((Feel free to jump in with someone. . . I don't do well at massive-group RPs so this is kind of first-come-first-serve. I'll make it private after someone or two replies. . . ))

The little cub needed an escape. It wasn't easy growing up in a family with eleven siblings, all the same age. Mind, he cared for his brothers and sisters like a good little cub, and he loved Ukoo and the other banu dearly but sometimes it was a bit much to handle. He could only handle so many games, so many spars, and so much noise before he became surly and irritable.

Instead of allowing his annoyance to get him in trouble, of course, like a smart little cub he had decided to remove himself from their presence. The good thing about living with ten other siblings, when one went missing it wasn't necessarily noticed right away. Mind, there were also other banu's to worry about, but Rahim wasn't too concerned.

He was a good cub, a golden boy if he did think so himself as eldest of all eleven, so any punishment he might receive for wandering away form the pad wasn't any cause to worry. Besides, the olive hued cub needed a little down time to think.

Trotting through the tall savanna grasses, the small thing had no destination in mind. Scents of other lions and banu's tickled the air, as well as stranger cubs he'd yet to meet. Rahim wasn't the most outgoing of sorts, preferring to be clean and tidy and generally kept to himself while the cogs of his mind worked. . . . but so what. As a little cub he had a lot to think about. . . a lot to take in, digest, learn.

Daydreaming and allowing his thoughts to wander, Rahim paid little heed to others around him or where he traveled. All he knew was the great pleasure he felt by escaping most of his siblings. . . . Time away from them was well worth it.

Considering he's avoiding his family, I figured you wouldn't mind me tossing Suha in instead heart Don't mind if I snag?

The sunrise was so very pretty this morning. Suha sat by the den she shared with her vast and extensive family, watching the way the sky grew brighter and brighter, the warm gold line on the horizon rising into the darker blues leftover from last night. It was a sky just right for the start of a fairy tale, and the little Banu actually caught herself muttering "...once upon a time..." under her breath. Today seemed like it was going to be such a nice day... surely there would be no harm in going for a tiny bit of a walk. She wouldn't go too far. She’d be careful.

Picking a random direction, she bounded off, occasionally slowing to walk with the grace and dignity she often saw the adult Banu displaying. She was the sultan’s daughter after all, she had to be good. She didn’t want her daddy to be disappointed in her for something as easy to do as that. She’d be good. And she’d be careful, she’d only go for a little walk. See what there was to see, maybe make a new friend or find a new story. Something fun and exciting!

Batting playfully at the tall grass, Suha bounced along, occasionally pausing to watch a tiny butterfly or to pick shapes out of the clouds. Stories stories stories. She wished her daddy had time to tell her more…but he was always so busy. It was selfish to wish he would spend more of his time with her, she knew he had to take care of the whole pride, not just her brothers and sisters and mommies…

Suha stopped short, cocking her head to the side as she caught a glimpse of olive colored fur. It was a very familiar, at least from this distance, and without waiting to confirm she bounded gleefully towards the other cub.

“Anwar!” she called gleefully, before frowning slightly as she drew closer, ducking her head in mild embarrassment as she realized her mistake. It wasn’t the boy that had been so very curious about her story, it was a different cub. “S-sorry…I thought you were someone else,” she apologized shyly.

User ImageMirage had run to explore the pride lands and maybe make some new friends. At least he was going to try anyway. Despite his best efforts he seems to be a bit hyper and he was beginning to think it was a bit taxing on his mother. Mirage smiled, lucky for him he had two of them. It was so nice to have to mother's to love him, three really, fore his other mother was still out in the rogue lands.

He bound forward chasing his shadow and trying to pounce on it. He was unsuccessful but it was great fun, so he kept it up. He crouched down low wiggling his behind and then jumping forward only for his shadow to jump too.

Mirage laughed lightly and looked around. It was a nice and it seemed just over in the distance their were some cubs. Mirage squinted to see if he could recognize them and to his luck he did. 'It was Suha, the sultan's daughter.' He remembered her from the story the sultan told.

Mirage grinned and ran toward the pair. "Suha", he called, "Hey Suha!"

"Anwar!"

