The world was such a vast, infinite place, that no matter how many times she found herself wandering about, Dilara always seemed to find new things. Perhaps a fallen tree, which was perfect for climbing and horsing around in, or a vine from which she could hang by by her small but pointy teeth. She prowled around often to save her from the boredom that lurked around the den she shared with her siblings and parents and today was no different. It was very rare when she found herself almost completely alone, but she was sure someone was somewhere nearby keeping an eye on her. It was just how things worked no matter how hard she tried to sneak away from her watchful guardians.
Black pigment clashed with the lush green of the grass and the young lioness found herself hot on the trail of a large dead leaf that was carelessly blowing about in the gentle wind. She found it a very important duty to start chasing things now so that she could grow up a big strong hunter like her mother. But, more importantly, it was one of the more fun games she liked to play when no one was around her. There was a satisfying crunch as the chase finally drew to an end and she threw her little paws on top of the play-thing. Drawing out her miniature claws she promptly tore gashes into the poor thing until it was but a mess of tattered leaf-material.
A victorious smirk revealed her teeth as she bent down and collected the leaf (her 'prey') in her mouth, promptly realized it tasted something like dirt, and spit it out with a lip curled in disgust. "Stupid leaf," She huffed, comically exposing her tongue to the air in an attempt to get the taste from her mouth. It was still early morning and she was still bored. She probably could've agitated one of her siblings to play but they were such downers sometimes...Plopping down onto her stomach she stretched out, white tail fluff flicking in agitation behind her. It was while she was rolling around boredly on the ground did she spot something new to her.
An old rotten log rested in the shade of the trees a few yards away. Her gray eyes glittered mischeviously as she got up on her paws and cautiously strode towards it. After a moment's assessment it was obvious it was completely abandoned and no nasty snakes or other animals were in the center, which was easily visible. Dilara looked around quickly before disappearing into the rotted out center of the large log. It was the perfect hiding place to scare others from! Poking her head cautiously out of a hole in the side of it she scanned the area for any potential victims. Despite smelling musty, it would do perfectly for a new secret base for her!

There was another black shape in the grass, crouched low - but this one was far better hidden. Ridwan had purpsefully chosen the shade, with the long grass. The darkened colours and stripey shadows of the grass blended well with his own striped coat, and he almost melted into the darkness. Only his bright, attentive pink eyes shone out, watching the young lionness playing mere metres away. Papa always said to hide when catching your prey. Were lionness' prey? They were inferior, like prey. But they weren't edible. The concept had confused Ridwan for a while, but he merely pushed it aside again, eyes carefully tracking the dark lionness as she chased after something.
His eyes narrowed, before widening, expression becoming somewhat bored, lazy even, as he spotted what she was chasing. A leaf? Surely she could find something more challenging to catch than a mere leaf. A hare, a young waterbuck, even an insect would be more worthy of her time than an inanimate object that didn't even taste nice. Ridwan himself had captured his first kill a few days ago - Papa had been so proud, when he brought the hare back to the den, neck snapped in the exact place he'd been shown. Ridwan was always one for perfection. Anything less wouldn't do.
She tasted the tattered remains of the foliage and Ridwan allowed himself a quiet snort, huffing air out of his nose in amusement at her reaction. What else did she think it would taste like? Silly lionness. Clearly they weren't as clever as the lions, as the males. But they males were superior, so that was only to be expected. Lionness' were used to hunt and bear children, and in return they received protection and reassurance. Glancing up again, suddenly aware his mind had been drifting, Ridwan blinked in surprise as he saw her leaving, moving off into the distance. Keeping close to the ground, he pulled himself along, belly brushing the dirt as he stalked her, like he'd been taught to do to his prey.
She found a hollowed out log, and seemed to have taken up residence. Chuckling lightly to himself, he stood, abandoning his hiding place. She was inside the log, she couldn't see him anyway. He approached the log from behind, where she wouldn't be able to see, sitting himself down and tapping gently on it.

Dilara was especially oblivious at times when she'd found something to thoroughly occupy her attention. The feeling of moldy wood didn't sit well with her paws but she still remained, if only for the thrill of the darkness that the log brought on. After a moment she ran her small claws over the nasty interior, scraping away some of the mold-like substance but getting it even further on her paws. Making a face, it wasn't until something started tapping right a foot behind her did she flinch slightly and let out a small yip of surprise.
Focusing her large gray eyes directly on that spot she tilt her head, frowning in curiosity as she approached it slowly...what on earth was making that tapping? Now more curious then cautious, she peered towards the end of the log, quietly walking towards it as to not alert whatever was doing the tapping as to her actions. She poked her head around the side as soon as she was near the entrance, frowning at the small lion who had been making the noise. Huffing mentally, she quickly drew her head back, hoping the other cub hadn't seen her.
She'd never seen him before...but how mean it had been to give her a fright like that! She completely exited the log, but not before looking up at a dead branch protruding from it that would allow her access to the top of it. Using it, she quickly scaled it, trying not to make much noise as she did so. Feeling rather high and mighty she quickly dropped down on her stomach, ears folded to her head as she smirked and crept along the top of the log. As soon as she got to where she thought the other cub had been she leapt forewards, mustering up a rather pathetic roar that could've just classified as a loud mewl.
Meaning to stop right on the egde of it, she hadn't taken the time to calculate where exactly the log stopped and air began and as a result felt her paws slide forewards rather ungraceful right off the egde of the log towards the black cub. She tried to stop herself with her claws but the bark was mossy and not hard anymore so it was a futile effort.
{ SORRY this took so long! I hadn't even noticed you'd replied, stupid me! }

He didn't notice - Ridwan was too busy tapping the log to notice as the dark lionness cub poked her head out, spotting him before withdrawing quickly. What he did hear, however, was the scrabbling and scratching of small claws, his keen ears twitching as pink eyes glanced sideways and up, spotting the dark shape against the serene blue sky. ...What was she doing?
Twisting his body so he wasn't having to tilt his neck in a remarkably uncomfortable manner, he watched her with mild amusement, a small smirk on his face. Was she trying to scare him? His head was slowly tilted further and further backwards, watching as she crawled further and further along the top of the log. Couldn't she...see him? When she leapt forwards with what was honestly a pathetic excuse for a mewl, let alone a roar, retaliating with a fierce snarl of his own, lashing out with a paw to try and get her to move away from him.
But she'd misjudged, and she'd soon landed on top of him, Ridwan snarling as he lashed out more purposefully, attempting to drag his claws across her skin. That'd teach her!
