Tomb Raider Reboot to Become Survival-Horror Title?
Written Monday, July 13, 2009 by Dan Webb
Tomb Raider has had a tough time as of late and according to Eidos supremo, Ian Livingstone, the next installment of Lara would "surprise a lot of people and reinvigorate the franchise." Now if the latest Tomb Raider rumour turns out to be true ... shock us it will! In a leak, originally on FourPlayerCo-Op, concept art and details of the upcoming Tomb Raider surfaced stating it would be open-world and survival-horror title.
The new title is said to feature a revamped combat system, weather system, new weapons (including a box as seen in the concept art here), natural events and free movement. As for the story, well that goes as follows ...
"When a sudden storm destroys her research vessel, a young and inexperienced Lara Croft finds herself stranded on a mysterious and remote island hidden off the shores of Japan. Despite several signs of various inhabitants the island is oddly deserted, and an uneasy feeling settles in as strange sounds emerge from the shadows."
"With only her determination, inner strength, and resourcefulness to help her, Lara must overcome the challenges of a harsh and unforgiving journey that will take her across a vast island wilderness and deep into the claustrophobic and menacing underground tombs from the island's past. As she struggles to prevail through brutal combat encounters and treacherous exploration, Lara will be pushed to her limits and forced to adapt to her situation in order to survive and escape from the lethal predators that stalk her every move."
Another Lara reboot then? At the moment we'll chalk it down as a rumour but the fact the lawyers pounced on the major blogs who had hosted the images to remove them seems to pay credence to the rumour.
Open-world? Sounds good. Survival horror? Excuse me?
