It had been a few days since Koin had talked to anyone besides his master, preferring to shy away from the lions and other creatures that filled this pride. Koin still found it odd that he was the only dog, but then, he supposed he was the only dog foolish enough to wander into lands without checking first.

The dog stretched, pink tounge curling in his mouth for a for a moment. Today, Koin woke up with a re-newed vigor. He had to go find his master, to see if he had any tasks today, or if they would go hunting.

Redd eyes glittered in curiostiy, searching for the dark, but scarred, male that he had so associated with Nyota. Determining a direction he firgured his master would be it, he started walking. His master was unpredictable in where he would be, after all.

((OMG your little WD sprite is so cute! ;-; ))

Having a busy mistress, Rasi’s only order to bring home an evening snack could wait a few more hours, so in the mean time the scarred male took to sunning himself on a large rock. His fur was starting to improve little by little as he was taking better care of himself. For the first time he was starting to make the better of his situation.

After a month or two, he supposed, the hellish nature of the pride simply became tedious. He suffered abuses both physical and verbal. Most of all, he suffered boredom. Where he once rebelled and pleaded mercy he now accepted Paiya’s torment with grim indifference and played along with her games. When she wasn’t making life unbearable at least she made it mildly entertaining.

He lifted his head sluggishly, hearing someone come near. It was a dog. Rasi furrowed his brow. “Where are you going?” he muttered grumpily.

((Thank you ^^))
The dog's keen ears picked up the mutter, though he didn't quite understand the words. His head swiveled towards a lion - a light-colored lion. The white dog furrowed his brow, he was only half light, and he'd seen demons with lighter pelts.

He hesitated, maybe he was one of the demons, and maybe he wasn't even talking to him. Koin paused in his steps and gave a small stare in the lion's direction - well, the lion was certainly looking in his general direction...

Rasi’s ears turned back in annoyance. From the moment he saw the dog, he had it in his head that dog slaves must be beneath lion slaves. There were a few wild dogs in his own pride, all captured slaves. Rasi even owned one before his brother threw him out. “Yes, you,” Rasi growled, rising slightly. “You’re a slave I see. Who’s your master?”

The dog wrinkled his nose, he hated lions sometimes - always thinking they were better then everyone else. "Of course," he gave a nod - why else would be within the lands if he wasn't a slave. Slaves seemed to be captured at the gates, so to speak. "My master... Nyota'Angavu," It wasn't his master's demon name, for he didn't know his demon name.

In fact, he didn't even know what demon his master possessed, all he knew was that his master was his master after all. "Is there something you needed?" Koin asked, forcing himself to be polite.

After all, Koin was small - the size of a small female dog at best. It annoyed him greatly, though. He knew he could be feminine...

((Eeee, thank you! <3))
Rasi’s eyes glistened and buldged. When was the last time anyone asked if he wanted something? Oh, those words sounded delicious to his ears, like the dying bleet of a wildebeest calf. He wished he could hear them twice! A crooked grin struggled to the surface. He turned away from Koin as he rose, stifling his sniggers. “Mmmhmmm, there is something…” he purred.

He only needed to think for a moment to see his heart’s desire. He looked Koin in the eyes. There was a slight madness in his eyes, an uncomfortable stare. “I want you to hunt for me.”

Rasi was no good at hunting. He was getting better, but if it were up to him he would never choose to hunt for anyone.

The small (now admittedly feminine) dog, shifted under the gaze of the olive and brown colored lion. He rather shivered a bit at the sniggers, his insticted nearly telling him to run, but he was frozen at the spot. But suddenly, dog paused, confused.

"Hunt?" He asked. He could do that, taking down a small calf by himself, or a small, stupid hare. Sure, he could take down a bird the easiest, but he figured he was the only one that savored the, albiet small, portions of meat an avian could provide.

But really, a hunt? But... He couldn't really deny the lion a hunt - he would be mauled. "A-alright," Koin took a small step back.

He didn’t really expect the dog to refuse. If he had Rasi would have beat him. Dogs are stupid, obedient creatures. He probably could have asked for more, but all he wanted was to have the day’s hunting done so he could lounge around until Nil returned to her den. In fact, he might still beat him for sport after the hunt. He had so much pent up anger itching to be spent.

