Lately I have started to draw seriously. I was wondering if I could post several examples, and if people could check through those examples, and give me advice on how I could improve my drawing. At some point in the far future I do want to be able to draw realistically, however I want to also be able to keep drawing my own style. That style I want to be semi anime, and semi realistic. I think if you check my examples, it will be less confusing, and a bit more obvious. If you could give me tips to help me achieve this affect, I would be highly grateful.

The bodies are fine, but the head and faces are out of proportion.
To small, and jaw lines are to sharp.

The only suggestion I have is look at anime and realistic pictures on head; measure, joint down some notes, and attempt. Even tracing helps when getting better at drawing heads.

I am not trying to shoot you down, you are doing good but work more on them. Do a few bust shots (Head, neck, and shoulders)

Do I have to make the heads bigger or something?

I think you should practice drawing bigger eyes and then smaller eyes and smaller and smaller until it fits on the face with good proportions.

I totally used to use that tutorial. Although for a long time, it still wasn't that easy for me even with the step by step. Something about being unable to draw the lines the right length or distance or something.

To ElemenTalia: Tutorials are the way to go though. There are tons on deviantart. Even if you don't get it initially, they get you on the right track thinking about how to improve your drawings and once you understand a concept, it's a lot easier to do things you used to have a lot of trouble with. And I suppose I should eat my own words for swearing off drawing guys, but I speak the truth!

your work looks great for first serious drawings. ^^

as i understand from your explaination you want to draw realistic
with an anime touch?

i've been in that style too and i love it! but one thing you got to do is; look at real humans instead! it's easier to give a real human figure anime features plus this is better for creating an own style. i know to start draw realistic is hard and very tempting to give up after the so many times your mouth or nose doesnt work out. Take pictures of the internet you like print them and draw the important lines over this gives you a feel how the face is built. When you drawn a few of them you'll see you don't need the pictures anymore becayse you feel how the face needs to be. If you are having tourble with one part of the face keep on practicing that one paper for exmaple drawing a full page of eyes. The body is a chapter apart and is very hard to draw right. It needs lots of studying from pictures and anatomic drawings, picture pictures pictures is the best thing to start with and great for references. As real artist say: Better stolen good, then bad invented.
