Here is where everyone who is currently in the Wasteland will make their posts.

The Wasteland:

Not much is known about this realm as of yet. All that's know is that the sky is tinted orange and constantly cloudy.
The air is horrible, thick with pollution. Much of the landscape is extremely rocky and dusty, there is little if any plant-life. Small factories populate the expansive landscape.

A massive factory constantly dominates the Wasteland and can be seen from almost anywhere.

The Wasteland is accessed by going through the door marked with a "2".

Unlike before, when the Guests would arrive in the middle of the unsafe Wasteland, anyone going through door 2 will arrive in a small room (now outfitted with a series of gas masks and a few weapons) in Factory 31N1 (currently in the Workmen's control) as Mick has recently relocated the receiving door.

Smith's Compound (Floor 1):

So far, Smith's Compound is largely unexplored.

Holding Room:

The Holding Room is a mid-sized room made of heavy iron held in place with large, bronze rivets.
Polished, bronze piping lines the room and large clockwork gears decorate the corners of the room.
In the front of the room is a large, iron, riveted door with a small slit for looking through.
On the door and its hinges were several bronze gears, levers, knobs, and valves.

The door leads to a mid-sized, polished bronze, riveted hallway. The moldings are made of steel and bronze pipes and holed vents run along the upper moldings of the hallway.

Light enters the hallway through small skylights high along the ceiling.
The ceiling itself is low, but the skylights runs a good twenty feet up.

The ground is plated bronze.

Lounge:

The Lounge is located at the left end of the hallway.

Break Room (TV Room):

The Break room is located at the far right of the hallway and is a roomy, square room with a couch, end table, and a small, strange-looking TV. The television is made of browned iron and has gears and valves along the bottom. Copper pipes run out from it and into the wall.
There is a door on the right wall.

Research Room:

The Research Room is right next to the Break Room and is a rectangular room that is just as wide as the Break Room but about twice as long. In the center of the room is a large, oval table made from assorted junk metals surrounded by similar chairs, eight on each side and one at the end. On the tables are seventeen or so computers that look like a cross between a modified modern laptop and a Victorian typewriter. Each has an accompanying mouse made of bronze, scrap metals, and assorted gears.

At the head of the table is a slightly nicer laptop built to a similar design as the other computers, though more refined and neat.

There's a door at the far left corner of the room and one on the left wall.

A large screen dominates the far wall.

Meeting Room:

Going through the furthest door in the Research Room, going through a small passing room, and then through another door directly to the right will bring one to the Meeting Room. The Meeting Room is just slightly larger than the break room though not quite as roomy. A large, round table made of various scrap metals is bolted to the floor in the center of the room, taking up about three-quarters of the available space. About a meter of the center of the table is deeply indented. Chairs surround the large table.

The room is dimly lit by a single skylight and a large screen dominates the far wall.

Wilderness

Below is a list of the locations discovered in the vast polluted realm of the Wastelands.

Factory 31N1:

Factory 31N1 is a small, cubic factory, roughly an acre in size and two stories tall and under enemy control.

Several dark green tents are set up across the surrounding area. A makeshift shelter rests in the center of a circle of eight tents.

A series of fences made from scrap metals surround the factory and winded around the tents.

A small, make-shift bridge spans across a small ten-foot trench in the front of the factory. Several fences and scrap metal blockades are set up for added defense.

There is a large garage in the rear. 31N1 is painted above the entrance in red spray paint.

Factory 31N1 (Garage):

The Garage (located in the rear of the factory) is rather vacant. Dim light filters in from small windows located high on the rear wall, but only enough light is provided to see the vague shadows of obstacles a few feet ahead without further illumination.
The floor of the Garage is concrete, cracking from a combination of old age and the stress of tons of debris resting upon the ground for countless days. Along the center of the garage runs a line of square, cracked concrete pillars with each face measuring about three feet across. The central pillar has a large chunk missing from it, the debris now resting at its base.
There's a door on the opposite side of the Garage.

Rubble, debris, junk, and scrap metal rest upon the floor in scattered piles of varying sizes, the largest resting in the corners of the garage. The central ground of the garage is relatively clear.

There is a single, inert Wreck, Model H, standing in the rear-left corner of the garage amongst a pile of scrap metal.

Factory 31N1 (Interior):

The interior of the factory is tall and open, with only one large, concrete pillar on both ends, two smaller, concrete pillars in the center supporting the catwalks, and the various walls and doorways to provide cover.

From the front entrance, the factory floor is flat and clear of any large debris. There are windowed booths on either side of the room that expand the length of the factory, a small set of steps leads through the open doorway to the booths. Directly across the factory is a door that leads to the garage. A window exists several feet above the door, looming over the factory floor. On the opposite end of the factory are two doors on either wall, parallel to each other.

Above the floor is are catwalks on either side of the factory with a small bridge connecting the two.