Pale ears rotated, focusing on a particularly girlish voice that erupted seemingly out of nowhere. His head quickly followed, peering inquisitively from the tall grasses before his gaze narrowed ever so slightly. He wasn't glaring at Suha, of course, but he quickly looked past her and around him.

Surely his brother hadn't escaped the watchful eyes of the banu too! Or perhaps he was being trailed? Spinning about for a moment, he saw no sign of his brother. . . but at that point the cream banu before him admitted her err.

She'd mistaken him for Anwar of all of his siblings. Anwar. Oh brother. . . . He didn't look a thing like him, or at least not really; his sibling inherited more of his markings from their father's side. . . Rahim, thankfully, looked more like Ukoo. Still, he smiled lightly at the stranger, giving a little shake of his head.

"You must've met my brother, Anwar'Mazin," he confirmed, not allowing himself to take insult. It made sense that she wouldn't recognize him or confuse him with one of his siblings; there were a good handful of them, and Rahim wasn't exactly the most adventurous. He loved to study things, sure, but he had his various den-mother's and ten siblings to get to know. . . . Life outside took second at this stage in his life.

Canting his head lightly, he offered a small smirk and added quite proudly, "I'm Rahim. What's your - - - " His polite inquiery was interrupted though by another voice, also unrecognizable. This one was definitely more male and his gaze was pulled from the small banu to another. . .

What on earth was that? It looked like a lion, sort of, but not. . . not entirely. Having never met a hybrid cub before, he understood something was a little off but he couldn't entirely place it. Hmm. Maybe it was just bad genetics. Still, he fell quiet as Mirage interrupted him, sitting down before Suha and staring pointedly at the new comer. Someone hadn't been taught about manners. . . Either that or Rahim was just invisible.

Suha felt a creeping sort of embarrassment in her fur, even though the other male did have the same color fur as Anwar had. And he didn’t seem angry or upset. Just a bit surprised at first, and now he was smiling lightly, as though forgiving her for her foolishness. Which only made her insides squirm. She knew she was just a cub, so she could get away a tiny bit with making mistakes. But she still felt bad about them. And now she’d been rude, addressing a new male without waiting for an introduction or allowing him to speak first. Even if he was a cub like her…

Uncertain now, since she never really did know what to do when confronted by a male her own age, she let her head lower ever so slightly, trying to look submissive, as grown-up Banu did when speaking to a Pad, since she’d already botched on being polite. Suha was about to reply to his introduction with an apology and an introduction of her own, now that she was so close it seemed utterly stupid to have called him Anwar, they may both have that strange greenish fur but his markings were completely different, when another voice interrupted her. This one, at least, was familiar. Another male cub to make her a tiny bit nervous, but at least she knew him a little

Sitting back on her haunches, and raising her head again, she didn’t want to grovel around but she could try being polite. Torn for a moment, since now both boys had started speaking to her and she’d, as yet, not properly spoken to either, she felt a momentary surge of anxiety, before deciding that the olive furred cub had spoken first.

“It...it is a pleasure to meet you, Rahim. My name is Suha,” she said, her voice wobbling slightly to begin but soon falling into the warm rhythm she used so often in her storytelling practices. Inviting, with a touch of playfulness and a tiny hint of ‘just you to hear what happens next…’ She’d practiced it for hours and hours, and it eased the uncertain quiver from her voice and smoothed it like warm honey in the sunlight.

“I apologize for my mistake, now that I see properly it is clear you and he are very different,” she continued, trying to be dignified without being… not a good Banu. Whatever that word was. She’d ask daddy. Daddy knew lots of words. Or maybe she’d ask mommy, or one of her other mothers, since daddy was so very often busy…

And now she could turn her attention to the oddly lion-and-sort-of-not cub that she’d met during one of her daddy’s stories at the lake. She’d remember his sort of leaner body without much trouble at all, and his beautiful fur like the sky at night was quite difficult not to recall.

“Good morning, Mi'rage Mehtab,” she said, still in her heavily practiced storyteller’s voice. She felt it flawed, and very poor, since her father’s deep rich wonderful voice was so much better, but as far as voices went it was really rather nice. And her slowing down to speak with just the right inflection made her sound less like a scampering silly little cub. “It’s nice to see you again.”

