Harb frowned flicking his ears back as he stared pensively out into the afternoon sun. There was something bugging the young male. Wrinkling his nose, Harb got up to pace the area before the den that was his home.
When pacing brought him no answers, he deabted on going to Vu. His father always had answers, but the question that bugged him was one that he wasn't sure if he could ask the big male. That left...mom!
Perking his ears, the little male turned to try and locate his mother sure that the dark female would have all the answers that he needed. If not, well maybe she knew someone who would!

The children were growing up slowly for Mollie, which, in her opinion, was a good thing. The first time mother wanted to see how they grew up with gentle love and caring like she was giving them. Naturally, though, she was awkward around them, not knowing what to say or what to do. But she did let them know she was trying. She hoped that came across loud and clear to them. Green eyes glanced around inside the den, smiling at the obvious signs of life.
Right now, she was alone in the den, everyone off doing something else; it was odd, to say the least. A shuffling of paws caught her attention and she looked back to the mouth, head tilting to the side. So it was the boy, the only precious son to their litter.
"Harb?" She questioned, her voice thick and full of concern. He looked like he had questions, or something on his mind. Moving into the light, the black lioness stretched out in the sun as she waited for her son to catch up to her. Dragging him close, she started something of a bath, licking his mane, cheeks, neck and face. "What's wrong?"

Harb purred happily as he leaned into the grooming, nothing in the little boy's world that was so awful that a grooming by his mother couldn't lift his spirits. He tilted his head about to give her better access to his neck and shoulders.
"Nothing is really wrong momma, I just have something I have been thinking about. Momma how can I be a good Pad? How can I take care of you and the girls and any banu that I might have. I have to protect you all I love you."
Her green eyes looked back up at her from her son's face, filled with concern in love. "I can't let anything happen to any of you. And I know daddy will take care of you, but he can't be everywhere at once. " He looked down ashamed that he was showing his insecurities and weakness.

How can he be a good Pad? Oh, that was an interesting question for him to be having at his age. Tilting her head to the side, she smiled at him as she started grooming down his back, answering his purr with her deep, rumbling one. "How to be a good Pad?" She pondered on that a moment, tail swishing from side to side.
".....Every Pad is different, Harb, love. Really. Some are harsh, some are kind. You pick he kind of Pad you want to be, I suppose. But, with me and your father, and your heart, guiding you, I think you'll be a very good Pad and any Banu or Beybanu you get will be happy." Was that right? She didn't know if that was a good thing to say, but Mollie thought it fit for the time. Stretching out in front of him, she gathered him up between her front two paws and started nuzzling his mane.
"What else can I do for you?" She whispered, eyes slipping closed.

Harb frowned faintly, that wasn't an answer, not really. "But momma that doesn't really tell me anything! "Maybe he should have asked his father after all. "I don't know what is means to be a good Pad. Does it mean letting them always have their way? Does it mean being strict and cold?"
He sighed laying his little head on her muzzle, " My dreams scare me momma. I see good things sometimes and then I see bad things. I see Zar being hurt, I see her and Asfar fighting with each other. I see you and daddy with more cubs and another lioness who loves us too." He looked down at his feet as the true root of his problem became obvious.
How could he prevent the bad things he saw? "I can't let them be hurt momma and I know that I can't interfere with their pads...but I won't let them hurt my sisters."

So he was worried about all of this. Why did cubs have to worry at such a young? She didn't worry that much, did she? Then again, she was dark and brooding when she was his age. Huffing a bit, she blew a raspberry on his nose and grinned. Finally, Mollie knew how to cheer him up.
"You give them freedom, but you also have to be strict. Don't be mean or cruel like some of the Pads. Banu are there to help their pad and help the pride keep up the numbers. Remember, Banu and Beybanu are valuable for more than just making babies. They're friends. Treat the with respect, and they should respect you back. If you have an issue with a Banu, talk to her. Do not randomly scold her. Don't keep it bottled up. Just talk it out."

