How To Have Japanese on Your Computer

Getting Japanese on Your Computer/Accessory

For PC Users:
Click on Start or the circle button with the Windows image on it.
Click 'Control Panel'.
Click 'Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options'.
Click 'Add other languages'.
A small popout window will appear.
Click on the 'Languages' tab.
Check off the 'Install Eastern Asian Languages'.
Click 'Apply' or 'Okay'.
After installation, you may have to restart your computer or laptop. Do so directly.

For Mac Users:
Go to "System Preferences"-->"International" --> "input menu" --> click on the Japanese boxes. An American flag will pop up on your toolbar. Click it and choose "hiragana." Then, just type.



For A Person Who Uses an iPod Touch or iPhone:
Touch "Settings" on your menu.
Touch "General".
Scroll down, and touch "Keyboard".
Then touch "International Keyboards".
Have "English" or your default language "on".
Then scroll down and touch Japanese.
Turn on both 'QWERTY' and 'Kana' keyboards.
Whenever you want to type anything in Japanese, click on the small button next to the '123' button. (Shaped like a circle with lines through it)
There should now be a 'QWERTY' keyboard again. Any letter you touch, it will become a Kana or Kanji letter.
(Most of the time, it starts out Kanji, but then turns into Hiragana.)

Hey, Black! Are you using a PC (Windows) or a Mac (or any other computer from Apple)?

For the PC, it can be kind of confusing. That I know.

I just tried to install the (Japanese on my computer) and it said I needed to have a floppy disc or cd-rom disc so that really sucked.

Are you using a Mac or PC?

I don't know why you would need a floppy or CD.

Black, it is funny that you say you couldnt type kanji or hiragana with ur comp. Were you using translator to teach ur students all this time?

I'm thinking it's installed now because when I open Word it have options to insert pre-installed greetings.
But I can't get it to type in Japanese
