Oh dear... it seemed she was lost. Orah wandered in a general 'forward' direction, brown eyes wide and confused. Everything about her was unfamiliar, everything was new and strange. Where was she? That question was uppermost in her mind, but another nagged at the back of it, a sneaking little thought of 'Where did I come from?'. She honestly didn't know, which made her confusion total. Her past was a blurr, her future something not even she could see, and the present, well... it was like stepping out of a dimly lit cave into bright mid-day sun. Everything was so... BRIGHT. And colorful.

"Hello?" She called out, almost dainty paws padding forward and a sedate pace. Whether she'd been wandering for a while or only a few minutes at most, she didn't much feel like running... she was tired, and what was the point anyway? Without somewhere to go, there was little reason to hurry to it.

"Please..." She breathed as she laid her ears back forlornly. She could feel the loneliness welling up inside of her, squeezing her heart. Orah really, really disliked being alone...

Somewhere on the savanna, a mother hare was crying because all of her kits had mysteriously vanished...

...Into Tariq'ra'd's belly.

Tongue trailing noisily over his bloodied lips, a yawn slipped out of the male's maw, and he regarded his surroundings with very little interest. His banu were out hunting together, but despite knowing they would bring him back something to eat, sometimes he liked to hunt things on his own. And since baby hare was so openly on the menu, the dark male just couldn't resist. He would've had the mother, too, but she was no where to be seen.

How unfortunate for her~!

Smirking, the male rose to his feet, shook the dust from his pelt, and turned to head back to his den. As he turned, a rare breeze swept through the air, and Tariq caught a very pleasant but unfamiliar scent. Blinking, he shifted directions and went off to investigate. But no sooner had he begun to walk when he heard a tiny, quaking voice call out a cry for help.

Something lit the back of the male's eyes and he stared blankly ahead, gaze fixated on a brown figure in the not-too-far-away distance. A brown, striped delight for the eyes, with golden bangles and purple feathers on her ear.

"I think I'm in love..." the male whispered to himself, eyes drinking in her form. Then his dark, greedy expression was replaced with a pleasant grin, and the male took off in an even-paced walk towards the pretty stranger.

"Hey, there!" he called, sounding nothing at all like a threat. "Are you alright?"

The voice calling back was a bit of a startlement for the lioness and she stopped in her tracks, her head jerked up and ears perked prettily. She was all wide-eyed, feminine surprise as the black male came padding up, radiating masculinity and strangely enough, safety. At least she wasn't completely alone in the whole world... that would have been torture, and despite the lovely surroundings, she might have thought she'd died and gone to hell. Though -that- idea seemed odd to her, somehow.

"Sir! Oh! I'm so glad to see you!" Orah bubbled as she danced closer to him, laying her ears back shyly, tilting her head down so she looked up at him. "I'm... okay, I supposed, but I'm afraid I'm horribly lost... I don't suppose you can tell me where I am?" There was a note of distress to her voice, real and not feigned.

Whether this male believed her lady-like 'act' or not, there was no artifice to Orah, no need or impulse to lie, and had someone suggested it, she'd have been shocked as it had never even occurred to her.

Lucky girl, some would have thought, that the first person so happened upon was a handsome male with lovely rose eyes. Little did anyone, least of all Orah, know what she had found. But it remained to be seen, how things would go from here.

Beauty. Softness. Politeness. Refined manner of speech. Feminine gestures as she spoke.

Perrrrrrfeccccccct.

Hardly believing his own eyes and ears, Tariq seemed to hesitate for just a brief moment as he regarded the confused female. A surge of thoughts splashed over him and he paused for a moment to debate his next course of action. Not only to debate his next course of action, but to consider every single thing the female had just said in her few sentences. There was a way to play every game. No game was ever identical to another. You had to use different rules every time; different techniques, styles, moves, words...

Tariq loved playing games.

"Aww, getting lost is really scary." the male said compassionately, frowning. "But you're not lost anymore, 'cause I'm gonna tell you where you are." he grinned. "This is the Ukuucha'Wafalme pride. It's a really, really nice pride...Do you live nearby?"

Orah would have blushed if she could have when he commiserated with her plight. It felt rather... nice, to have what appeared to be a strong male taking a concern over a silly little thing like her. She didn't feel worthy of it, but she was grateful none-the-less.

"Really?" She perked up at the though of such a kind act from him, her whole demeanor brightening. Ukuucha'Wafalme... a long name, but not a bad one. It sounded interesting, actually. So, -that's- where she was. Sadly though... it didn't tell her much. It was a name and that was just about it. She could place it in no mental map... and if anything, she couldn't even picture a mental map of any kind. Odd.

"Oh, um... where I live?" She ducked her head again, staring at her paws in embarrassment. "I... truthfully, I don't know. I suppose I might. I don't think I've been wandering all that long, but I truly don't know where I just came from, or where I was going. I'm just... Lost, in every sense of the word." And the more she thought about it, the more agitated she felt. She couldn't -remember-, and the the harder she tried, the more things got jumbled up and confused.

And, of course, when Orah got upset, her eyes started to water. She blinked quickly, trying to hold back a sudden rush of tears. There were far too many questions for a little lioness like her, and too much uncertainty. It just wasn't fair!