Now that Smith has taken over, the front door has been effectively barricaded with debris from the garage, and two more barriers were created for use as cover directly under the bridge. The two barriers are directly next to each other, the distance between them is the width of one of the central pillars. The size of the barriers themselves is roughly three or four feet high, six feet wide, and three feet long.

There is now a gaping hole from where an infected Medic bashed its way through. This hole has since been blocked off with debris.

The doorway back to the Manor has been relocate to the rear-right room in the factory. The room has since been outfitted with several gas masks on the wall and a few weapons courtesy of Mick.

A Brief Recap:

Orion, Shikyo, Tannor, Gwen, Juliet, Alastair, Smith, and his men are all fighting for their lives as they attempt to overtake an enemy factory. As of right now, Gwen, Tannor and two sibling marksmen, Mark and Cindy, are pinned under enemy fire as eight soldiers move in on them. Mark and Cindy are upon an enemy tower and Gwen and Tannor defend from below.
Four of Smith's men, Juliet, and Alastair are facing off agains nine enemy soldiers and a medic.
There has been a brief cease-fire and an eary silence has fallen over the battlefield. Orion and Shikyo are assisting in the battle, Smith is attempting...something involving a large boulder.
Elian and Lyan are prisoners within the factory.
The silence continues.

Orion was starting to be annoyed by the eerie silence which gave him an idea. In his mind flashed the image of Alastair when he tried to somehow connect to him. Orion spoke quickly and quietly as he took out his laptop and turned it on : “Alright Jack, take my rifle and watch the trench. I'm going to try something and hopefully get someone to pop up. Don't ask me how, I don't entirely know. When he does, cap him.” Jack took the gun and just gave him a little warning: “O.K. I'll bit. Just know I'm not the best rifle shot.” Orion replied as he inputed his password, “Well that beats the guy who never shot a rifle before.” Jack smirked a little and said, “Well you could have fooled me.” Orion booted up the foreign program and found several people including Smith, Alastair, several soldiers on both side, and a few more. He looked at the pictures of the names that he didn't know and found the medic he fired at. Orion said, “Get ready, I don't know what will happen so watch it.” He then clicked the button on the program labeled “Connect” and kept hitting it at every time he got the error message, “Could not connect.”

A small icon next to the , similar to a wifi symbol, popped up next to the Medic's image. It showed a weak signal. As Orion began to mash the "Connect" button, a loading bar popped up and began to load very slowly.
The Medic felt a sudden intrusive presence in his mind and stopped what he was doing. The Medic simply dipped his head, clenched his fists, and gritted his teeth as he began to mentally fight back against the presence.
The loading bar suddenly shot back down to zero and disappeared, displaying the "Could not connect" message.
He attempted to make a connection again, the same thing happen.
While his attempts had managed to slow and distract the Medic, they were not enough to endanger the Medic.

The silence was cut through as the sound of grinding gears, hissing steam, and heavy footsteps came from behind the soldiers.

((Sorry this took so long. Forum looks great! 3nodding ))

Gwen carefully clicked off the safety and listened to precisely where the shots were coming from, trying to pinpoint the locations of the shooters without having to break cover to look. She planned on waiting until at least a few enemies were reloading their guns before she tried shooting.

Smith stopped suddenly, then hefted back towards the bridge. "Everyone behind me! We need to get out of here, right now!" That was, without a doubt, the sounds of a Wreck. There was no safety here anymore. "Someone wave Mark and Cindy off, they'll be torn to pieces up there. Get to the back of the bridge! Wait, wait... You six, Juliet too, you guys who are up here, go get Mark and Cindy down and get to safety! I'll lead these guys around, we'll find another way!" He began retreating back across the bridge while Juliet and the others began sprinting off towards Mark and Cindy, since the other soldiers were making no appearances.

Shikyo hated this, the damned wasteland had nothing he could outsource these opponents with. To put it bluntly he was outgunned but they were outwitted. Cocking back the Handgun he sat back against his cover wishing he could happen upon a rifle that wasn't in utter disrepair...maybe an SMG with a silencer and extended clip, an automatic shotgun and a string of frag grendades...breaking away from his dillusions he lurked in the shadows beside the boulder with his gun out to the side. Catching the bright flash of the medics white coat he aimed for the healer. Time slowed to a crawl as he drew a long calming breath. The faintest sounds of his heart and the huff of his breath rung in his ears harshly.

Instinctively he aligned the sights and felt his body coursing blood. Pulling back the trigger three times he felt as if he could see the bullets blaze past for the medical practicioner.

Unfortunately for Gwen, that pause in fire was seldom to come. The soldiers were too organized, half of them firing as soon as the other half paused to reload.
They were under constant fire.

Smith's five men, Juliet, and Alastair, without another word, followed Smith's orders, standing and running as quickly as they could towards Cindy and Mark's position, winding through fences and debris as fast as they could manage.
They made it safely and were in the perfect position to flank the eight enemy soldiers.
Alastair was the first to fire, striking a soldier in the back and killing him. Four of the seven remaining soldier turned and opened fire upon the group. They all took cover immediate. Two of the four had to reload right away. The other three sustained fire on Mark and Cindy's position.

