Guild Notes: Shishigami is openly a martial arts dojo, focusing on martial arts, meditation, and basic warrior training for any of those interested, no matter their status. Usually a retired member serves as the sensei to the school allowing the guild to focus on the jobs that they usually take. A selected group from the dojos are chosen and examined to become gennin and usually either become proctors for the younger children in the dojo or are given maintenance duties on the grounds depending on their age.
While continuing their duties in and around the dojo, those selected are also forced into a seperate training regimen. This can prove to be grueling with a typical training day consisting of martial arts in the morning, meditation in the afternoon, followed by training late into the night. If the chosen students pass the basic training they are allowed to be called gennin
At this point the gennin are given opportunity to participate in the tournament for promotion privilege.
Those who become chunin are then retrained at the school along with the older students completing the martial arts training at the school as well as being trained and or self-improvement as well as completing some missions.
Upon completion of a set number of missions, chunin are said to have completed “basic training” at the school and must demonstrate their abilities to the jounin and the guild master. Upon success, they are promoted to jounin and are are then usually given positions which take them out of the village in order to complete the more difficult tasks the guild receives as well as to allow their students to view the world.
If they survive their deployments and continue to complete missions successfully, jounin are usually called back right before the winter snows set in and they hold an annual meeting to demonstrate to their peers what they have learned as well as to complete the most extreme missions as teams.
In rare occasions, this annual meeting is turned into a secret tournament held at the training grounds between jounin. These tournaments are usually held during rare festivals in the village to mask their true intention, the naming of a successor to the guild. The tournament allows both sides to choose 1 round of their 2 round fight with a challenge in a demonstration of a skill or in combat with the fights either to first blood or to the death.
