Something was very different about Mtima'safi when she woke up one day in the gods' city of snow and ice, but she couldn't wrap her head around it and quickly forgot that there should be anything suspicious about it. She knew she was a god, she knew gods were reborn and she knew.. some about her previous life. It was just easier and happier not to worry about it, so she didn't. Starting over in the haven was exciting for the cheerful little goddess. It was beautiful and interesting every first time she was there and so close to where mortal souls passed into the next world, Mtima felt comfortable hanging around for some time.

Her memories of her previous life did not make her an adult trapped in a cub's body, her cub's body changed her understanding of her memories and she was able to just let go and be a cub. She hadn't yet braved approaching any of the other gods that she had seen from a distance but she was content to play and explore by herself. Trying to hold in a giggle, she was chasing around the butterflies that had been following her around.

"Come back here!" she called, hopping along after it.

Sadly, for Tawa'di, his case was much different than her's. He was quite troubled with what had happened....and really, he had no exact idea of what did happen. He had a little better of an idea of where he was at this point. But why was he here? He knew that he was no god, and so there was no reason for him to still exist. He had passed on, and as long as his life had been, he knew that he couldn't live forever.

Troubled, he almost didn't see just where he was stomping off until he heard a voice. His ears perked up, but he still had a slight frown upon his face.

"Er," he stumbled, tripping over his own little toes and taking quite a fall. He saw the butterfly fluttering around, and for a moment thought that perhaps it could talk in this strange world-that-wasn't.

Mtima hopped a couple more energetic hops and stopped to catch her breath, watching as the butterfly fluttered a ways away before circling back around towards her again now that she had slowed down. But the butterfly wasn't the only thing she saw, there was another god standing there- another small one. It was less intimidating, and even from a distance she could tell that he looked rather troubled and that he very probably wasn't unfriendly. She hesitated a moment before hopping forward and walking towards the stranger.

"Hello!" she called, her eyes widening when she was close enough to notice and appreciate the markings that were on him. He had a very interesting design, and she was terrible at hiding her stare.

He glanced up, still thinking it odd that he didn't have a huge mane that could drown cubs his size. Everything was odd now, and he didn't think he liked it.

"Hello," he said, quickly remembering that he needed to have manners, no matter how he was feeling. "Erm...I have one question," he started slowly, figuring that he should just dive right into the matter.

"You're...a goddess, right?" Wow, that sounded stupid, but he just wanted to confirm since she was so...small.

He debated quickly on how much he should say. Would she take it poorly if she knew he was a mortal? Or perhaps still somehow was? He didn't know if there were standings of gods, or if somehow he'd get booted out for being some sort of fraud.

His mind was still there from his past life, but all this newness of everything really flustered the poor young, reborn Tawa'di.

Mtima looked back to the god's face when he spoke to her, also reminded to mind her manners. She smiled at him, almost a little too much- as if it would help him cheer up a bit. She didn't get a chance to strike up any other conversation before he said he had a question. She nodded and waited for it, tilting her head and causing the butterfly, which had since landed by her ear, to flutter up and whirl back down slowly.

"Huh?" she blinked, raising a brow and looking down to her paws and then over her shoulder to her little white wings as if she didn't know unless she checked. She looked back and spread out her wings as best she could, "Yep! I'm Mtima'safi, goddess of souls!" She smiled again, pleased to have fit an introduction into her answer. She wasn't put off by his question, if he was just reborn he might be confused or have some kind of memory problem. It happened sometimes.. didn't it?

"Souls?" He pondered over that for a moment. It made since, as Mana was the goddess of Wind. It just seemed...almost a little creepy.

He took a deep breathe, and made himself calm down a little, though. It wasn't fair to dump everything on every god he saw, trying to make them tell him what happened. He'd probably have to figure it out for himself, after he got a little guidance from whomever he could find.

"I'm Tawa'di," he said, "though I'm not necessarily certain on what I am." He paused before continuing. "As in, I thought I was a mortal," he started, holding his paws to his left. "But now I'm here, with wings and other gods," he said as he moved his paws to the right. "And I just feel like I'm in some long dream, it doesn't make sense."

Hopefully that wasn't.... a little too much information. Heh?

A cheerful nod set the butterflies away from her again, this time they landed on the snow near her rather than directly on her as they had been trying before. She had no idea what he was thinking about it when he repeated her domain, he already seemed confused, repetition wasn't terribly surprising. She blinked a couple more times as he gathered his thoughts and then introduced himself and spilled his story.

She made another face as he explained how he wasn't sure what he was because he thought he was a mortal. She 'hmmed' and circled around him once thoughtfully, coming to a stop and sitting down once she was in front of him again.

"Nope, you're definitely a god," she said matter-of-factly, "I can't tell of what but I can tell you're a god, your soul will come back again if you die. Souls that come back look different. It doesn't look very old, either, so maybe you were a mortal." She didn't know the mechanics of handing away your immortality, having never done it herself or had it done to her. She didn't need to know everything about it to think it was a possibility. Why couldn't it be?

"It always feels like a dream at first," she added her opinion with a nod, "It's weird waking up all different like this." She lifted up a paw and wiggled it demonstratively, indicating her own recent rebirth.

This was all so weird, but there was something telling him that he should just accept it. The wings were enough to force him to see differentl. Plus, he was just so short. And his mane was gone. And the ache in his head trying to figure everything out certainly would outrule any idea of a dream.

So it was reality, and he had to face it.

"Thanks," he said, shaking himself and only feeling that heavy tuft of hair on his head go everywhere. And his wings~! Whoops, he wasn't going to forget that he needed to fold them against his body before he went flailing around like that!

