Hello, Welcome to my constructive courses on Japanese Vocabulary. Today's topic will be on colors there is also a site where you can learn the Pronunciation of the words.
Okay, please remember to have a notebook for all of my courses. The note book is optimum for learning in my courses, However a Journal Entry Is Substantial, as long as you have your notes and work somewhere. (You learn better that way, Please try to do the work in the notebook then post your answers in this thread for this lesson!) Website address's should be saved somewhere for further use, these are usually my source! Grades will be based on assignments, not averages, which means if you get a 100% on one thing then fail another, you don't have an average to worry about, just some material to review. You may order your notes in any way you wish. Be on the look out for Extra Credit for gold. Please Alert me when you have posted your work on the thread using the commenting system! HAVE FUN!!!

That's Kanji(漢字). They may have differing pronunciations when used in different contexts. As an example: 雪(ゆき / yuki) - 'Snow' isn't read the same way when used in 吹雪(ふぶき / fu buki) - 'Snow storm/Blizzard'.
あの青い傘は私のです。 a no ao i kasa wa watashi no de su. That blue umbrella is mine.
私の一番好きな化け物は青眼の白竜。 watashi no ichi ban su ki na ba ke mono wa ao gan no shiro ryuu. My favourite monster is blue eyes white dragon.
Both with or without the 'i'(い) seems to be fine? I take it that it's an abbreviation used in different contexts. When to use い and when not to I'm not sure though. Would someone enlighten us?

私の一番好きな色は青いです。 watashi no ichi ban su ki na iro wa ao i de su. Blue is my favourite colour.
一番好きな ichi ban su ki na This part highlighted in green, means your 'favourite'.
色 iro This part highlighted in red, means 'colour'. It can substituted with other words such as 動物(どうぶつ/dou butsu) animal, or 果物 (くだもの/kuda mono) fruit.
青い ao i This part highlighted in blue, is the main subject of your sentence, while the earlier part highlighted in red, is its classification.
Conversely, you can change the statement into questions like these examples.
あなたの一番好きな色は何ですか? a na ta no ichi ban su ki na iro wa nan de su ka? What is your favourite colour?
君の一番好きなテレビタレントは誰? kimi no ichi ban su ki na te re bi ta re n to wa dare? Who is your favourite idol?
Please correct me if I'm wrong in any area, my understanding of the tones used in speech is quite bad.
