User ImageAs far as the Gods’ haven went, it had a constant forecast of being either ice clear or snowy gray. For the new godling, it was the only weather he knew, and he was hardly thrilled with it. He knew of other weather, but as far as where he was, it was only an idea. On the topic of the weather, it had just as much to be desired as the God Haven itself. The area was cold, pure white, and devoid of variety and, more importantly, company. It was enough that the godling was setting his sights off to the mortal world where he had been seeing all the other gods and goddesses that traversed in and out of the haven (without so much as a hello) go.

Though, his confidence and health were waning here. It was a need that he had to go out and seek company, but teleporting was a new idea for the god. His wings, though having a purpose, were seen more useful as being soft and pretty than dependable for flight. Teleportation, while a power, was something he was debating with himself would go well for him. Most importantly, he wondered where he would go first. He wanted to meet more gods like him, but he wasn’t thrilled to meet mortals yet.

Thinking about the prospect of traveling, he started to test his wings for what he was sure would be a lot of traversing. The God Haven already seemed large for him, but the mortal realm was massive from what he could see from this mountain’s peek. What all was out there and where were all these gods and goddesses going to made him anxious to find out, but he wasn’t thrilled about flying. What would it do to his hair? Would he be able to find anyone in such a big place? If he could FIND someone who would stay here longer than 1 minute, he was going to find out if he was doing this right.

Raiden never really bothered with this place. It was extremely boring. And he was somewhat skeptical of other gods. Not in a biig way, he was okay with meeting people! But it was also somewhat unnerving to think of a lot of them, and possibly the more... ah, aggressive ones. Besides, Death hung out here. Literally, he was over there, guarding the gates. Which is why whenever the god did come here, he generally avoided the gates, hanging out to the further areas of the haven.

In all honesty, Rai had no idea why he was here today. Perhaps he'd just given up on pestering Ethiopia, and had nothing better to do, but here he was, walking in the annoyingly predictable, somewhat eerie place. Eerie, because he could swear he'd seen a mortal soul just earlier. Ugh, creepy.

He shook his head and glanced around. Boring, boring, boring... Hey, wait, was he alone here? For the first time, there seemed to be a a bit of appeal, as he glanced down to the mortal realms, then around again. Hmmhmm.. I wonder if this place has an echo. He started with a small thunderclap, and then wondered why he hadn't thought of it before.

Soon enough, the God's Haven was a very noisy place, and Raiden was dancing around, keeping up with the beat. Awesome.

Despite the fact that souls traversed the area, it had hardly been that scary for Khuluma. As he saw it, the God Haven was just that. A haven that was made as a sanctuary for the gods, and sanctuaries meant you were safe from harm. It’s why he was hesitant to leave, and also why he felt it was the best place to meet other gods. He was proven wrong by how few gods he had met, but didn’t predict that today would be the day he would also be proven wrong on the other point.

While the godling had seen thunderclouds further below the mountain, out of reach from the higher altitude of the God Haven, he had never heard it as loud as he did now. The sudden thunderclap rang in his ears, and he stiffened, back armed and fur up, and his hair curled on end, the back of his usually curly mane sticking out at their ends. His jaw locked into a clench and his eyes went wide as he gripped the ground beneath him as the world seemed to be crashing out around him.

All hesitation he had about going to the mortal realm was thrown out of his mind and now he wanted to race to somewhere that wasn’t so deafening. Dear Gods and Goddesses, the God Haven was under attack and the world was breaking at its seams!!!

While Khuluma had enough confidence to talk to complete strangers and lead a conversation, having the world around him suddenly explode with unexplained explosions of noise was something he was not ready for. At times like this, he wished he had someone around to protect him, and he was reduced back to his age. When it became louder still, he breathed deep. Being ready for a large audience, Khuluma could pack some lungpower, and when he unlocked his mouth, he cried out as loudly as he could for ANYONNE to save him. “AHHH!! SOMEONE, MAKE IT STOP!!! THE WORLD'S EXPLODING!!! WHAT DO I DO? WHAT DO I DO? WHAT DO I DO? MAKE IT STOP! MAKE IT STOP! MAKE IT STOOOOOPPP!!!!!” God or Goddess of courage, bravery, silence, ANYTHING! He wasn’t picky. He just wanted it to be quite again and safe. Already his heart was pounding in his ears, which was rather hard to hear when one was going deaf.

