Story

Lucille loves heading up the traveling Grand Orchestra, roving from town to town entertaining the masses and making money. But now the musicians have met their toughest audience: people infected with the Guignol Virus, turning them into zombie dolls intent on killing all humans!

Creator

Kaori Yuki was born in Tokyo, Japan, and started drawing at a very early age.

Following her debut work Natsufuku no Erie (Erie in Summer Uniform) in the Japanese magazine Bessatsu Hana to Yume (1987), she wrote a compelling series of short stories: Zankoku na Douwatachi (Cruel Fairytales), Neji (Screw), and Sareki Ôkoku (Gravel Kingdom).

As proven by her best-selling series Angel Sanctuary and The Cain Saga, her celebrated body of work has etched an indelible mark in the gothic comics genre. She likes mysteries and British films, and is a fan of the movie Dead Poets Society and the show Twin Peaks.

Volume 1
Lucille and his orchestra encounter a town overrun with the worst kind of audience: the Living Dead! Well, not really. They’re people who have been turned into doll-like zombies. And they are definitely not a crowd to take lightly. Can a group of roving musicians use their skills to calm the beasts? Or is this curtains for the Royal Orchestra?!


Volume 2
Now that Lucille and the musicians know what they are up against (the zombie-esque Guignols!), they have to figure out how to stop them! Kaori Yuki's new epic adventure offers up not one but two new storylines to savor with "The Queen and the Jester" and the title story, "Tragédie Lyrique." Is the orchestra any closer to stopping the Guignol infestation?


Volume 3
Ma Cherie Lucille and company visit the residence of Duke Rhodonite--a member of the opposition to the queen--in search of information about the new type of Guignols they discovered at the Vienne Abbey. When the Duke holds a party to announce his betrothal, Lucille is captured through a nefarious plot!


Volume 4
The Grand Orchestra is wanted for the murder of Duke Rhodonite, and being on the run is causing the group to fracture. Can Lucille keep his band together, or will the rogues take this opportunity to go their own way? And if the Grand Orchestra dissolves, who is left to face Le Sénat?


Volume 5
Everything is finally in place for Lucille to face down the horrifying Queen Gemsilica. But unbeknownst to him, Eles switched the powerful Black Oratorio for Lucille's own blank hymnal. How can Lucille keep the queen from destroying the world with nothing but his voice to back him?
