One of my friends on Fur Affinity posted this in a journal..
Quote:

Take a look at the website and the pamphlets...
Please shut down this website giving out misleading info in an immature manner. Sign the petition =D

http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/shutdownafc/

Also feel free to copy and paste this journal.

Come on people lets get that site shut down and make a stand to show that this fandom is Nothing like those people say it is.

So i feel rather upset after reading that site. 3= They seem to be making false claims and its rather uncool.

discuss.

I have seen this site before and I think it's satire or parody. Especially considering how small and poorly built the website is.

Spreading it around will only cause drama. Anti-furry s**t is great for the lulz, mostly because of how furries react to it.

There is a problem with this petition, and to understand it you must go through the following questions to discover why:
Is this site actively promoting and carrying out violence against people?
Is the site promoting terrorism? (Outside of the "You go girl!" ways.)
Is this site distributing pornographic or otherwise objectionable material to minors or are such materials illegal?
If you said no to all of those, then the website can't really be taken down.

In fact, the only real way to "get back" at them is if they say something directed towards you or specifically addresses you in some way that isn't true and this is a detriment to your reputation based upon evidence. (Evidence such as being rejected for jobs because these people somehow think you're a poor worker based upon something they said about you.) In which case, you can then sue them for slander. Otherwise, attacking a hobby doesn't really count for anything. It's the equivalent of calling pokemon fans poketards and saying they're all idiots who can't keep a job. (I like pokemon, just an example!) It's not slander and thus protected under free speech.

Free speech doesn't mean you have the right to do say whatever you want though. There are reasons why people don't shout fire for no reason. That said, I doubt (even without looking at their website) that they are doing anything illegal or really wrong. Is it wrong on a "human" level? Of course, but they're being uncivilized idiots who don't want to play nicely with others. Can't do much about those other than assume they'll never make it anywhere in life. 3nodding

I never had any hopes of shutting down the site *shrugs* but is that how society really sees us?

This site is kind of lulzy.
I have trouble believing they're serious.
In fact, I doubt they are.

This. I admit I had a good laugh or two when I saw the downloadable "Run Away from the Furry" maze game for children. Not to mention the signs for hanging on doors and stuff intended to tell furries they aren't welcome.

I did facepaw at the "What are furries?" section though.

Because I have so many furries walking past my house every day that they need to know they're not welcome.

I laughed at the 5 steps.
Because people seriously want to set up booths.
That kind of stuff really makes you look cool.

This. There's a reason that furries are the biggest troll magnets: it's almost pathetically easy to get a reaction.

I have no desires to check out the site, but I am sure I would find it hilarious if I did.

Seriously, we need to stop reacting to so called "anti-furs," or "fur-haters," we just give them more ammo to work with when we go around bitching, complaining and acting like we some kind of persecuted minority.

A lot of time these so called "anti-furs" are furries themselves, simply trolling the fandom and looking from some lulz because they know how easy it is to drum up drama. The best recourse is to simply ignore them, eventually they will get bored and move onto some other group. By reacting you are doing exactly what they want and only encourage the behavior.
