Limp was his whole body as the young Duke peered effortlessly out at the nearby shrubbery, it wasn't in his nature to be bounding and leaping about the plains as if he were just any old cub. No, Zhi Qi knew his place rather well for a young cub of regal blood, and he dared not show any sign of a lesser rank. Sparing no edge of the rock he laid on his black pelt made his body light up with heat on top of the hot bolder. It was flat enough to allow him an equal basking to all areas of his small frame, but even an adult lion could stand only so much heat. A solemn twist to his cheek he bordered on the thought of retreating to the nearby shade, but in that, he debated would leave his 'spot' open to anyone who was passing by. Silver eyes rolled and he let out a large sigh and rolled to his side, allowing his white underfur to appear and gain some radiation itself. He didn't want to lose where he'd claimed his own to someone else.

"This day could not get any more boring,"

The young duke proclaimed in a fit of annoyance that was almost thick enough to cut through. Zhi Qi didn't kid himself any, out of his mother's youngest litter she had more multiple strong cubs and he had just not been one of them. While he insisted in his own mind that he was mentally more talented than a few, he knew better than to mingle with anything that could push him around. Grant it, nobody other than his siblings and possibly his parents would dare tussle with him but he didn't need the chance arising. Let him be the one to give his royal blood a bad name, a weaker name, he could think of nothing more disgraceful than a weak lion. Giving another little huff and low growl the cub again rolled this time placing both paws over his muzzle, definitely not in the best of moods.

It was an unusually quiet day today. In Yin's very abbreviated experience, given her young age, she had already come to recognize that such sign could either a good omen or a bad one as far as the status of their pride and the North House specifically was concerned. The adults tended to disappear into council when there was rumor of raid or other unsettling whispers, but given that there weren't guards breathing down the young duchess' neck she assumed all was well. Being as young as she was her attention and concern easily strayed anyway, always to more pressing matters. Like seeing how far she could escape into the territory of the other Houses before that rock-headed weasel went tattling to her father.

Today though, today was quite special. Yin Xián had spotted a small, long tailed mouse within one of the cave chambers and upon attempting to catch it had discovered that it could jump remarkable distances! A mouse that jumped? It puzzled her to no end and as such she had decided to follow it back to its origins for the sake of sating her curiosity. After all, this was no ordinary mouse! Maybe following it would lead her to some secret place of wonders like the stories the nannies told at nap time.

It was long this journey that she spotted her brother lounging comfortably and greedily hording one of the best sunning rocks near their family's den. Her brow arched as he covered his muzzle with his paws, he looked distressed. Yin cringed, gazing at the mouse that was steadily gaining distance. If she stopped to find out what his trouble was she might lose her mouse and the untold mysteries it might have lead her to! But she couldn't just leave her sibling if he was upset, her shoulders sinking with defeat as she turned and trotted over to the rock where Zhi lay, lifting dainty black paws to rest on the stone at either side of his head. IBIIIEEEL!

She shouted at him, lashing her tail with a wry grin as if expecting him to jump in surprise at her sudden greeting. Ibieeel, wake up! Whatcha dooooing?

Instead of jumping at the loud noise, the poor cub rolled...straight off his platform and onto the ground with a rather soft thud. Perhaps he would've been better to have jumped, at least then he would've had a shot at landing on his paws and not his side. With a small huff his dull eyes managed to lock onto who had disturbed him, his sister. Zhi moved off the dirty ground as elegantly as possible and began to clean himself. Shaking the dusty dirt from his tail.

"No better way to wake me huh?

The cub scoffed, a little miffed that his sister had woken him, but then again someone would've eventually. He quickly decided to change his tone, since she looked perplexed at something or other. Kindly he added in quick as to make the situation seem less hostile,

"It's a pleasure of course. At least it was you and not mom or dad waking me up this time of day. What has the day brought for you? Mine's been less than interesting."

Hopping up on the now abandoned platform Chenai giggled as her brother rolled off onto the ground in a very sloth-like manner. Everything about Ibiel seemed without rush, craning her neck to peer down at her fallen sibling. She wasn't concerned for him being hurt. It wasn't a high perch in the least so the drop was minimal, though she did lean in to lick his nose in playful greetings and half-hearted apology. Grinning as their eyes met, her silvery gray stare like looking into a mirror as they were met with the exact same hue. 'Course not! It's no fun to wake you up normal!

Not the least bit upset by his scoffing tone, rather his sister only grinned wider and giggled mischievously. Reaching out with tiny paw pads to stamp dusty prints on his pristine ebony coat so that he would have to shake himself off a second time. Purring happily as she finally hopped down from the sunning rock, prancing in the direction of her current distraction. I'm following a jumping mouse! I think it will lead me to treasure! You wanna come see?

Her tail flicked with excitement, gaze occasionally drifting to the rodent she was trying not to lose to the distance. If he didn't answer soon she would have to go without him! Now that she had made sure her brother wasn't troubled by anything, of course. Family before adventure and all that jazz naturally. Adding urgently. We have to hurry though! It's getting away!!
