Nope, not a project rifle!

But something probably just as time and money consuming.

A new game that I heard about called Fallen Earth.
It seems pretty awesome and other than the stiff riding on the ATV and the normal online lag, the game seems to be really cool.

http://www.fallenearth.com/

Some game play.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQctAn3Jjes

Video part two is on the right column.

At first I was bawing because the game got my hopes up and then I saw the gameplay video and it went down when I saw third person camera.
But only temporary! Because near the end of the video and just before I clicked submit to my, 'God dammit I had my hopes up for this game but it's third person' complaint, the demonstrator said, 'This is third person and first person' I couldn't click cancel fast enough and a manly tear beaded in my eye.

Now, this is an FPS MMORPG.
... I'm still reeling from the potential awesomeness of this enterprise.
While I'm not looking forward to getting PKed from afar, I hope there are 'normal' servers, but anyway it would be nice to make a few friends and go out scavaging together or go on a raid on the raiders.

I am a bit biased, in the gameplay footage I saw a G36x which to me makes the game instant Win.

The game is much like WoW in the payment department.
You pay for the game, get 30 free days and for any time after that you gotta pay $14.99 a month, or pay 6 months recurring for a lump sum that comes out to be 12.99 or 13.99(cant remember which) a month or some such thing.
Buying time in bulk would be the best description.

Best thing about it is that I just heard about it so I haven't been waiting a whole year or two for it's release. However I will be waiting 8 more days.
Perhaps more if they're not on shelves in Target.
:/ I have a gift card. Otherwise I would have driven to Gamestop and preordered the game and would be beta testing it right now.

The game does have a selection of Melee weapons of course, and if you're into that, awesome!
I'd just be using melee as a backup to my backup.

And if you had heard about this game, why haven't you posted about it?

I'm not paying for another online game. It's bad enough I keep buying NX for Combat Arms.

I'm a cheap, poor b*****d. I already have enough in the way of monthly costs. And a distinct lack of income.

Since I have time, money, and a distinct thirst for awesome, I might have to give this a look. But my laptop doesn't have a CD drive, so I don't know if it's possible.

Well, if you have a mini-laptop it might not perform well with this game.

Windows XP SP3 or Windows Vista SP1
DirectX 9.0c

Minimum Hardware

Pentium 4 2.8 GHz or AMD equivalent
1 GB RAM for XP, 2 GB for Vista
NVIDIA Geforce 6600/ATI Radeon X1300
256 MB Video Ram
10 GB Hard-Drive Space

Recommended Hardware

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33 GHz or equivalent
2 GB for XP, 3 GB for Vista
nVidia GeForce 8800GTS/ ATI Radeon 3870
512 MB Video Ram

My graphics card is quite old, but it will probably run it fine on med-low settings.
Radeon X1300

If your laptop does meet the minimum requirements, suggested or anywhere in between, they have a 'Direct2Drive' method.
You can get it here;

http://www.direct2drive.com/6/8137/product/Buy-Fallen-Earth-Download

and if you do buy it through there with their download option you'll be able to play on the beta release until it's released in ~6 days.

I would do it myself, but $30 of it is in Target gift cards and I like having a physical copy.

Have you thought of getting an external CD/DVD/Hard Drive adaptor?
I got this for my hardware/software class.

http://www.amazon.com/USB-2-0-SATA-5-25-Adapter/dp/B000J2GUS0/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1253054516&sr=8-16

More or less, box is a bit different, same thing though.
I used it for diagnosing issues in class but now I use it as a cheap and easy External hard drive and cd/dvd drive.

This is Ober again, I'm on my 'I don't remember my password because I'm on my laptop' account.

Anyway, if you get the game after I do, would you put my referral number?
I don't have it yet because I don't have the game.

Jesus, why does EVERY game I want require a damn Nvidia card? That's the only thing I need to upgrade on my laptop to play PC games, and I don't have the money for it.

Be grateful you don't have a ******** Intel GMA950 soldered onto your motherboard like I do. My computer is well within the minimum specs to play Portal, but the Orange Box can't cope with Intel brand cards.

Eeep.
Can't upgrade laptops.
The videocards are integrated into the motherboard.
: /

Anyway, I got the game now, just waiting for the download to finish.
I got the money and got sick of waiting.
30 more minutes until the download finishes. I have a feeling there's going to be a big patch that will take 15minutes.
Argh!

Armas, if you start here's my referral code;
WC9FPP

Apparently if you enter it we'll both be eligible for in-game bonuses