This was as much of a pause as Gwen was gonna get and she knew that.

Unfortunately for Shikyo, the medic was behind excellent cover and safe from any fire. Rather than firing, he watched as something rounded the factory.

What came from behind the factory was hidden at first by debris and dust. Then came a violent grinding of gears an a fierce jet of steam as the figure tossed aside a boulder and smashed through the fence.
What stood before the battlefield was a behemoth of metal, wire, and steam.

It stood eight feet three inches tall and looked to weigh quite a bit. It's copper body was completely spherical, about three feet in diameter, with a domed head with goggle-like eyes protruding from the top and a raised socket roughly six inches across on the bottom of the sphere. From the socket came a thick bunch of copper piping and wiring connecting the body to the groin and thin copper legs of the machine.

Below the smooth copper "thighs" of the machine were the thin and exposed, almost brittle-looking shins and feet of the construct, the heavily-jointed feet of the Wreck took on the appearance of bird's feet. It's excessively long and somewhat thin arms extend from the sides of it's spherical body all the way to the ground with rather small, humanoid hands, giving an overly awkward look and feel to the machine. Upon it's forearms is thin metalic tubing connecting the forearms to the main body. This tubing is secured to keep it from getting in the way. Also upon t's forearms are a number of breaks and bolts.

The joints of the Wreck were completely exposed, revealing a number of gears and wires. The wires were saudered neatly to the gears.

On it's back, it carried what looked like an oxygen tank with steel pipes feeding directly into it's "mouth".

With it's protruding eyes it scanned the battlefield slowly. It saw Smith and let out an unnatural sound of metal grinding with metal, a kind of roar, and charged after Smith, slaming it's fists into the ground and tossing up most of what was left of the fence.
It charged through rocks and barriers alike, slamming through whatever was in it's way.
The soldiers scrambled out of it's way as it charge, opening them up for fire. Only the medic and his patient remained still.

Smith made it to the other side of the bridge just as the monsterous machine skidded to a halt to chance direction. It charged at Smith who raised the boulder he had been carrying into the air and brought it down upon the bridge, destroying it as the Wreck attempted to cross.

The Wreck scrambled to it's feet at the bottom of the ditch. It "roared" once more as it attempted to scale the low wall.

Ignoring the frightening sounds that were coming from nearby, Gwen immediately popped up and started firing at the enemy soldiers, firing at as many enemy units as possible before diving for cover again. What was that sound? It was awful; like screaming metal.

Smith drew his massive revolver, firing three times into the center of the thing's head in order to keep it down where it was. He then fired twice more, aiming for the pipes running towards its mouth, hoping to sever whatever gas was being transfered there and kill the Wreck with pure loss of air.

Juliet, meanwhile, took advantage of the brief moment she had to open fire and emptied yet another magazine with an extended burst of automatic fire, hoping to kill three or four before they managed to get to sufficient cover.
PostPosted: Tue Jul 21, 2009 6:32 pm
Growling as the mechanical beast thundered by he was angered by medic hiding in his cover and it was too far for an accurate grenade toss. Saving those three shots he slinked up from cover and beared his teeth in a snarl as he fired out a trio of bullets for an exposed gunman.

Gwen managed to fire off the last five shots of her clip before being forced to take cover. Her first shot failed to hit anything but a stray boulder, knocking a small cloud of dust into the air. Gwen's second, third, and fourth shots struck one of the soldiers firing upon Smith's men. The first of the three struck the soldier between the shoulder blades, causing his body to jar and drop his weapon, the second shot hit the soldier in the lower back, to the right of the spine, the third bullet tore through the back of the man's head, killing him outright.
Gwen's final shot hit a soldier that was firing upon Mark and Cindy in the leg, causing him to cease fire for only a moment as he then turned his fire on Gwen. Gwen's inexperienced arms were beginning to tire.
Juliet's brief burst had managed to kill two soldiers, critically injure another, and cause minor injuries to yet another that took cover to reload.
The two others firing upon Mark and Cindy paused to reload.
They took that chance to return fire on the soldiers, firing two shots each. Because of their high vantage point, cover was rather ineffective for the enemy. Cindy's first shot hit the soldier firing at Gwen in the arm, causing him to cease fire momentarily. Mark's first shot decapitated a soldier behind cover. Cindy's second shot killed the soldier firing at Gwen. Mark's second shot struck a soldier in the toe, causing only minor damage.

*

Smtih's three shots only managed to dent the Wreck's sturdy metal head as they pushed the contraption back down into the ditch. His attempts to sever the pipes met with mild sucess as his bullets first dented, then ripped a hole into the right pipe. A jet of steam shot from the hole and the Wreck growled with frustration it reached a long arm out towards smith, parts of the forearm were opening up.

Shikyo shot and killed one of the scrambling soldiers.
