Devya sat outside where he thought the kings den to be contemplating whether he should enter or not. It was where he'd been told to look, but he wasn't sure if it was actually allowed for him to be in their. He sighed, he'd been in the pride a little while now and he was adjusting now that he made a friend, but he'd yet to find the one lion he'd been looking for.
Devya has waited outside for a while, but now he was becoming bored which meant he was antsy. He frowned before decided he didnt want to wait anymore.
He approached the entrance, stalling at the opening. "Hello," he called out, "hello, is anyone in there? Sil'in Drathir?"
He frowned as he call was barely loud and wondered if he should call out again.

Drathir was returning to the dens when he saw someone calling into his father's sleeping area. Tching as he curled his lip at the thought of encountering Verge'lian and his disbelief in Drathir's abilities, the prince tossed his head and moved to saunter by, posturing.
However, he caught the last bit of Devya's call and blinked, eyes narrowing, "If you're looking for me, I do not dwell in that one's den any longer. It would be best to avoid that Aran'shale, far too wrapped up in my siblings is he." There was disapproval in his voice but it faded quickly as he let the anger that bordered on hate slide away. His troubles with his father were none of this new demon's concern.
"You seem familiar. Why have you come looking for me?"

Devya turned to see Drathir and at his warning was very relieved he had not entered. However, a look of confusion cross his face and he frowned. Had this not been where he was told to look. He was about to voice this question when Drathir voiced a question of his own.
Devya grinned slighty, "We met when I was younger, still a cub. I saw you hunting and I came over and told you that you were amazing and I wanted to hunt like that someday."
Devya paused for a second to catch his breath before jumping back into his explanation, " Then you told me you were a demon and I said I wanted to be a demon too, but you said I wasn't and maybe when I was stronger to come find you. So I bigger and stronger now and here I am." Devya sat up proud," and guess what," he said grinning slightly, "I'm a demon. Devya the demon."
Devya completely left out the part about his getting totally lost and mostly tricked into coming into the pride by Nyota. The fact of the matter was that he was there now and he wanted his training.

Drathir frowned at the torrent of words, one ear flicking in surprise but memory did click into place and he nodded slowly. "I see... I am glad you made it to these lands relatively unharmed then, demon. Another among our rank is a good thing indeed."
The prince eyed the juvenile for a moment before offering a professional smile, "Have you found a place among the rank yet, Devya? You are still young, you must train with your peers."

Devya grinned slightly but the grin quickly faded as being asked about finding a place. He shook his head slightly, no he hadn't found a place. He'd mostly observed and found out a bit about the pride from the few he'd met.
"No, not yet," he said. "And I haven't met anyone yet who is around my age, besides I wanted to train with the king. You said to hunt like you did one had to be trained by the king. The Aran'shale, right?"
He paced looking rather determined, "I want to be the best. Will training with my peers make me the best?"

Drathir nodded, expecting such an answer. Newcomers often took some time to adjust to their ways... to feel out that little niche that was right for them and to find a calling with one of the gods.
"Aah. You would train with Verge'lian?" He tch'd and glanced at the den, "Wait for him here, then, and ask for his blessing. Be warned, though, he is only willing to give it those he favours and his words can be traps."
The Prince arched his brow as the other paced and chuckled, "Yes. It will show you their weaknesses. Weaknesses you can prey upon to claw your way to the top. If they let you in too close, in combat or society, then they are weak and are a lesser demon - our way, Devya, is that of strength and cunning, don't forget that."

Devya sat and contemplated Drathir's words, frowning slightly. By now it was apparent that Nyota had tricked him, though that hardly matter now seeing as he was a demon.
"I do not wished to be tricked," he mentally added yet again. He did not wish to make the same mistake twice. "How do I avoid his trap? And as far a being favored, if he does not favor me I will have to find another. I will be the best. I've got this far with just my sister for support and mostly training on my own."
Devya grinned, "Are you sure I should prey on their weakness. That seems rather unnecessary, but if I must that I shall. That means I will have to stay on guard, ... um don't allow them to come to close and keep my weakness from them, though I do not know what they are."
Devya knew that wasn't true, he did know his one true weakness, but learning what he had about the pride he would never reveal his weakness to anyone. He wished them to be safe.

"Do not trust all of his words. Lies are intermingled with truths, Devya, his is truly a devil." He arched his brow at the other, a look of disapproval flashing across his features, "Familial ties are not a source of strength, young one, your own power is. Your demon, that tug and pull and wisdom within - that is your strength."
That disapproval deepened and Drathir laughed, a mocking, hard sound as he batted at the juvenile, meaning to knock him about, "Put it this way, Devya. You have wandered into a pride where if you don't strike first, you'll fall victim. If you don't prey on weaknesses of other, they'll catch yours and tear you apart. Only the strong survive here."

Devya frowned he didnt understand how ones family could not make him stronger. He features took confusion as Drathir explained about his demon. He looked toward the volcano then back to Drathir. He could feel the crazy burst of excitement build in him, but again he chose to ignore it.
He heard Drathir words and felt the paw that knocked him over. He jumped up quickly his fur raised, his expression one of anger and indignation. He almost shouted at Drathir demanding to know why he struck him, but Drathirs words met his ears and he understood. Still he was displeased and frowned about his lack of knowledge.
He wanted to do something strike Drathir or something, but he was not foolhardy, even if he was irritated.
"If your so smart, so great, so wise. Why don't you train me? Huh?"
Devya blinked in confusion at his own words wondering where they had come from. Surely he hadn't meant that. He'd come to train with the king. Right? But, here he stood on guard, seemling waiting for an answer.

Drathir's brow rose high on his forehead at the other's outburst and for a moment he seemed to contemplate striking the young lion or laughing. Fortunately for Devya he chose the latter and and great, deep laugh rumbled from the prince as he shook his head. "Train you? Fine, I will train you little imp and you will follow my command. Understood? I have worked to take my vengeance and you shall work to earn the right to face an Aran'shale."
Amusement and something else, something darker, flickered in his gaze as he regarded Devya. Why not? This little one seemed determined to grow stronger, and really.... through that training he could indeed gain a follower he shaped himself.
It was a promising twist he was certain Morifaer would be pleased with. Gathering followers to his banner would make it all that much easier to face down Iartuupe.

Devya was surprised at the answer given to him. He hadn't been expecting it, but he did not let it show. He stood tall and nodded, "I will train hard, you'll see I will be the best demon. I will follow your commands and I wil earn the right to face an Aran'shale."
Devya had ignored the imp comment, but he thought on it now and wonder now that Drathir was to train him, should address the older lion differently. "Shall I still call you Sil'in Drathin or shall I refer to you as something else, since you are to train me?"
Devya looked at him curiosity and eagerness showing.

"To be the best, you have to overcome every single lion in this pride..." Drathir replied evenly and arched a brow, "And I am one demon you will not surpass, Devya. My goals aim too high and my will is too strong, I cannot succumb to the likes you - not when I yet have a purpose."
He tilted his head at the question of title and he smirked, one side of his mouth quirking up in a haughty gesture, "You may call me Drathir, Devya. There is no need for a change in formality so long as you remember your place."
Turning away, the prince began to walk away and tossed his head in a gesture to follow, "Come, let us begin."
