So I purchased the Fallout Trilogy from Best Buy a few months ago and kinda got around some time to play it. It is kinda complicated blindly looking for the controls and understanding what button presses mean what. I mean trying to get into Vault... 15? i cant remember, was complicated til i figured out to right cilck for an action.

Anyways! What i really wanted to compare was the quests, not the control layout. The first quest i was ever able to complete at the moment was a quest to kill a fat mobster who runs a casino named Gizmo. Having to find out information why he wants to kill the mayor of Junktown, something Darkwater, and then bringing the fight to Gizmo. It was a pretty epic 10 mins for me. Those 10 minutes beat a lot of the sidequests Bethesda has made hands down.

There's another thing i want to mention but i forget what it was... sweatdrop
Well i will post another thing later when i remember or encounter something cool.

I loved Fallout 3, but I LOVED Fallout's 1 & 2!

Yes the quests are more epic and the writing is more sound, however in this day and age the graphics are sub par at best!

Hey Tron, have you ever played Wasteland? (a 1985 Comadore 64 game)

Yeah, admittedly PC RPGs are pretty complex to learn how to play at first, this is one of the major reasons why those games aren't very common anymore - most people don't want to be patient enough (like jonnnn)

Anyways, I'm glad you're giving fallout 1 and 2 a try, the gizmo quest is pretty fun, just to let others reading who are on the fence about trying out FO1, you also have the option of teaming up with gizmo to go kill said mayor - though to be fair, beth would probably include the same option.

Oh, tron, try to not look up walkthroughs on FO1 if you haven't already. I found one of the best overall things about the game to be the main quest, I don't know about you, but when I was running around it was both frustrating and fascinating trying to find the water chip - quite a few times I even asked myself if there even is one.

Also, if combat is giving you problems and you'd like to make a new character just keep in mind that agility should always be 9 (or 10 since it can be improved later on I believe), charisma is useless, strength can be like 5 since you can improve it a lot via power armor, endurance isn't needed unless you get hit a lot, perception = more range, intelligence is good, and luck is decent. Also, get the gifted trait, and the fast shot trait unless you like the targeting system

Yep, that's the one thing I don't really like about moral choices in videogames: they're always pretty obvious. I mean one good guys sends you to kill a bad guy, it should take you about two seconds at the most to figures out said bad guy is going to try to get you to kill the previously mentioned good guy. Too bad.....

BLARG!!! This game does frustrate me a little. Finding that damn rope was more painful that it had to be. Now Im punching my way through Vault 15 and there better be a damn waterchip. I already got a cutscene saying water is running low in the vault.

How long is the game actually? Story wise? I am running out of stimpacks and need some money so I will go wandering around the hub for a job. Uuumm im getting rid of my Desert Eagle for more hunting rifle ammo and yeah... that is what im pretty much up to.

I also agree that others should give the Fallout Trilogy a try, its just $20 bucks and any computer can pretty much run these games.

I believe you can barter with some people in shady sands for a rope, just for future reference - and you're probably like... 15% through the game =P It might be helpful to get that guy Ian in shady sands to join you, though look out because if you're standing between him and an enemy he'll still shoot at the enemy potentially hitting you XD (this is actually referenced in FO2, one of the funnier references in that game)
