Life could take the most unexpected changes, sometimes catching even the most collected of individuals unawares. Motherhood hadn't been much of a surprise, nor had she been startled by the fact that a cheetah sired her cubs. Perhaps she'd wanted children all along after all, and she wasn't choosy about species. Speaking of whom, though... her children were off and about hunting, or playing, maybe practicing hunting or even arguing as they were sometimes wont to do. She loved them dearly but couldn't help being mildly amused at how lively they were (She could remember clearly from who they'd gotten it, though.).
As this rare moment of silence had befallen her Kinda'hima was almost unsure of what to do with herself. Should she take the time to have a sun bath, or get an early start on dinner?
Hmm...
Well, a sun bath sounded best right then. She'd rather if the family hunt as a unit as they often did, though it usually required no small amount of coercion to get her daughter to help. It was good practice, though. Even as she thought this she felt her mind beginning to shut down once she found a good, warmed rock to climb onto and drape herself neatly over. How she'd missed doing this on the beach back in her birth pride, but finding new places and what they had to offer had too much appeal to simply return home straight away. What was her dear sister and the rest of their family up to back home, she would usually find herself pondering, and these short spans of peace were the perfect chance to do it.
Sun bathing it would be, then.

Home. He had finally found it. It had taken him months of fruitless searching before he'd stumbled across the Ukuucha'Wafalme lands. It didn't take him long to find a pad to welcome him into the pride and teach him their ways, which he found quite to his liking indeed. However, before he could be accepted, he was told, he'd have to find himself a female for his harem. He had missed the big raid they had had for such a purpose so it was his responsibility to find one on his own.
Moyo'wa'jiwe smirked as he padded through the dry savanna. This should be no problem at all. Find a good-looking girl and bring her back to the pride's territory for initiation. He flicked his tail as he stopped for a moment, surveying the area. It wasn't long until he saw something golden-brown with hints of white splashed across a large rock. He could tell it was a feminine form stretched out and relaxing. Perfect.
He headed closer to the female, picking up speed, calculating how to capture her as he ran.

With the sun beating down as kindly as it was on that afternoon it would have been easy for Kinda to drift off to sleep just like that.
Would have been, but not for the sound of paws racing towards her spot. She lazily opened her eyes, wondering if it was someone she knew. Surely those steps were too heavy to belong to either of her children, but who could she know this far out?
Indeed the male was unfamiliar, and she slowly sat up, pulling her weight forward with her front paws and propping herself to stand with a push from her back ones, watching. Would he stop... or should she be wary...? She had no reason to distrust strangers, and generally she was very trusting, but she was far from naive or foolish. If he came at her with the clear intention to attack she would take a fight or flight action.

As he approached the female, he gained a much clearer view of her body, and noticed she appeared to be a female who could hold her own with someone her own size. Granted, he was much larger and stronger than her but he wanted to avoid a fight if possible, so he decided it might be best to try to speak to her about the pride before simply snatching her up. He slowed down some, pulling up beside her rock with a quick trot and a broad, warm smile.
"Hello there!" he said, perking his big ears to try and look more friendly or cute. He settled down onto his haunches a few feet away from her to show he was not intending to attack (at least, not yet) and wrapped his long tail around his feet. "My name is Moyo'wa'jiwe, but call me Moyo. I noticed you out here and thought you might be passed out, because you weren't moving. Now I see you are indeed doing fine, but as there do not appear to be any herds or watering holes for quite a distance, I wanted to invite you to visit my pride's lands to get something to drink or a bite to eat, if you wish?"

"Hmm, hello to you too, traveling stranger." Kinda smiled, shifting her paws against the warm rock briefly as she watched him stop next to it. "Thank you for your concern, but I am indeed fine. I simply couldn't resist a bit of a rest. The sun is just lovely today, is it not, Moyo? My name is Kinda'hima, you may shorten it as you wish."
Heh, so she'd been right! Again. She'd yet to encounter a single threat out here that she didn't expect, and this was why she'd ditched her escort in the first place and opted to stay out in these lands.
Comfortable, she glanced the way he'd come from as if she could see his pride's lands from there. Of course she couldn't, but she was gently curious. "I would normally consider, however, I have to decline I'm afraid. I'm waiting here for my own family to return, we'll be hunting then, my children and I. I'm always curious about new places though. Where might you be from?"

Moyo glanced up at the sky, nodding. "Yes it is," he said patiently, although inside he was growing restless. He glanced back at the female, smiling gently.
"I come from the Pride of Kings," he replied proudly. "It's a very welcoming pride and it's not too far. I'm sure you'd be back in time to catch your family. I'll be worried about you all afternoon if I don't see to it that you're treated to a good meal."

Kinda thought nothing of his insistance except that he was persistant, but she certainly didn't suspect anything out of the ordinary. Maybe if she had she would have been spared what Moyo had planned. As it was she simply smiled, tail ticking passively behind her. "Thank you, Moyo, again, but I really must pass. I want to be here when they return, and that could be any moment now. I assure you that I'll be alright. I've lived in these rogue lands for quite some time now."
She was a bit interested in his pride, though, and as she glanced back over her shoulder to see if her children were approaching, she did ask.
"It seems like we've traveled so far, is this pride by chance by the sea?" She asked, turning back to face him again.
((Provided that as an opening in case you wanted him to take her totally by surprise.))

Moyo nodded as she spoke to him, but he had reached his wit's end with this stubborn female. This was not supposed to be as difficult as it was turning out to be; at least, not in his mind. He had envisioned it to be a simple task: sweet-talk a female into accompanying him, then convince (or force) her to stay. He hadn't even considered the possibility of a lioness turning him down.
"No," he murmured distractedly, "it's close to a lake, though." Tired of the idle conversation when apparently his goal was nowhere in sight, he reacted without completely thinking - he whacked the lioness across the face with considerable force with an enormous paw.

Apparently she hadn't been living in the rogue lands long enough, for she never saw the strike coming, and had in fact let her guard drop completely. She turned just so, just enough in time to see the paw from the corner of her eye, then WHACK. She toppled sideways in surprise and smacked her head against the very rock that she'd been dozing on, then everything went black.
((One unconscious Kinda! biggrin ))

Moyo sighed, watching the female fall sideways. Why did it have to come to this? Why couldn't she be totally complacent? With a grunt, he shoved his face under the female's side, carefully rolling her limp body onto his back. Once he was sure Kinda was secure enough for him to walk with, he started on his way back to the pride's territory. He was tired, now, and hoped that once he arrived with his prize, the initiation would be over soon and he could rest with the lovely lioness and introduce her to his ways.