Being a very loud creature, one would be surprised at how sensitive his ears were. Sensitive in the sense that he picked of small sounds, not in the sense that loud ones hurt. Right now, what mattered was this was acting in Khuluma's favor, as Raiden caught onto the screaming. He didn't shut the thunder up a first, let it keep going, before finally realizing that someone was screaming in.. fear. In less than a second, the loud claps and bangs stopped, seeming almost deafeningly silent after all the noise.

Raiden frowned, who the heck had interrupted his fun? Now he'd proceed with a bit of caution. Though he doubted a god that would be afraid of a little thunder would be dangerous, you could never really be sure. Fortunately, he found the source of the screaming quickly, and rolled his eyes. Godling, pfft. He rolled his eyes, approaching.

"What was that all about? Never heard any thunder before? " He snorted incredulously. Besides, who in their right mind could possibly dislike thunder, anyway?

It seemed his prayers, or more like screaming pleas for mercy, has been answered, and the world grew quite. When it did, he was left panting and looking above at the sky, but saw no signs of lightening or the first sighs of the world ending. While he heard what had been what could either be the worst degree of thunder there could be concocted, he had seen no other signs of why it was here. The God Haven had never had such unpredictable weather, if any new weather at all, and certainly not something so violent and loud.

As he caught his breath, he pried his claws from the ice below him, but kept his tail tightly between his legs. Common sense told him he might want to find cover while it was still quite. In comparison to the sounds from before, the silence was almost just as startling, and if it wasn’t for the fact he could hear and feel his heart pounding against his ribcage like a small bird wanting to flutter away, he might have thought he lost his hearing.

Since he was in the god Haven, he thought it was appropriate to give thanks to whoever it had been that had stopped t his, or maybe just thanking the world that he was alive and unharmed. “Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

When he heard someone, he yelped from his place, jumping and turning about with his claws gripping the ice below him, wings tight to his body, hair frizzing out from surprise, and his tail, well his tail was already between his legs, but it was now set in staying there.

When his brain caught up with him and surpassed fear, he noticed it was a dark looking god, smaller than the other gods he had seen, but still bigger than he was. And when it was snorting at him for being afraid of thunder (Had it really just been thunder?), he let his ears go back. “Of course I’m afraid. Thunder leads to rain, flooding, and lightening. It’s a warning sound, and certainly thunder that loud is something to take lightly! Did you not hear it?!” His eyes looked up at the sky again, but it seemed no different since it had been this morning, or the day before. His eyes settled back to the god. “I’ve never heard thunder that close before, and here of all places. It’s supposed to be safe here. I guess weather doesn’t count.” He looked back up at the sky, before his eyes shot bright and he stood up fully, a smile on his face. “HI! I— I haven’t seen you before? Who are you? ” In such a state, he forgot that there was another god. He had been lonely for a while, and it had been some time since he spoke to another god. The fact one was here nearly went fully noticed by him. He loved people!

For a mere moment, Raiden allowed himself to be amused by the reaction he'd gotten. Perhaps it was mean, but scaring cubs was actually somewhat funny. And this kid looked hilarious with his hair all puffed up. But then the kid seemed to find his voice again, and Rai frowned. "Wait, what? No, no no. You've got it all wrong. " Rai said impatiently, settling back on his haunches and waving his front paws around. "Lightning leads to thunder, not the other way around. " That had been so important he'd had to derail the conversation for it, duh.

"Of course I heard it! " He blinked, ears perking. "Makes this place a whole lot more interesting, if you ask me. " He huffed, thunder anywhere was nothing less than an improvement!

However, his little moments of indignation were cut short by the cub's sudden greeting. "Um.. Raiden. " He blinked, not so sure about the sudden change of topic.

