Thalion:
"Dad please... no stop, knock it off, Dad what the hell?!" Gaddith pushed and pushed at his father's maw with his tiny paws, but Sinbad wouldn't be detoured. He had no chance in pushing the larger lion about, so really all he had left to re-direct his father's attention were confused pleas.

He had been training along the outskirts, as his father had insisted that he did since he was old enough to walk about on his own. He would never be the monster his father was in size, but already the cub was showing an impressive build.

It was during said training -today he had been climbing up a large boulder- that Sinbad had seized him, crying and blubbering on and on for some 'bonding time'. It was embarassing. It was akward. And it was getting his fur wet.

For the fourth time, Gaddith rolled in his father's paws and clawed at the ground in a pitiful attempt to drag himself away.

"Stop it! Before you know it you'll be grown and sent away to fend for yourself! It'll be over before you know it and I'll never see you again!" The large lion scooped the cub back up and pulled him into an akward hug against his chest- nearly smothering the cub in the thick mane around his chest. He'd been such a terrible person! A terrible father and a terrible role-model. By all rights, Gaddith was a perfect canidate for the pride. He had the right colors, the right mindset (even if he was a little softer than old-Sinbad would have liked) and he was devoted to his family.

"I'm so sorry!"

"SOMEBODY HELP!"

Dark Fire Angel:
And ... that was actually the scene Maji had walked in on after she'd left the den to take a small stroll. She'd been horribly reasured by Kidondo's words and no longer looked like she was going to leap and cling to a random rock, if someone so much as looked at her.

In her defense though, she was rather small compared to them, and though it hadn't mattered much in the roguelands, it really did make for a strange view within this pride.

"Sinbad... you're going to kill the child if you keep on squeazing him," a pause as she drew nearer and hesitated before trying to take poor child out of the larger lion's paws, "Are you planning on killing him? Because if you aren't, you're doing a rather swell job at it - I don't know if the poor child is going to drop dead from embarrasement OR smothered to death."

She was hesitant to touch the cub - granted, a few males had already shoot approving glances at her for her colors, even despite her slight build it was clear she was a good huntress. But still, she was merely a visitor and most of the pride were horribly tricky about how they treated rogues.

Thalion:
Sinbad's eyes flew open and without hesitation, he tossed Gaddith away from him- and towards Maji. Thankfully she was already reaching out to tug him away from his father so there wasn't any damage done.

The cub groaned and reached a paw up to rub at his head. "....thanks...lady?" He rolled his head back and blinked.

"I didn't mean to." Sinbad lowered his paws down to the sand and dipped into his shoulders. He hadn't really been squeezing him to death was he? Maybe he didn't know his own strength...he'd have to remember to be more gentle.

"...so uh...." He reached a paw out to cautiously pat Gaddith's man back into place, "Did you talk to... Kidono?"

Dark Fire Angel:
Had she not been reaching for the child, it would have been posible he'd have gotten hurt. As it was though, Maji had been expecting some sort of reaction from the larger male and thus wa perfectly capable for catching the cub, "You're welcome," she told him as she set him down on the ground, giving him space so he could regain his bearings.

She then lowered her head down to whisper to the cub, "I'd be careful around your father for a while.... he fought a god, you know - It endded up in a draw, but I think he had his brains rattled a bit from the fight so don't mind him."

Turning her head to Sinbad she couldn't help but shake her head sadly - the fact he now looked so horribly guilty and confussed was enough to tug at her slightly. He looked like a big... harmless.... something. She didn't know what was big and harmless that she could compare to him, but whatever 'it' was... well, Sinbad sure as hell resembled it at the moment.

Rather than chosing to comment on that though, she drew nearer to him and sat down by the now familiar frame, "Yes, yes I did," she said, "He said I was welcome to stay as long as I needed, or as long as I see fit as a guest," a pause, "He offered me a change to challenge someone here for a permanent place, but I told him I really am probably... physically not up for the challenge. I know my own limitations, and I sadly think that any of you would posibly snap me in two with just one hit. As I told him, I'm a thinker, not a fighter. I'm a follower of the brain, not the claws."

She turned pensive then, as if she really was amused by something, "Aparently, he rather likes me, because he told me he would talk his council, whomever they are, about letting me stay without having to take up a fighting challenge."

Thalion:
Gaddith swayed as he was set down on the ground. With a shake of his head and a few vigious licks along his front leg.

As the lioness expained, his mouth fell open and his nose creased. His father...fought a god? And it ended in a draw? Well no wonder he was acting weird. "...thanks for the head's up. Is this....going to be him now? Because...honestly it's kind of freaking me out."

"That was nice of him to consider an alternitive... it's not a bad pride when you get past the joining rite..." He smiled quietly and slowly settled himself back down on the ground. His head was still bothering him. There was a haze that continued to linger in the back of his mind, even after a night's rest in the pride's lands and a few drinks of water. Perhaps he was hungry.... yeah that must be it. He was having trouble remembering some things, and more trouble trying to rationalize his change in behavior.

"He's... a nice guy. I didn't like him. I thought he was too soft, so did my old man, but we're family. I should talk to him....or something."

"But I thought...", Gaddith frowned and shook his head. "Nevermind."

So all that talk of a rebellion, over-throwing the current nobility, restoring their pride- all of it. Which was a relief. Gaddith knew he wasn't to stay within the pride. Sinbad had impressed and impressed into him that -if- he wanted to return and live among his siblings, he would have to over-throw the rulers.

