I came across This House and I want it!
I must admit, while the Victorian era isn't my favourite period of history, I'm in love with the steampunk style - it lends itself very well to modernisation and it has a real craftsmanship I adore.
Also the idea of getting down and gritty with sci-fi appeals to me. I love the 'mortal engines' book by Phillip Reeves for example, which is a pretty neat example of steampunk with its airships and moving power-churning, black-smoke-blasting cities
So show your appreciation for this somewhat-now-mainstream fandom!

[worryingly i'm thinking at some point to have a steampunk-themed birthday party for my friends back at home. i must ponder how to implement this in our tiny budget... lol]
