fact, wearing his typical jester's costume, though the mountain air had made it seem to be a slightly different color. His sharp brown eyes softened slightly as he smiled, though they still held a hint of wariness. "Welcome to the new Darklin, jester."

"There's nothing like a new home sweet home." Mikhail carefully removed the small figure's hold on his elbow before using both of his now free arms to sweep off leftover bits of snow on his garb, reminders of an almost imminent demise.

"But, I must apologize." The jester lowered his head slightly, as if in shame of doing something bad, other than starting the avalanche. "I feel that Darklin does not have a keen interest of me right now, but I can understand that. However, I do not wish to make enemies of its occupants. Can you forgive me for whatever I did, Samuel?" Mikhail had glanced quickly at the groundskeeper before he had smiled, and was worried about why he had seemed so angry at him only a moment ago.

"Certain things can be forgiven." Samuel smiled his crooked smile and let his hand fall away from the hilt of his rapier. "I'm a little surprised that you came so soon, and so easily on your own." The Creatrix elbowed him rather rudely in the side, and he grimaced. "Well, I suppose my Lady works in strange ways." She elbowed him again, and he sidled away.
The Creatrix tugged her gloves tighter on her small hands and started up the slope towards the manor, the dark bulk of which could be seen against the white mountains. "Come. I will have a warm fire and a hot meal for you when you catch up." Tapping her staff against the snow, the girl disappeared into the night.