"Erm," he mumbled, trying to figure out how to refold his wings so they weren't so...messy looking. Yeah, going to take time indeed.

"A dream is exactly what it feels like, but that little bit of discomfort certainly reminds me that it's not!" He chuckled, though since he was so young it was more like a giggle.

"Thank you again, Mtima'safi." He smiled, finally getting himself all straightened out so he didn't look like a total wreak. It was going to be a little hard dropping some of his old habits, but his memory felt so strong it was probably going to be a while...

"So you were just reborn, too? Did you just decide to start again?" It seemed odd for a god to die, but...

Mtima giggled as she watched him shake- and the face he made as he tried to figure how to be more presentable. His funny behavior agreed with his confusion and the idea that he just might have been mortal before. Or maybe just a god without wings, that happened on occasion she was almost positive. Either way, Tawa'di was putting on a good show.

"You'll get used to it, you'll have to," she nodded optimistically at the comment about it being like a dream and the discomfort he felt. She put her paw back down on the ground and smiled at him.

"I was," Mtima confirmed when asked about her own rebirth but had to add a shrug for the second question, "I don't remember what happened, I just woke up here like this a while ago. Sometimes it just happens, I guess."

Have to indeed. RIght now though, it actually wasnt sounding, or feeling, quite so bad. If he really thought about it, he would be around more. He'd be able to be there for his- no, now his anymore. But the pride that he would watch over. Yes, that sounded about right.

What didn't sound right was trotting right in there the size of a cub so soon after everyone thought you died. Erm. Boy, how was he going to approach that subject? Obviously, something for a later day.

"Ah," he said, feeling a little awkward. That could be bad, but good, as well. If he didn't remember anything, he would probably just be as happy-go-lucky as well. The trade-off would not be remembering the Ela'wadiyi though, and god-hood or not, they were always going to be in his blood.

"Well, can't always be bad," he said with a grin, vocalizing his thoughts. "Sometimes it's just easier to start fresh, than remembering everything." Hm.

"Mhmm," Mtima agreed, not at all seeming worried about what she couldn't remember, "I don't think everybody forgets or that you always forget or remember. I do remember it had been awhile, or it would have had to be or I'd remember more than what I do. I think anyway." She wrinkled her nose as she tried to explain her thinking but even just saying it was getting confusing. She wasn't too worried about it.

With a thoughtful sigh, she looked back to Tawa'di with a smile and tilted her head.

"So- do you know what you're god of?" she asked, "How are you supposed to figure it out? What can you do?" Mtima couldn't tell him and she wasn't sure if you would just know. She knew who she was but she'd known for so long she wasn't sure if it was instinct or memory telling her so. She couldn't do many spectacular or obvious things with her powers but she knew others sometimes could. The idea that it might help figure it all out came out in her series of questions before she got her first answer. She just had too many questions!

"Ummmmm." He sat there for a moment, staring blankly at the ground just in front of her paws. Woah, purple, he...somehow hadn't noticed her toes before.

After staring off for probably a moment too long, he shook his head. "I haven't a clue. I wonder if it's because I'm not totally sure who like...switched with me, or something." He shifted his paws around, representing the switch that he was so sure had happened. At least he knew two things for sure. Someone gave immortality up for him, and here he was, being a god.

"Part of me thinks I need to find them, or figure out who did it to really know for sure what I am." He puffed up and exhaled strongly. "At least I know I'm not the god of fire or something," he said with a sheepsih grin.

Mtima sat patiently, watching as Tawa'di thought about it and still not trying to hide her wide, curious stare. After a moment, she couldn't help but look him over for any clues that his appearance might offer. He didn't look obviously associated with anything but then, neither did she. Except that she knew purple was her color. It just was. But that didn't mean it would be easy for anybody but her to recognize that.

"Yeah, you don't look like fire," she agreed with a snicker, "I wish I could help but I'm only good at finding others that I know. Whoever it was should know about here, maybe they'll be somewhere near the mountain- just- on the bottom."

She looked around thoughtfully before looking back to Tawa'di.

"No mortals can get up here," she nodded, though she glanced around again in case she were about to be proven wrong, "But they might be able to figure out where it is if they knew before."
PostPosted: Mon Jan 04, 2010 6:25 pm

Eeeerrr. Tawa'di did want to know at least what he was, his essence, what he could do for mortals. But the fact of the chance to really confront that so soon seemed terrifying. Maybe he...shouldn't. But if he didn't, he was just hiding from everything. And he wasn't a hider, even if he was just a little cub again.

"That's an idea," he said shakely, at least feeling reassured that the god-turned-mortal wouldn't be able to reach him up here. A sudden thought rushed into his head; what if it was a mistake?

No, he wouldn't think like that. It would be obvious in some way, it would have to be.

"Maybe...I could look. When I feel a little more brave about the situation," he stammered with an embarassed smile. So much, so soon, things that seemed to break much of his knowledge for so long! Mana had never told him much, and he didn't feel like he needed to know. Now? He wished he had asked so many more questions!

"Well, you don't really need to rush anyway, do you?" she said thoughtfully, wondering if anything serious might get out of whack if he spent some time lurking around the haven uncertain of what he was or what he was supposed to do, "Maybe, if you're really important but if something goes really bad you should be able to tell." Mtima shook her hair a bit and got back up to her feet, her tail swaying behind her happily.

"So, how much have you seen around here?" she asked, "I like hanging out by the gates- but Death is scary and that's where he mostly is. But they're the most interesting thing around here, and it's where all the souls go." She nodded brightly. Her comment about Death was quiet but she otherwise sounded quite cheerful.
