With a huff, Nuria flopped down in the shade of a rock. It was too friggin' hot out here...granted, it was shortly after midday, but logic didn't play a huge factor in her thought processes just yet. The biggest factor in her young mind at the moment was that she was bored and she wanted something to do. She wouldn't even mind the heat very much, if she got something to keep her mind off of it.
Snapping her tail against a pebble to watch it skitter off into the sand, she laid there panting, hoping something to distract her would come along.

 Kaa'washa had just woken up from a nap, he had foolishly awoken before dawn and had gotten tired around midday. Once he had gotten up and started moving he wished he hadn't, it was blistering hot. He let out a small growl of frustration and headed away from the den he had been sleeping in. He hadn't gotten too far when he came upon a rock with a familiar shape lying in its shade. Deciding he would bother his sister he changed directions, sitting next to her.
"Nuri." He stopped short not sure what he was actually going to talk to her about. He was awkward with conversation even with his family. "Hot day."

"No s**t," Nuria growled, thwapping her tail against another pebble. It felt good to watch the little rocks fly, knowing she was the one that had moved them. Maybe she'd use this as a tactic some day, to toss sand in the eyes of her foes...for now, it was simple stress relief. "When isn't it hot? And don't say at night, everyone knows that." Her blue eyes flicked to her brothers face, waiting to see what his reaction would be. She liked pushing buttons...

Kaa just blinked, staring at his sister as she responded. After a second his dirty-gold eyes went from her to the stones she was flicking with her tail. He wondered if it was really that entertaining, it didn't seem like it. He didn't mention this though, he didn't feel like wasting the words on it. hearing her question he paused for a moment before replying. "Before the sun rises." Unfortunately for Nuria Kaa didn't have many buttons, he was pretty stoic most of the time. His ears flickered, listening to the ambient sounds of the desert and the pride. "It's cool at night too." He couldn't help but add that, just because she asked him not too.

A flash, a spark...Nuria's eyes narrowed and she dug her claws into the sand in frustration. "That's still at night, obviously," she spat. Her white-streaked tail twitched by her side, and she glared off stonily across the desert. "Maybe it's always hot, except for at night." It had been what she meant after all, with her rhetorical question. It was hot in the daytime, it was cold at night. That was just...life.

The barest hint of a smile curled on Kaa's maw for a moment before he shrugged. "I suppose it is." He glanced across the desert then back to his sister. "It would be cooler if you left the desert." He wasn't quite sure what laid beyond the sands they called their home and frankly he didn't want to know. He was born here and it was where he wanted to stay, he couldn't imagine leaving. "We could go looking for an oasis, the water may be cooler." He didn't really care too much what they did, he would've suggested play-fighting (one of his favourite things to do) but that was better left till the sun set and it was cooler. Play-fighting during the hottest part of the day wasn't enjoyable.

Nuria stiffened at the thought of leaving the desert--although whether from shock or anger was difficult to tell at first. "Never," she hissed, tail lashing against the sand in emphasis. "A Firekin that leaves the desert is no Firekin at all." She sat there in stony silence for a moment...at least, until he suggested looking for an oasis. "...Okay." It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't get the water too dirty, right? Besides...dirt settled.
