I just passed my driver's test so now I'm car shopping.
And it's much more stressful, at least to me, than one would think.
Especially browsing craigslist and finding all these things "minor issues", "[blank] needs to be fixed", etc.
I've never been good with cars so I'm kind of waiting for my step-dad to get home since he knows more.
He said to look for a private buyer rather than a dealership since you get better deals, and I want a used car anyway.
(Really, first car shouldn't be new. I think older/used cars have more character anyway)

Now that my mini-rant is over, who drives?
I think we've had a bunch of threads about driving but it's something almost everyone does.
Who still has to pass or take their driving test?
(It's really not that bad)
What kind of car do you want?
Sports, truck, SUV, etc?
(I looking at smaller cars since I don't want something big)

I'm glad I have my license and am on my way to getting a car because I've been feeling really limited lately with just my bike.

Zizzy your avatar looks so pretty!!

Now I'll go on topic. lol Cars! Have fun!! There's so many to choose. When I had to choose a car I drove my parents insane. We went out almost every day to even two different states until I found one that I loved which was right at my nearby Toyota dealer. I got my car brand new but that's b/c my parents were like 'She likes something?! OMG!! BUY IT! NOW!' One of the dealerships we went too really didn't want to let us go and even said I should draw them a pic of the car that I want so they can find a closest match. XD My kind of car would be a sports car (what I have). When we bought it dad was especially watching to make sure it was a gas saver kind of car so I don't have a huge gas bill every week. Compared to my mom's mini van...20.00 (well less at the time..I would spend almost 12.00 a week when we had the gas price drop) a week is great compared to the 60.00 a week I was used to.

I liked driving my mom's mini van compared to my car since I'm high up. But compared to my dad's car mines is a little more high up. So it's just in between...about now...I love it and got used to it. But before when I didn't have my car...I preferred the bigger vehicle.

I was limited where I live too...except not even a bike could take you to the mall. I mean you can but man it would be a killer to ride all the way there. Now they opened a walmart right nearby (honestly...it made the place a bit busier so it's not that great) and side walks are now available but for more things like the mall or even shopping centers you still need a car for transportation. sweatdrop

Are you going back out today to shop a bit more for cars?

Thanks! xd
Yours looks really nice too.
You just change it so often I forget to comment.

I'm kind of afraid that's how I'll be.
I'm not necessarily picky, but I know how I want my car to look.
I like sports cars, small and sleek.
But I've grown fond of the blockier look of 90s BMWs
So I really can't decide.
But beggars can't be choosers, I'm trying to find a reliable used car with 50,000 or less miles on it for under $4000.
I'm finding a lot of not so good cars so far. sweatdrop

That's good you were able to find your perfect car, and with good gas mileage!
My area is pretty close, so I can bike to a lot of my friend's houses.
But it gets so windy here, and I don't know if I've fully ranted about my vendetta against the wind, but I refuse to bike in it.
So I'm really glad I'll have the option of driving once I get a car.
(You couldn't bike to the mall from my house but you can get to Target which is almost as good.)

My mom and step-dad would rather find a person selling their car rather than a dealership since you get better deals, my step-dad claims, so I doubt we'll go car shopping for real.

You should have drawn a spaceship.
See what they would have done.
I really want to go to a dealership and get them to ask me this then try that.
I want to see this reaction.

lol I have been changing it often as of late. ^^"
BMW's are sweet. They last long too. If you're looking for someone selling their vehicle instead of a dealer I understand how hard that must be. sad
Here where I am you just see one or two here and there so it's like you have to go to a dealership...
Biking on a windy day....I'd be against that too. Then again I'm also against biking on a very hot day. I tried walking to my uncles house with my mom and sister...and it's just a 15 min drive away...on a hot day it felt like it took an hour to get there. >_<
On the other hand...if you buy it from someone instead of a dealership that means you won't have the monthly car loan payment only insurance right? IF that's how it works...wow! Think of how much you save!! ^^

Moonlight:
They do last.
But since they're foreign they're more expensive to fix when they do break.
There's enough cars in Vegas, according to craigslist that I have a lot of choose from.
But there's also a lot of crap. xD
FUN. If I can bike somewhere, I'll do that any day rather than walk.

CD:
Off topic but that was a good movie, Gran Torino.
Those are both pretty sweet cars though.

DT:
Ugh, that sucks.
I was one of the few in my group without a license too, except a lot of my friends have licenses without cars.
I'm actually getting a car. xD
Then I don't have to constantly bum rides off my friends that do have cars.
And I can drive to school on windy days!
That sounds nice and simple.
But those Aston Martins are pretty sweet.

I don't drive for a number of reasons.

None of them are environmental, though.

I wasn't trying to imply anything with the poll
I just wanted a BS option.

To each his own though, I'm sure you have good reasons you don't drive.

I passed my driver's test back in April. I have an SUV, and I gotta say, that Chevy Blazer is the best dang vehicle I've ever seen. Almost 250,000 miles and it's still kickin' well.

Fate:
I made a joke about that to my friend just the other day! xD
I asked her if claustrophobic people drove Hummers.
Big cars are cool though, just harder to maneuver.
Reason I want a little car.

Goldman:
Nice!
It's great when cars just work.
My mom's old car has about that and it still works great.
Saturn Vue and my step-dad is driving it now.
(mom got a new car)