“I want a calf. A good sized one. Yes, nice and fat. Do you understand?”

He hopped down from his rock and towered over the small dog. “I’ll be going with you, to make sure you don’t screw up or try to steal my food.”

Nil’s food. Rasi mentally scolded himself for that slip of the tongue. He didn’t bother correcting himself. There was no point.

Koin gave a small sigh and resisted the urge to hang his head in shame. He was supposed to go to his master, but he was stuck hunting for this demon. "I understand," Koin ground out and turned his head to the horizon, scanning for a herd or something.

Calves were easy enough, at least. He just didn't feel like getting kicked soon after he woke up. He mumbled something under his breath, annoyed with the delay that would be caused by his hunt - he just hoped his master would not get annoyed as well.

He started forward when his eyes locked in on a herd not too far off, he just hoped they had birthed fawns not too long ago.

Rasi followed along at a distance. He kept low in the grass, avoiding the gaze of the herd. Even at this distance Koin’s white fur was easy to spot – at least it was to Rasi. As he waited he started to get anxious. The slightest mistake would expose Koin instantly. What if this dog didn’t know what he was doing?

Even if this is all for nothing, at least I’ll have good reason to beat the s**t out of that dog, he thought to himself. He never counted dogs as equals. They were all basically scavengers as far as he was concerned.

Koin crouched low, looking at a particular calf - he already had picked out his target as soon as he had gotten close enough. He was almost cat-like in grace, though he was a canine. He knew he couldn't hunt as well as a lion, which was why dog packs were large in number.

He was rather lucky he was down wind.

Red eyes narrowed at the calf, muscles tensed. And then he rushed the calf, avoiding flying legs, snarling and snapping at the adults so they would scatter. And scatter they did - he resumed his chase of the calf, splitting it from the herd.

He kept running, even though his muscles were already getting tired from lack of stretching in the morning - his body was still tired after all.

Rasi rose from his crouch to watch the herd scatter. He was surprised to see Koin break up the family before perusing the calf. So that’s how it’s done. He would have to remember it.

When Rasi focused back on Koin the dog looked to be falling behind. Rasi bared his teeth. No, damnit! He couldn’t let the calf get away! Rasi broke from his hiding place with a terrible snarl and rushed in from the side in hopes of grabbing the calf before it got away from Koin. He had a lot of distance to cover, but he was so furious at the thought of losing Nil’s meal he hardly noticed.

Koin pushed himself forward, pushing his energy to the near ends of it's limits. Damn, he was out of shape! With a quick glance, he saw the olive lion dash in the direction of the calf.

An idea sprung to his mind, and he put on a burst of spead, rounding the calf to direct it towards the currently nameless lion. His muscles burned with pain and ill use, but he remained with his current speed, turning with the calf to herd it towards the lion.

And, luckily, the calf swerved into the direction of the lion.

Muscles burned without feeling. Numbly, Rasi leapt through the air, slamming into the calf as it served and bleated a final, terrified cry. He plowed the baby into the ground. Only now, with the spine’s snapping, did his limbs start to feel the ache. He lay on top of the calf, panting with enthusiasm.

Well damn, that wasn’t so hard! He could have done that by himself. In fact he had done it by himself, hadn’t he? Without him that idiot dog would have run out of breath long before the calf and left Rasi with nothing to bring back to his mistress. Why, at best, the only dog helped him. No, in truth, Koin assisted him. If he was being honest with himself, Koin only participated in the hunt. The lion did all the real work. Yes, that’s the way it happened.

Rasi let the calf’s limp body drop at his feet and stretched his muscles, grinning mirthfully as he smoothed out the kinks in his joints. “Well now. That’s how it’s done,” he said, feeling proud of himself.

Koin huffed in annoyance, though it was hidden by his heavy panting. He closed his eyes, tongue lolling out of his mouth. Muscles burning as they relaxed - it hurt.

He refused to whine though - he had to find his master since he was already delayed by this silly hunt. The lion hadn't even really helped, only killing the poor thing, but he knew the lion thought he did more.

Because lions were arrogant! "Now if you'll excuse me," the dog attempted to take a step, but winced - he probably pulled a muscle with that sporratic run.
