If you want real rap that took skill to write, listen to the rap from the days of Run DMC.
Back then, rap was nearly all freestyle lyrics about having a good time, or about nonsense. It was a fairly good genre.
In my opinion, rap these days (Note, this is radio rap, the rap you hear all the time) is only written about clubs, sex, violence, gangsters, pimps, guns, etc.
