Story
A perpetual loner, August had no friends or family growing up. He decided that he didn't need others, and that befriending them would be a waste of time. Much of his early life is unknown, and he refuses to talk about it with anyone.
August, despite his dislike for others, is a perpetual flirt. He more often flirts with females than males, but has had tendencies to flirt with males as well. He would never put himself in a committed relationship and flirts for the fun of it.
Hector was the first person August connected with. He found him locked in his room by himself, with no friends or contact with others. Instead of being resentful, like August was, he was open and friendly. His attitude confused and intrigued August, and he couldn't help but go back and visit him again.
He visited him many times a year, listening to all the things Hector had learned. August grew to be very fond of Hector, but one day Hector told August he'd be going away for several months and they wouldn't see each other. Hector was going to a school that was far away. August couldn't understand why Hector needed anybody but him for company, and so he got mad and left, not returning to Hector's window.
When August did return, he was sure Hector would be there. He was sure Hector would not have left knowing that August was mad at him. Hector wasn't in his room though. August went back every day for a week but not once was he there. Afterward, August went searching for Hector, positive he'd be able to find him.
August found Hector at Hogwarts, the school he'd left to go to. It was a magical place that August couldn't understand. He couldn't stand to leave Hector again, worried that with all these new and fascinating people Hector would lose interest in him. So August stayed at the school throughout the year, careful to avoid detection. He stayed so that he could keep Hector all to himself.

Story
Hector was born ill and weak of the body. He wasn't allowed outside to play with others, so often found himself in his room where he read books and filled his mind with knowledge. When he got a bit older, a strange Tasmahou, August, came to his window one day to laugh at his "prison," as he called it. Hector paid no mind to his insult, but instead told him of the wonderful things he learned in his readings.
August didn't come back for a long time, in fact it was several months before Hector saw him again. This time August didn't laugh at him as much for being in his room all the time, instead he sat there and listened to what Hector had to tell him about what he'd learned. Their relationship continued like this for quite some time; August would come visit Hector at his window, and Hector would tell August about what he'd learned.
When Hector received his letter for Hogwarts he was extremely excited. He was going to go away and travel, and learn many new and exciting things. He told August this, and expected him to be happy. Instead August became furious that he was going away and leaving. August didn't come back to Hector's window for the rest of the summer.
Hector was excited at Hogwarts and found the experience thrilling. He was easily sorted into Ravenclaw for all that he had learned and his yearning to learn more. Hector stayed at school for the holidays. When Christmas came around he was walking the grounds and August came out the woods. He was angry with Hector for leaving him without so much as a goodbye.
August stayed at Hogwarts the rest of the year, staying in the forest and out of site of most students and teachers.
