Artemis had become rather mope-y when the time had passed for their children to move on with their own lives and no longer needing her to dote over them. Certainly, they were still AROUND, but there was something saddening about her young ones being off and on their own devices now. No longer needing their mother (or father) to teach them out to hunt, but…
… But.. she wasn’t sure. They were her little ones, yet the idea.. the possibility of having another litter was both tempting and not; it was up to the moon to decide how they would be looked upon, so leaving that little thing up to fate would have been….. she wasn’t sure it was worth it.
Besides, their little four blessings were fine as they were, right?
It was an internal dilemma that Namir was not enjoying watching upon his arrival back to the den, the indigo lioness he called his ‘mate’ moping about in her own sort of..funk as he walked to her side and sat with her, nudging her back with his nose. Nnnngh. “Are you alright?” he asked, causing the lioness he adored so to look over her shoulder at him and offer a weak smile.
OHAI.
“Just thinking..” she offered back, rolling over onto her back and stretching out her front legs to ‘reach’ for her mate, who stepped over her to return the ‘hugging’ gesture, leaning down to lick her nose. “Well, you’ve certainly been doing a lot of that thinking as of late..” he said in return, chuckling lightly. Artemis’s ears flattened back against her head at the nothing.
Had she now? Was it that obvious to him? Perhaps it was. He had become quite more observant to her moods once she’d sprung the ‘OH, BTW, I R PREGGOR’ bit onto him, so it would have been better off for him to..ohhh… notice when she was being moody since.
Which was both a delight and not-so-much of one. But what could she do when she loved him?
“Don’t worry about the kids. They still love you even if they’re off growing into this silly little fit of ‘hormones’ and being interested in other young members of the pride.. it’s good for them to be away and develop you know.” Namir said soothingly, not suspecting there to be anything further on her mind. For that, Artemis was grateful. She’d hate to sound petty to him by saying she didn’t want her children, if they had more, to be slaves….
But didn’t all parents want the best for their little ones? She’d never met one who didn’t.
Though she wasn’t sure how Namir would have taken the suggestion of ‘more’ to be. Nnnngh. Maybe he was happy with just four. She was happy with her four, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t help the desire to just…
The little cute faces… fajdslajsdf;lsadjads;f. She missed them… and also….
“Namir… did you ever wish you’d had more sons than just our one?” she asked, causing Namir to pause in the middle of whatever thought it was he’d had. Hmmmm. More than one boy? Ha, he would have loved six or more. “Well, I certainly wouldn’t mind if I had a few more boys.. why?”
Artemis sighed and just gave him this LOOK before Namir’s ears drooped a bit. Oh.. OH. OH HELL, WHY HADN’T HE PICKED THAT UP SOONER? Dsjafl;dkfjsdalkfjadslkf. Namir chuckled weakly. AH HA HA. HE KNEW WHAT SHE MEANT.
HE TOTALLY HAD. Umm.. Yes.
Er.. yes?
“If that’s what you want..” he said in return. Artemis sighed weakly and leaned against his side once he settled onto the floor of the den with her. “Maybe…”
As though sensing what was bothering his mate, he nosed her cheek again. “Tomorrow, we’ll go and pray to the Great Lion. Will that help?” Artemis nodded in answer. That.. would work for her. Yes, that would work just fine, she figured, resting her head on his leg. Namir rested his head next to hers and nodded a bit. “Then tomorrow.”
“Yes. Tomorrow.”
