And why did you stick with them?
As for me, well...
The very, very first time Fall Out Boy was ever mentioned to me was when my friend was watching some show or another on MTV or FUSE or whatever and I wasn't paying attention in any way, shape or form, I had Green Day playing lightly in my ears (loudly enough to drown out the TV, but quiet enough so that I knew when someone was talking to me and could understand them) and I was reading some magazine and eating something. I guess Fall Out Boy was on, 'cause my friend repeated the line 'Don't mind me I'm watching you two from the closet, wishing to be the friction in your jeans.' And we're both, like, 'Alrighty then.'
The first time I ever saw Fall Out Boy was in the Sugar video, I just adore the way Patrick appears to be smiling while he's lip-syncing. My first impression was 'They look like they're having so much fun doing this. You can tell that they're in this for fun, not just to earn money, or be famous. You can tell they're so happy to be where they are.' And when I saw him smile, I had to smile too. I loved the Deerboy thing. So cool, so random. It made me smile. I adore anyone that makes me smile, 'cause not much does. Partnered with the amazing lyrics, I fell in love with it. I had to hear more. I listened to as much as I could get my hands on, and loved it just as much. I impulsively bought From Under the Cork Tree and Take This to Your Grave, confess, I obsessed. Later, I came to the lovely Gaian Fall Out Boy thread and met a lot of you guys.
Oh, my, I love to ramble.
If I have put this in the wrong forum, move me. I don't care. I'm sorry if I did, but I have no clue where to put this.

I think I was discussing Green Day with some other Gaian, and they told me about FOB. I checked them out, and totally fell in love with Sugar. Got their album not long after.

OKay, I was at my neighbors house and he had the T.V. on. a small clip for Sugar came on and a ad for FUCT. I was like "Whoa, they're hot and nerdy." Then another AD video came on and it was Interpol. Then I kinda forgot about them. Then I found a site called www.punkrockvids.com and I was like browsing through. I saw a video for them playing Sugar on Conan and I was like "they sound familiar..." so I watched it. Pete and Patrick were wearing and I was like "fags..." and I like TOTALLY loved their performance. I found a Realient K video too and those were the to things I went on the computer for EVERY TWO SECONDS! Then I went to Target and bought FUCT and Mhmmm by Relient K. The Relient K CD is collecting dust in my closet... I listened to that CD and it got to the point to where I had to listen to listen to it to get to sleep ha ha. I heard they were gonna be at the Warped Tour so I went-AND FELL IN FREAKIN LOVE! I loved the way they played on stage. My brother made me leave early so I didn't camp outside their bus stare Then the next day I got TTTYG cause they played songs I didn't know. Then I got EEWYG and MHWABTBSTMT off the net xp so I so I ditn't get the DVD stuff. Then I saw there was a FOB official thread and I came in. The people there loved FOB as much as me. YAY! wink I listened to as much FOB as I could get my hands on. Then the FREAKIN FANTASTIC people made this guild and like BOO-AND-YAH!

First i've seen the 'Grand Theft Autumn' video but wasnt impressed by it. (i was sick of American bands at the time)
later ooon, my crush loved them whee (well he still does, but i dont have a crush on him anymore)
he kept talking about how much they were awesome, sending me their songs and wanted me to go to their concert (last winter) with him and his friends but for some infortunate reasons i couldnt go sweatdrop
yeah that's how it all started

I was surfing Purevolume and I guess some how I got to their page and one of their songs started playing, and I've loved them ever since.

I saw one of their videos on FUSE a year ago i think.I fell in love with them and got Take This To Your Grave not a day after.Loved them ever since. heart

the way i got interested in Fall Out Boy is by.. over the summer i was babysitting to get some extra cash and all i had to do was set around and make sure the kids didnt fight..well one day i was setting around watching tv and i was flipping through channels and i passed FUSE well i caught a glimps of this deer like thing and i turned it bac to see what it was a it was the little deer dude off of the sugar were going down video after i saw that i fell in love with FOB's randomness..

I'm prefacing this with a "I don't watch TV or listen to the radio much."
This past summer (yeah, that recently) I was stuck in a house for couple of weeks without much to do, so I watched TV, caught the "Sugar, We're Goin' Down" video a few times with my sister's commentary on how weird the video was, liked the song, downloaded the rest of their music, and have been loving it ever since.

My cousin.
She was playing FOB really loud on her iPod and I was like, WTF Lindsay.
So she told me about them.
And I listened to them on Purevolume.
And I loved them.
End of story.

Umm...well I first heard them back in the day when Grand Theft Autum came out, and I was in love with that song and then I forgot about it but when Sugar came out of was like "Holy Frikkin Crap...I so tottally love them". So I bought the cds (both the old one and the new one) and it was like meant to be. Of course I completely despise Sugar now, and my best friend has become even more obsessive over them than me and it's all my fault cause I let her listen to them. Good think she <3's Pat and I <3 Andy...

What happened with me is that my friend (who use to know little to nothing about modern music xd ) met this guy and got to know him, and he loved Fall Out Boy...my friend fell in love with them too...especially "Grand Theft Autumn (Where Is Your Boy?)" and so he put it on his xanga.
Consequently I fell in mad friggin love with it, made him send me the song...didn't listen to anything else for about three days. Yes, just one song. And I listened to it NONSTOP. I listened to it on repeat as soon as I got up in the morning, and listened to it until I had to go into my first class. I would listen to it in class if I could. I'd listen to it in passing periods...I listened to it during lunch...I listened to it as soon as we got out of school all the way until I had to go to bed. (Exceptions of when I had to eat dinner IF I was eating with the family that night.)
I was obsessed with that song. I knew I'd probably fall in love with the rest of their music too, so I decided not to act upon getting their CDs yet because I was obsessed with Green Day at the time, and they'd already eaten up another obsession I could have had. I didn't want that to happen with Fall Out Boy. So about a month later, I burned MHWABTB-STMT from my friend, and I really liked it...but still didn't listen to it much. About a month after that, I started listening to it A LOT. I fell in love...my Green Day obsession was dying...I think it was the next day that I went out and bought TTTYG. I found out a couple days later that there was a concert in a couple weeks, so I got tickets. I also found out it was about 4 days after the release of their new album. So I went out and bought FUCT the day it came out and tried to memorize it before the concert and succeeded. The concert was amazing, and...here I am. mrgreen sweatdrop