Lost?

Or...possessing no memories?

The more Tariq watched and listened to the female, the more he began to get strange ideas about her. He wondered who she was, where she was from, where she was going, why she was where she was....She was a mystery just begging to be solved. And Tariq wanted to do the solving. It would be him, no one else. Because he would have this female for himself. Not Faiz, nor Aali, nor anyone else would take her from him...No one would tell him she was better suited for someone else. He found her, and she was going to stay with him.

He'd make sure of that.

"I've never heard of someone who didn't know where their home was..." he said softly, eyes flickering over the female's face. It was obvious she was becoming frustrated with her lack of answers. She seemed confused--even scared. When someone got like that, they became quite easy to manipulate. And Tariq suspected he could simply get this female to follow him into the pride of her own free will if he wanted to...if she decided she wanted to...

"Maybe...You don't have a home?" he ventured, trying to seem as though he were guessing at his own thoughts. He knew very well the game he was playing, however. Letting that thought plant itself in the female's mind, Tariq moved on rather quickly. "Well, whether you do or not, you could always stay here for a while...Until you remember." he offered, flashing a charming smile. His heart was racing as anticipation clutched his insides. "You could stay as long as you like."

'Come into my parlor' said the spider to the fly...

Had Orah been able to remember anything from before the moment she'd walked into Tariq, she might have seen his ploy as a handsome male looking for a lithsome female, at the least, or even guessed at the motives behind his too-suave smile. Had she been anyone else, she might have turned tail right then and there, making up some excuse or reason for why she had to be... somewhere else.

But, well... she was Orah.

"Not... not have a home?" She said softly, her eyes widening as she glanced up at him, tears making them bright. Oh, that wasn't a good thought at all! That was an even worse feeling than not knowing... And his offer to stay seemed like a gift from the gods at that moment. Here was a male, offering safety and shelter for a lost little female with no past, seemingly unconditional protection while she gathered her scattered mind. Almost too good to be truth, surely.

"Oh! Really?" Orah brightened with his offer, her eyes shining with hope now. That's just what she needed! A place where she could think and try to remember, where she wouldn't be lost or lonely. "That's so kind of you, um... sir." She stumbled, unable to remember if he'd offered a name or not. "I don't know how I can repay you for your kindness... My name is Orah. I'll try not to be a burden while I'm here. I can fend for myself, and even do a little more to help your, um, pride out." No idea what she was getting herself into, but life was all about surprises, wasn't it?

Tariq wasn't all bad, contrary to popular belief. It wasn't as though he didn't care about the female at the moment. In fact, his head was buzzing with concern and curiosity. He did have some sympathy to her situation, and even felt some instinct to protect her. But perhaps he was merely curious above anything else. Who was she, where did she come from, and why was she there? She had no concept of masking emotions, gorgeous eyes shining with tears as confusion and fear swept over her. She was a puzzle box of intriguing jewels just for Tariq to figure out...but that box was locked right now. He would have to find the key with time...but that would be sooner than he had previously anticipated. She was falling right into his arms. Politely, too. Tariq needed a banu like that.

There would be no dark tricks or sly motives as long as she came with him willingly, and decided to stay with him. And why wouldn't she want to stay? Perhaps he'd even let her go once she figured out what the blazes she was doing. And that was fine, Tariq thought. But perhaps by that time...she wouldn't want to leave? Only time would tell, and all of the unanswered questions and possibilities were making Tariq positively giddy.

The dark male flashed another excited smile at the female, not at all putting on an act--he really was happy she was willing to join him in the pride. First, perhaps it would just be a place for her to stay, but then...he would teach her of the pride, and she would be his.

"Don't be frightened, Orah. And don't worry about being a burden. My name is Tariq'ra'd." he said kindly. And for once, it may have been that he wasn't acting...but not many could tell what was truly going on inside Tariq's head. "We'll take it slow at first..." he said smoothly, body shifting around as his imagination danced. "And no one will expect too much of you. There are many other females who I'm sure would love to be your friend, too. You'll be...our guest." he said, smiling. If that didn't seal the deal, Tariq didn't know what would. With that, the male turned around and cast a smile over his shoulder at the female, nodding his head as a sign for her to follow. He knew she would follow.

She was clay in his paws. Shining, sparkling clay...

Guest? Oh, yes, she could do that. How kind it was of them, and him, to offer her a place. Her smile was more radiant this time, her steps lighter and with a pretty little bounce to them as she stepped up to join him.

"I think that will suit me just fine. I would be very grateful for it, thank you." She said, shyly dropping her head in a nod this time. Now that she had linked herself with him, she felt a shyness fall about her. What if something went wrong, and they didn't like her? What if she failed horribly and made a mess of everything? She'd have to trust Tariq to help her through it, to protect her and show her the way. For now, she'd have to be dependent on him and his hospitality... which didn't seem such a bad thing once she thought about it.

There was many paths branching off the crossroads she stood at, leading to ends where she was nothing more than a pretty adornment for him, a barer of cubs, a broken and sullen slave... and worse paths, things that couldn't be guessed at. It was anyone's guess which one her steps would take her down now.