Khuluma was torn between wanting to be friends and in turn, have someone to talk to, or the fact that this person had corrected him. Was he arguing with him? OH-no-no-no. Thinking about it, he managed to hear his faux pas. Apparently he had got the arrangement of thunder and lightning wrong. Since he hadn’t been in such weather before, he thought it was the other way around. Maybe he heard things differently, and figured it was the other way around? He made a mistake in his argument! Not wanting to admit he was wrong, he shook his head.

That’s not the point I was making. Either way, before or after, they usually go hand in hand. It’s still dangerous. It’s why anyone would be afraid. You’re supposed to or you could get hurt, and how does that make things interesting?! I don’t want to be struck down. Do you?” He looked up again, before looking back down. “Hm. I’m Khuluma. I’m glad you are around, Raiden. Do you think we should look for cover? Is it safe to stay around now? It seems to have stopped though. ” The godling stood up and looked up at the sky, wondering if he should postpone flying lessons and find a place in the city to stay.

"I hope it doesn't rain. My hair will freeze." He whined, not wanting to become cold and wet.

Raiden considered the possibility of arguing more, but, for whatever reason, he wasn't interested right now. Strange, somewhat out of character for him, perhaps. Insetad, he zoned out a bit as the cub kept on talking, before finally catching on to something he could comment on.

"It's not going to rain, that was just the sound. " He sighed. "I'm the god of thunder, I was doing that. Completely untied from any natural causes. No air pressure changes, " Though he could have done that too. "or lightning or anything. Just the sound. " There, now lets see if the kid would calm the heck down or... other things.

And that shut Khuluma up. He had wanted to prove his point, but he did not know that he was before the God of Thunder himself. To find that his argument didn’t even matter in the end, though he was still right in believing he had reacted in an appropriate fashion to the conditions, was still enough to annoy him. Why hadn’t the god told him that from the start?! At least now he would not have to worry about rain or lightening, both of which were something he did not want to fall upon him at an moment. Khuluma didn’t even need to worry that something bad had jeopardized the safety of the haven, not that he had any powers to protect it aside from screaming to warn others (though he was sure that everyone would have heard the noise first and would not need him to alert them during the entire ruckus).

Now that there was no danger, he felt himself deflate and he sat down, pouting as noticed his hair. “I did not know.” He guessed he couldn’t yell at the god for doing something that he, as a god, was in charge of. “Maybe you should warn others before doing that. I thought it wasn’t safe here anymore.” He looked out, noticing that the god haven was just as it had been. In fact, he noticed that no other gods or goddesses had come out to see what the commotion was about. Either they did not care to investigate the thunder or, worse yet, he really was alone here. Frowning, he looked back over to the god. “Raiden, do you come here a lot to make thunder? I haven’t seen or heard you before? Will you come again to make thunder?” Maybe each time he heard him, he found find him to talk.

Maybe others should man up and not freak out over a little sound.. he bit back the retort before it came, because he supposed, at least, the kid wasn't being troubling anymore. But honestly, if he warned people... they might try to stop him. "No, I don't usually come here. Boring as heck. " He shrugged.

"I come around every now and then on the off chance that something is happening. But nothing ever happens. " He snorted. Eternity could be quite a long time, if you think about it. Thankfully, you aren't always the same for all eternity. Rai disliked the idea of mortality, but rebirth was pretty appealing. All in it's due time, of course.

"Given the results of this time, no. I'll stick to terrorizing cubs in the mortal realm. "

Oh.” At the fact that Raiden would not be around again, he frowned, looking around. He was right. It was boring here, which was probably why no one was around. Maybe he wasn’t supposed to be around here. If all gods and goddesses were around doing their own business, maybe he should find some business for himself. He was good at what he did after all. It seemed Raiden was too, seeing as he could make thunder like the type he just heard. Expert Thunder.

No one comes around here. I guess I should go to the mortal realm. I see all the other gods do it. Do you know where they go? Do you all meet each other somewhere? Where do you like to go?” His eyes looked out beyond the city at the thought, tail slinking out from between his legs. If he had to find his way, he should ask someone where they went. Right? It made sense, and Raiden was older than him, which meant he should at least know a bit more than he did. He only hoped he was helpful, though he seemed nice. Well, when he wasn’t causing him to nearly die of fright. “It’s very vast out there, but I’m sure it’s more occupied than it is here. I bet it’s not ‘boring’ there. Right?” His bright eyes returned to the Thunder God with high hopes.

