So for one unit the grand total price is $7,475. I say one unit because my entire set up with be complete with THREE units! And that does not factor in the about five grand i will spend on the desk and specialized keyboards and software. So the grand total price for this set up will run me like $27,425 and be absolutely amazing. xp

First of all, who the ******** needs FOUR blu-ray drives?

Second, ******** your water cooling. FLOOD IT. Makes the neon work far more efficiently, so you'll need fewer of those, too. Also, no fans. Not even a CPU fan.

I've built pretty awesome computers (test build on newegg) for $1k-2k.


Also, that case is ******** Xbox huge!
But it's plain and doesn't look like it was made from the skin of a ******** demon from Korean MMORPGs.

Make sure it's the 64bit version that you install.

If it isn't a 64bit you've got more RAM then the OS can even see.

$500 for a monitor stand?

DA ********, here's a tip.
Get a TV with DVI/HDMI Out/In and hook that up to your computer.

I got a 32" 1080, max resolution with this card is 1920x1080.
I've got the DVD player, satellite and all that s**t with my computer hooked up to it.

Because it was opened we paid about $300-400 for it.


Also, I recommend looking for those parts at newegg.com
I'll bet their prices are better.

I've dealt with them in past, they're pretty good with shipping and the stuff they send.

All right sweet. I didn't even think about the extra tv monitor.

And yeah, those multiple monitor stands are all hundreds of dollars. I haven't seen even a two monitor stand that isn't a couple hundred dollars.

And for as much burning and ripping as i do 4 drives might not be enough lol. I know i use the three drives i have on this computer at about all times. Just three DVD-Rs and sadly no blurays yet. And i am not gutsy enough yet to submerse my set up.

You can play this best-of-class hardware game every 3 months or whenever Intel or AMD releases a new chipset. You'll always spend way too much for performance you'll get 6 months later.

The multi-monitor array always looks cool for gaming, but what will you do with it for regular computing? Ever try working with a dozen applications open?

It's fun to watch rich people and gamer magazines play this game, then get board and walk away, knowing they can't recoup the cost of the hardware.

Hell, I'd be happy to get one affordable Bluray drive in an external case. Lately I tend to rip movies and export them to external drives for semi-perminant storage rather than convert them and burn them.

And I don't game on computers. That is covered by my game consoles.

The one thing I really want but won't pay for now is a couple of the new solid state hard drives on the market. I'd kill to set up a RAID array and boot my favorite OS at lightning speed.

Intel and Micron are in a pissing war to see who can build the fastest SSD drives, so we mere mortals should see some quality 256 gigabyte boot drives at affordable prices very shortly. That's something worth investing in.

When I worked at the nuke plant, my entire department had dual-monitor setups. It really was necessary so you didn't have to keep switching between two windows constantly.

And Ober is right about building it yourself. I went to some website that had some big long thing about making a custom computer. Just for shits and giggles i started putting in the stuff i used in mine. Price came up ten grand and it didn't even include everything i wanted, build it yourself if you have the capabilities. Its worth it.

Just for shits and giggles i started putting in the stuff i used in mine. Price came up ten grand and it didn't even include everything i wanted, build it yourself if you have the capabilities. Another reason to not buy from Alienware;
They're over priced.


It's really not that hard to build.

Follow the form factor for the board and you'll be fine.
Get the right socket on the processor for the mother board (there are boards and processors that come bundled with each other) and it's relatively easy.
Now that is. Before you had to ******** with jumper, dip switch and dial settings for old stuff like SCSI drives and all that.
Pain in the a**.

But with all this SATA s**t and plug and play easy mode stuff it's very easy.

Boards should come with specs that will or should rather, give you enough information to get things that are compatible.

I'm guessing the biggest thing to do is to get the right amount of thermal paste between the processor and the heat sink.

Most heat sinks I've used are pre-pasted and covered in a sheet of cellophane to keep it from rubbing off.