And now it was sort of almost like she’d helped to introduce them to each other, even though she wasn’t sure she was supposed to do that. At least she’d said everyone’s names! It was a good start. If they’d been girls she’d have followed promptly with a ‘do you want to play?’ but with the boys she didn’t dare.

((I figure it's safe to continue on our RP. . . x3 ))

Rahim eventually tore his stare away from Mi'rage though, if his nose had wrinkled a bit it hadn't been a coincidence. The poorly-designed lion cub before him wasn't worth much of a second thought, especially with a little pale stranger and banu before him.

It was relieving to meet one that wasn't related to his family. With so many cubs running about, often times Rahim felt a bit overwhelmed; some of his brothers were far too rough and tumble or tried to coerce him in to games of brawn and might. While Rahim could respect that, he much preferred to relax on the sidelines and keep a close eye on his sisters and the going ons of everyone in his family.

He was the eldest born, after all, and Rahim couldn't help but take pride in such a notion. He was the oldest of eleven, which meant he was might special. It was up to him to set an example, to be mature, and of course, to make Ukoo and Tari'q proud. That meant he had to always keep alert and stay on his toes. . . . If he was going to make sure his sisters didn't turn out silly and his brothers stayed strong, he had to be watchful of their every move. Besides, keeping such tabs on his family members gave him a sense of power over them; he could learn to manipulate them should he ever need to. . . . And that was a useful thing indeed. He already knew how to upset some of his sisters, or frustrate his brothers. . . the longer he studied the more he'd know.

Suha, as well as the silly off-lion Mi'rage, would prove interesting to the little cu. They were new personalities to discover, to figure out, and there were all sorts of fun things he could do while learning. For now though, he'd e polite as Suha was rather refreshing a change. . . No stripes on her at all! At least no stripes that were prominent enough to be distracting. . . . Rahim was absolutely surrounded by stripes so base colours, like Suha's cream, were splendid to observe.

Flicking his tail lightly, his expression stayed neutral and polite with only a tease of a grin on the edges of his features. Though he was a little 'off' in his own personality, Rahim understood politeness . . . even when faced with a little banu. "Well it's nice to meet you then, Suha," he acknowledged, not even bothering to look twice at Mi'rage.

He was still irked at being interrupted earlier.

"And hopefully I'll be as memorable as my brother." He teased, though no malice was intended in his words. It was the last he'd bring up of her err, but he couldn't help himself. . . . He was as memorable as his brother. No, wait. . he was more memorable than Anwar. . . At least he assumed he was, at any rate.

Falling quiet, Rahim felt a twinge of awkwardness enter the conversation. He stole at a glance at Mi'rage before looking back at Suha, unsure if he should leave the 'better' acquainted to their own devices. . . or if, perhaps, he should say something?

Honestly he wasn't that much of a chatterer, only when he chose to be, but as Suha wasn't speaking first (she certainly understood her role!) and he didn't want to give Mi'rage the satisfaction of conversing longer than necessary, it was up to Rahim to speak. "So . . uh. . . is your family's Pad near here or were you just out roaming too?"

Suha tried to be quiet and regal and proper and…well, like a good Banu. Like a grown up Banu. She would have loved to play games and trade stories with the other two cubs, but she knew she was supposed to be polite to Pads. It was just…hard to figure out. Since they were only cubs like her and didn’t have a harem yet or anything.

It couldn’t hurt to err on the side of politeness though, she supposed. Even if it was slightly less fun.

Trying to be quiet and poised and…stuff like that, Suha looked the other cub over very carefully, and hopefully discretely. He had stripes sort of like Anwar had, but his weren’t really stripes exactly. It was more like a pattern really. A light pattern with a black stripe running down his back. Anwar had broken looking black stripes. The only real similarity was their olive colored fur, and they were still the only cubs she’d ever seen with muddy green fur. After the distinct silvers, purples, whites, blacks and blues she’d seen all over the place, murky muted color was very interesting indeed.

Still, now she would be sure to never mistake the two again. They hardly looked alike at all, now that she’d looked more carefully Rahim. Mirage was still the only cub she’d seen that looked like nighttime, so she wasn’t overly worried about mistaking him…

“Oh, you’re very different from him,” Suha hastened to agree. Anwar had been so…shy it seemed. Quiet and stammering, but eager to know more about the story he’d overheard her practicing. Rahim seemed to be more… confident. And polite. Not that Anwar had been rude! But… well… there was just… something different about Rahim, not just the pattern on his fur.