"If you want, " He shrugged. The choice of going or staying was up to Khuluma, after all. "And we go wherever we want to go. No, we don't usually meet. I mean, I guess I meet my mom and my siblings... but not all gods really have that stuff. " The amusing thing about being a god seemed to be that you weren't always born the 'natural' way. "Eh, I go around. Not really tied down anywhere. " It helped that when you're a god you can essentially go wherever in the blink of an eye.

"And yes, it's definitely not boring down there, if you can think of something to do. Which is easy. " He smirked. "You can show up as a god, not show up at all or.. well, play with the mortals a bit. " He smirked. "Mix in with them, if you want. " As if to demonstrate, Raiden's wings and horns vanished, and suddenly he looked just like any other mortal.

"Whatever, really. "

It seemed that visiting other gods was something other gods didn’t often do, unless related. Well, he’d have to fix that, because it wasn’t like he could go out and find siblings. Did he even have any? If so, why were they not here? As for mortals, well, he didn’t know about them. Being a god was rather prestigious, and mortals knew so much of many things. He doubted they could rival his abilities. For now, he wanted to see if the gods were up to par with his powers and learn from the masters (and mistresses) of all the domains. Even Raiden here was very educated, as he had corrected him on his argument. He mentioned the science behind thunder and lightning by where they fell in place in regards to each other, and he also mentioned pressure changes and sound. He was sure that if he had any agreements about Thunder, Raiden would be the one to talk to.

The thought made him swell with hoping that some day, he would have something to argue with Raiden. He was sure there was something out there.

As Raiden seemed to give him information, he also demonstrated, and Khuluma watched his beautiful wings and horns leave. “Mortals look rather bland.” He eyed Raiden up and down, and stood up, trying it out himself. Thinking or mortals, he let his body ease and he felt his wings vanish from sight. He liked his wings, and seeing them gone made him frown, so he returned them. Much better. Looking back, he grinned to Raiden, energized by the prospect to leave now. “ I would rather meet others gods. That’s what I want to do. I want to talk to ALL of them. It’s what I do best. I’m the God of Rhetoric. I wouldn’t want to talk to mortals when I could talk to a gods instead. I guess if they go where they want to go, I’ll have to go where they go. I'm sure they will take me to interesting places." He could only imagine the places gods went. " That’s all I want right now. I don’t want to be bored and alone here anymore.” Such advice was treasured by the small god, and he went up and rubedb up against the taller god’s chin. “Thank you. You may have a loud domain, but you have helped me! I forgive you for making a commotion.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 23, 2009 6:08 pm

"Eh, I guess. " He shrugged, but there were a lot of.. freaky mortals down there. A thing Raiden loved, but would never admit, was the insane variety of life down in the mortal realm. All the varieties of animals, plants, terrain... Mkodi had really done a good job.

"Well, you're not gonna find that many here. " He shrugged. Most gods hung around the mortal realms anyway, toying with the mortals, or attaching themselves to them. He paused his thoughts listening to the cub. Boy, did this kid like to hear the sound of his own voice or what? "Well, then get out of here. All you gotta do is want to. " Raiden said, unaware of the fact this kid didn't really know how to fly yet or quite use teleportation.

... Wait, did he say he 'forgave' him? Rai frown. "I didn't ask you to forgive me. " He huffed. There was nothing to forgive! Raiden hadn't done anything wrong.

Khuluma shot back low to the ground, stepping back at the sound of Raiden’s voice. He sounded mad, and his natural reaction was to back away, clear of Raiden’s limbs and ears back, he looked up from a slightly lower position he had before. “…yeah, but you scared me. Aren’t you sorry?” He didn’t think Raiden needed to ask, and that Khuluma had done him a favor by being polite and just forgiving him with the awkwardness of him having to ask for it. Was Raiden the type to intentionally go around scaring others without caring? Then again, he did say he liked messing with mortals, but Khuluma was not a mortal. The Thunder god, while doing what his domain suggested, must of at least felt something for the fact that he had seen him be afraid.
