What web browser were you using when the ban came down?
If you can submit the browser to a sympathetic admin, you might be able to get the ban overturned. Some browsers, i.e. Firefox, can do things that Gaia doesn't like, even if you don't change the defaults.
Anyway, good luck with getting back to where you once belonged. Hope you set a mule account aside for this rainy day.

All I really lost was the stuff on my avatar and a set of woodland camo clothes. I was using firefox, but I doubt I will get an admin that really cares. I've got the worst luck when disputing a ban or reporting a hacking or anything else like that.