She cringed very slightly when he asked where her family’s Pad was. Would she be in trouble for wandering? She didn’t…didn’t think so. She hadn’t gone far, and she was being very careful not to go anywhere near the border or anything.

“No, daddy is- I mean, my father is very busy,” she confessed, though she couldn’t help the little sad twinge that accompanied her words. She wished her daddy had more time to spend with her, but being the sultan was terribly important. She was very proud of her daddy. She just… missed him a little. Sometimes.

But now she wasn’t sure what to say… she knew she wasn’t supposed to speak first, but it would be rather boring if he had to just keep asking questions…

“W-what about you?” Suha finally asked timidly, since she wasn’t sure if she should be asking. Anwar had been so easy to talk to, but that was because he’d been so very interested in the story and kept asking about it. “Is your family around?” It would have been silly to ask if his Pad was nearby, since he was a Pad. But this was a close question…kinda.

Rahim hadn't dealt much with girls outside of his family. Being the eldest of such a large (albeit mixed) litter meant he was accustomed to dealing with his siblings; he knew how to act around each and every one of them, but Suha and Mi'rage . . . well. . . .they were different.

He had to play his cards differently around the pair as he better got to know them. His main focus currently was Suha. . . not only was she a little banu but she was a girl not of his blood and she was a lot more interesting than the silly odd-lion. Besides, Mi'rage had been rude and interrupted him and he wasn't quite prepared to forgive the other yet.

Tail flicking idly around his paws, Rahim couldn't help but grin as Suha admitted her father's whereabouts. "So you're a wanderer like me, eh?" He smiled brightly, genuinely pleased by this news. She seemed nice enough, but it was good that she wasn't so afraid to move without her Pad's approval! It made her interesting and unique from just 'some super loyal' banu. It meant Suha had brains. . . . . and Rahim did indeed like brains.

The olive furred cub wasn't so dense as to miss the twinge of hurt in her voice though, and he made a mental note. Though she roamed some she missed her father. . . or perhaps her father wasn't around much at all? Or. . . or perhaps her father was quite distant, just like Tariq could be! He saw more of his mother's and siblings than he did his striped and ebony coated father. . . . Perhaps Suha was the same?

But now wasn't the time to talk about such things. Though, being a male, he COULD ask and question but he didn't know her and wasn't really that interested yet. Besides, she was asking him a question instead!

"Nah, I left my family back that way," he nodded to the direction he had come, giving a little shrug. "I've eleven siblings to care for, being the oldest and all," he added, quite proud of that fact, "but decided a break would be nice. The other banu's won't miss me. . . not for a little while yet, I hope," he added, dropping his voice as if just sharing some secret for Suha and Suha alone. "It isn't easy getting away from all that noise, so I had to take advantage of it while I could."

Suha shuffled a silver paw anxiously against the ground. She knew that little banu like her weren't supposed to run around all over. But she figured that if she didn't go anywhere near the borders, and didn't try to go swimming or something potentially dangerous like that all by herself, than it would be okay. Right? She wasn't being bad... right? Her father wouldn't be upset if he found out...

When Rahim grinned at her, she felt a relived smile spread across her features. If a pad approved, even a young one like Rahim, than surely it really was all right. Besides, she wasn't alone. She was with two other pads, and she'd met Mirage during one of her daddy's stories. True, she'd hoped he might tell her a story just special for her, but that was being selfish. Her daddy needed to look after all of the entire pride, she couldn't possibly keep him all to herself. It wasn't fair... she just... missed him a little. When he was busy.

Suha leaned in closer when he spoke to her in that secret voice, ears pricked forward. He'd escaped his family, small wonder he'd seemed so upset when she called him Anwar! He must have thought his brother had followed him. Not to mention being mistaken for someone else was doubtless irritating.

"You're the oldest?" she said instead of apologizing again, slightly impressed. She was the youngest of her litter, she thought. Her family was so big, sometimes it seemed things got a little jumbled up. She couldn't remember if her other mommy brothers and sisters had been born first or not... but there were a whole bunch of them and she was definitely not the oldest. She thought her brother might be...maybe?

