Hmmm, difficult. I'd say mostly the lyrics for me, but the singer's gotta be good so the lyric's are more powerful, so does the music.

Pein999 ok the most important for a song is to be good and to be about the first 3ranks on the best charts!!!!!That means a good song. (insert facepalm here) Being in the charts doesn't mean the music is good. The music has to be good to be good. It has to be powerful and meaningful. Its about the music not the freaking charts.

The music ought to be speciall in some sort of way... The music has to tell a story, It'll have to grow, shrink and be interesting to listen to. The singer must do the song to heis/hers. The lyrics doesn't matter to me, but it is of course funnyer if it's a good lyrics. The beat doesn't matter to me. The song gets better if it's a diffucult song, with for exampel a lot of syncopation in it.

A good song has to have good, mostly meaningful or at leas well rhymed lyrics, if it's both meaningful and well rhymed lyrics that's about as good as it gets. Next the music needs to have a nice melody that fits the lyrics, otherwise it sounds like you're just talking and there's music in the background. Lastly, a friend of mine used to say that a good song needs to have a catchy and easy to remember chorus. that's what makes a good song.
Though some people like crappy top of the charts ... and chaotic meaningless ...

For me, it's a combination of everything. Most of all, it's usually a song I can relate to, or that I can relate it to something I'm familiar with. Of course, the tone and rhythm of the song matter, too. Sometimes I'll like a song simply for the tone - and I could have no idea what the lyrics are talking about. So yeah, it's not one single thing that I think makes a song good.

The lyrics and the rhythm, for me. ^^ The lyrics are really important for me because I don't really like songs about raep, drugs, ect.. >___> And I love music that I could sing along to out loud. (:

The lyrics have to be awesome. The meaning differs depending on the person. Then the lyrics and the melody have to work together well, like a beautiful design on a dress. Then after that, a good, if not great singer or band is needed.
It all depends on someone's music taste really. Too one person I could rite great lyrics while to another, my lyrics are s**t.