Harb relaxed with each word out of his mother's mouth till he was laying across her feet limply. She really did know how to make everything better. Rolling over onto his back to show his belly, Harb pawed at her whiskers and nose gently.
"You are so smart momma." Gazing at her adoringly he decided to let her in on his favorite secret. "There is a girl, I haven't meet her yet, but I see her in my dreams. We play and talk and she is my friend."
"I don't know where she is, but I am gonna go find her someday so we can be friends and play all the time for real! We will be like you and daddy, best friends." He purred happily gazing up at her adoringly.

Smart? Perhaps she was. She had a lot of time to observe and log information away. Mollie was doing that every day. Now she was curious as to which of her babies took after her. Surly not Afsar. She seemed more like a boy than a girl at times.
A brow arched as he spoke of a female he didn't know appearing in his dreams. So he was having premonitions? Was he a Seer? "Is this the future you see in your dreams, my little Pad? Do you see things often in your dreams and have they ever come true?" She was more interested in his ability than the female. He was to young for it to hold any significant meaning, so she chose to ignore it.

He hesitated before nodding slowly, "Da said I am a seer, and that my dreams are true...but I don't want them to be momma. I don't want to see Zar be hurt like that. I don't want Zar and Asfar to always be mean to each other. I do like the happy ones like of her, and seeing you and daddy happy with more cubs..." He looked down at his toes than up at her, fear in his green eyes.
"Dad said he wouldn't let Zar go to a bad pad, but momma I saw such bad things. It scared me." It had been a few days prior when he had bolted out of the den, awaken from his nap by his dreams, to the safety of his father. "That is why I have to know how to be a good Pad, so I can protect them. I know I am not suppose to interfere with their pads, but I won't let my sister be hurt." He gave her a stubborn look as if daring her to tell him not to protect his sisters.

So he wanted to be like his father and protect those he cared about. That brought the brightest smile to Mollie's face as she drew her son close and nuzzled against him with a purr. He was going to be a fine pad, in her opinion. "You needn't worry about being a good pad or not. I can tell you will be just by wanting to protect females. I'm so happy you're willing to go so far for your sisters and me," she licked his mane a couple of times before shifting so he was pressed under her chin, his ear against her throat in a hug.
A seer in the family was a blessing, but it could be taken as a curse by the Seer. "As for your visions, remember you can change the future. You just can't change the past.."

Harb began to purr again as he snuggled against his mother's warmth. She really was the smartest and bestest female in the whole world. "I want to protect everyone I love, you are all part of me." He nuzzled the underside of her jaw with a content sigh. His emerald eyes brightened when she told him that he could change the things he saw.
"I understand momma. I will try my best to be strong and change the bad I see into good. I will protect those that need me and never, ever let anger lead me." He gazed up at her adoringly, not even understanding yet the man size oath he had just taken or how few males saw such things in that way. To him, it was the way things were suppose to be. The strong protected the weak, good was good and to be fought for; bad was bad and to be fought against.

With a satisfied smile, Mollie nodded her head several times before drawing her son closer still. She sensed it was getting close to someone's nap time. Without much warning, she picked him up by the scruff of her neck, making sure not to hurt him, and carried him further into the den, to the sleeping area and sat him down. "Let's take a nap before your sisters get back," she whispered, curling around her lighter son. Naturally, she would bathe him to attempt to soothe him off to sleep.

Harb smiled up at his mother as he licked her chin, settling into the warm curve of her body. Resting his head against her side the young boy let the soothing beat of her heart lull him to sleep. Everything would be alright now, momma and daddy knew his dream, they would watch out and teach Zar how to be good. Daddy wouldn't let anyone hurt them.
Ad he drifted off, he hoped he would dream of his new friend. She made him laugh and was so friendly. Of all the girls he had ever met, she made him feel special. Like mommy was special in his heart, so was his new dream friend.