But being the oldest was surely a huge responsibility, no wonder he had so wanted to get away for a little time to himself.

Mirage was so over exciteable, he completely missed that Rahim was with Suha. When Suha, he smiled brightly. He felt as though he was being stared at and slowly turned to look at the cub, which he simply starred at as well. His fur seemed to match the scenerary well to Mi'rage and he figured that was he missed him at first. That and he wasn't looking. He wasn't sure how to respond to him. His fur seemed to match the scenerary well to Mi'rage and he figured that was he missed him at first. That and he wasn't looking. He was use to be looked at odd, it was nothing knew, but something about the way Rahim was looking at him made him feel extremely uneasy. For this reason he simply nodded to him, but he remained silent.

When the gaze was removed from Mi'rage he shivered slightly. He did not speak up, instead he decided for once he would be quite and simply listen. He sort felt as though Rahim did not really care for him and so he wasn't really sure whether he should join in the conversation.

When they began to talk about family Mi'rage became a little more curious. She really liked Suha's story telling daddy. His papa, had said he was the sultan. He briefly wondered why Suha hadn't told Rahim that, but he felt as thought that was for her to tell.

Suha sounded a bit sad and it made Mi'rage's ears fall a bit. His papa spent as much time as he could with them, but he did after go away a lot. Mi'rage smiled remember that he was back now and he had brought a new mom for him and his sister, but he had to leave again soon.

Mi'rage's ears perked back up when it seemed Rahim had made her happy again. He looked at Rahim smirking and thinking maybe Rahim just needed to warm up to someone a bit. Mi'rage was content to listen until he heard Rahim say he had eleven siblings.

"Eleven," he piped, "Wow thats a lot."

Suha asked about him being the oldest and Mi'rage looked at Rahim nodded, curious as well. He was the youngest of the litter and he only had four sister, only two of which we're with him.

Mi'rage was smiling rather brightly, totally forgetting the awkwardness of the earlier encounter in all his curiosity. Forgetting he'd come over to see in Suha wanted to play and forgetting he had a story to share with her.

It wasn't that Rahim didn't care for Mirage, it was merely that his pride had been offended by the creature earlier. While he had been having a pleasant conversation with Suha, the strange looking lion cub had interrupted and hardly even bothered to give him the time of day. Though Rahim wasn't overly proud, he had enough at this age to be slighted and hold a grudge.

But all would be well enough in due time. Though he cared for the moment, even his initial feelings would pass with time as Rahim just plum didn't care. There was no reason for him to put so much energy as dislike in to Mirage. . . . Not yet, at any rate.

Seeing as the other cub had fallen quiet it pleased Rahim. At least he had manners enough to listen and the fact that both Suha and the strange cub were impressed by him being eldest. . . well. If he sat just a little taller and puffed out his chest even more, it was something that could not be helped. He was proud of his lineage and the title of eldest.

"Yeah, that is a lot. There's always something going on in the den and even the other banu are hard pressed to keep all of them in line. It's nice to get away though," he added with a little shrug, allowing his tail tip to wag a bit. "How many siblings do you two have?" He questioned, finally including Mirage in this conversation.

Part of Rahim didn't really care to know but it was polite enough to ask. He knew how the rules of conversation worked, though it was a shame at such a young age, he was already beginning to feel detached. He really only cared to know about Suha's family, Mirage was merely included out of generosity.

Well, there was definitely some sort of tension going on here, and it was making her a bit uncomfortable. Not that she'd been entirely relaxed before, she really wasn't sure how she was supposed to act with boys her own age. Polite seemed to be working...but it wasn't nearly as much fun.

"Me? I have twelve," Suha admitted when Rahim asked how many brothers and sisters, scuffing a silvery paw in the grass, "I'm not the oldest though, just somewhere in the middle. Aysel's youngest, but I'm older than my half siblings I think...? My older brother's name is Rahim too though," she added, grinning at the happenstance. "Oh, but he doesn't look anything like you," Suha hastened to add. Her brother was mostly pale and silver like she was, only his marking were different. They looked a little more like daddy's, the ones on his back anyway. She got her daddy's paw marks though, not just toes. Though it would have been nice to get some of daddy's purple too...

She felt like she should add something, keep the conversation flowing somehow. But she didn't know what to say... well, Mirage hadn't answered Rahim's question yet. Maybe he would have something to add, something that wouldn't let this dissolve into some awkward silence. Suha didn't think the two of them had met prior, but something was definitely...a bit off...?

Mi'rage was awed by the number of siblings both Rahim and Suha had. His number now seemed so puney, but he knew he should be proud of him small family and he was.

"I have fours sisters," he said happily, "though two of them don't live here. Fayrus and Jinan are the ones that do. Kirei and Eiko live with my cheetah mom in the rogue lands. I'm the youngest of the five of us, but I don't mind."

He wondered for a moment if he had devulged to much information, but it was not like the sultan did not know of the circumstances and seemed to approve for the most part, at least the what he heard his papa say.

He looked between Rahim and Suha wanting to suggest a game, but not really sure that he should. He really did not know much about anyone else in the pride and he figured he should learn a bit. He would have more interaction with them all as they grew.

Rahim was surprised that Suha came from such a large family. He had thought that his family was big but to find a banu that had a larger family than his own . . .well. . . it was rather impressive. Well why shouldn't she have a large family though. . .? With so many banu's running around, it was expected of the older males to have many children. Eleven and twelve were good solid numbers, though Rahim secretly hoped to have double that when he was older.

Had to do his family proud, right? And to have the largest harem in the Ukuucha'wafalme was something many young cubs dreamed of. With the prettiest and most devoted banu, yep . . . That was exactly what was going to happen as soon as he grew of age. He'd make his father proud he would, most certainly!

His ears did p***k lightly as Mi'rage began to speak. Only four. . .? And two of them didn't live in the pride? Well where. . . wait a minute. Did he say cheetah mom!? "Your mom's a cheetah?" He blurted, red eyes lighting with curiosity. Well no wonder the little cub looked funny! He wasn't a pure lion. . . . He was a cross-breed, a eunuch! Well . . . .imagine that! He'd never met one before, much less a cub.

"Huh. . . . So are you raised alone or are there other banu to watch you?" One couldn't tell if Mi'rage's standing rose or fell with Rahim due to this knowledge. He was quite curious about this situation, especially as it was something different. Rahim did indeed like to know things, especially on subjects he was quite unfamiliar with.

Still, he wasn't completely unaware. Despite wanting to be alone, as a cub, his poor little paws were itching to do something more than just sit and talk. As it was, he stood and glanced from the little strange-cub to Suha and back again. "Let's play," he decreed, a new light brightening his gaze. Yes. . . he liked that idea. A game with two new acquaintances might be fun, after all. . . .and it didn't have to be something rough and tumble like his brothers enjoyed playing.

"Wanna race to the lake? I was heading there anyway but . . . you guys can come too if you want!" They could have fun, perhaps, and it would certainly be more fun than just standing out in the burning heat. There were no banu around and even so they were all allowed to go get something to drink. . . . Right? So it wasn't as if any of them would get in trouble for it either!

"Your mom's a sheetah?" Suha asked eagerly, her attention quickly refocusing on the night-pelted cub. "Ah, I mean... chee-tah," she corrected herself hastily, "Zarha said her daddy met a shee- I mean, a cheetah once! She said that- oops... sorry..." Suha cut herself off, embarrassed. That had not been remotely reserved or proper or polite or...just... anything. It was all right to be a little goofy and playful with other Banu, but...but in front of a Pad?

In front of two Pads?

Her daddy might be ashamed of her for acting like such a little fool. But...but Zarha's story had just been...so fastinating. And she'd said the cheetah her dad had met had been like a Kajira. Were all cheetahs like that? She was just dying to hear! Certainly, now that she was really looking, Mi'rage did look a bit skinnier than a regular cub. Hadn't Zarha said sheetahs... said cheetahs were long legged and really fast with funny sticky-up manes...?

She settled herself back down, ducking her head and trying to remember that she was supposed to be a good little Banu, so she'd make her daddy proud. But this attempt, it seemed, was doomed to failure.

"Yes, let's!" she grinned eagerly when Rahim suggested a race, already on her paws and ready to play. She wanted to see if half-cheetahs were really fast, just like regular cheetahs were supposed to be.