Dark Fire Angel:
Her eyes focussed on the cub and it was obvious that she didn't, for the life of her, know if 'this' would be Sinbad forever, or if it was just transitory. Technicaly, she wasn't even sure she LIKED the idea of transitory and she sue as all hell didn't even know why she CARED, because he'd pretty much been an a** and a jerk when she'd met him (even if he had been harmless to her).

"I honestly have no idea, child. I think it's safe to say it might be transitory. Just be ahhh... patient," she said this in a whisper as she'd lowered the head to the cub, almost as if sharing a special secret with him - a secret he would have to keep and guard. In a way, she figured it gave the child a purpose to hold onto for a while.

"He's fine. I rather enjoyed my talk with him," a pause followed, "He's really big though. ********, you're all very big here. Is there something in the water around herre that I'm unaware of? I'm not THAT small when I'm in the roguelands. Sure, there's larger rogues, but there's also much smaller ones too. You people are just ...." and she made some sort of funny gesture with her paws, almost as if an attempt to make lighter talk.

Instinct told her something bigger was going on here, and she was trying to mask it with idle talk. Hell, she was actually trying to amuse the larger lion - in all honesty, she was worried. There, she thought it - she was worried. More distressing was the fact she had no idea why she was worried, but that was beside the point.

Her eyes landed on the cub again and even though she really did not know him, she made a small gesture to him, almost an invitation to join her, and her small smirk seemed to voice that no - she was, in fact, NOT going to smother him or drool on him, or otherwise embarase him to death if he came to her, "Hmmm... talking is good I guess," her eyes went back to sinbad and she squinted, "I talk and talk and yet haven't the foggiest what it is... is going on here."

Thalion:
The cub nodded slowly. He wasn't sure what to make of it all. Just the other day he'd been scolded for being too 'soft' when he'd broken up a fight between his siblings Apparenlty fighting was a good thing- it 'built character'. Though from where he'd been sitting it caused a lot of torn ears, roughed up fur, and bloody scratches. All of which would be very inconvienient during training. Sand in an open wound was less than pleasant. And now his father was....the picture of soft. He was crying, inquiring about feelings and apologizing. Things that Gaddith had been warned about.

"You can call me Gaddith, I'm not that young." He threw out his chest and tossed his head back, "My mane's already coming in. It's a lot thicker than my brothers. At least I think so."

"We're....decended from the goddess Finar-Si. We still carry her blood, though most of them are mix-bloods now." He seemed a little sad on the topic. "I think my father was the last pure blood male in his day, then he found a female and had us, my other sibilings. After that- we've started to water down. Gaddith and his siblings are mixed."

The cub turned and blinked. That was obviously news to him.

"There's a lot of division among the pride. My family used to be the ones in power. We were superior in lineage and power. We were just fewer in number. So we lost." He brought a paw up to his mouth, "Kidono's my cousin... I think. Some times removed, I get confused past a certain point."

Dark Fire Angel:
Amusingly enough, the lioness did not snort at the cub - in fact, she arched a brow up, and then angled her head, as if trying to judge Gaddith from looks alone, "Hmmmm..." she said, then turned her head again, her flock of red hair flopping to the oposite side to hide one of her eyes from view (she did so find it strange that almost no firekin females seemed to have that flock of hair - huh), "Yes," she told the younger male, "Yes, I believe you might just be right. I can see your mane rather well indeed. But it is my experience that it's less about it's size and more about how you use it," it was a bit of a jab at masculinity in general, but the cub was not going to get it, and it had been her own strange attempt at a joke.

She reached out with a paw to straighten out the cub's mane, making a small face at the fact he was still wet from his father's affections. She stroked a bit of the drool out of the cub's pelt and then retreated her paw, focussing back on Sinbad.

What he was saying was.... interesting actually, "So in a way it's like a big familly feud," she seemed mildly amused at the idea, then shook her head, chossing, wisely, to not comment on it all. After all, she did not want to piss people off on her first day here, "Ah, so that's why you introduced yourself as a lord. You didn't look much like a lord from where I was standing - let me take a swift look again just to make sure," she shifted a bit so that her face was now in front of his and squinted, leaning forward till her nose touched his, then pulling back with such seriousness one could have thought she'd been conducting a really hard experiment, "No, I'm afraid my earlier statement still stands. But that's just fine too. It's fine," she could still feel something bigger than her was going on and she was STILL desperately trying to push some sort of lightness into the situation. She wasn't sure it was working.

Thalion:
"How I use my mane?" He blinked and glanced over to Sinbad. Well he'd almost been smothered in it- but that wouldn't come in too handy against an opponent. Hugging someone into his mane wouldn't just be silly, it would be suicide. Perhaps it was an adult joke. He'd heard a few of them and didn't understand any of them. Adults were silly.

"You could say that I suppose. It's a disagreement in beliefs and how we're supposed to live." He shrugged. "When I was a cub...it was the end of our era. We had slaves, we were dominant here. My father would go out and bring slaves back for my siblings. I never got one, I wasn't exactly the....favorite you might say."

His ears drooped as she inspected him. Well he had been a lord, it was still a title that he would like to see reinstated- but presently it didn't seem very realistic. Rather than snap at her cocky observation, he looked away. "..guess you're right."

Dark Fire Angel:
He visibly deflated, and Maji felt damned because it made her frown to see him deflate like that. There was no trace of the cocky, arrogant lion she'd met in the desert. This was someone else, and she had to physicaly refrain herself from trying to lift him off from the floor and searching beneath him, almost as if she'd somehow find the other lion right there under the bulk of this large... well, he was acting very much like an emotional teddy bear.

She was also having a hard time trying not to comfort him. Mostly though, because it was sort of her fault that he was in this situation, "You really do care, don't you?" her voice had lowered a notch and she was frowning at him, confussed, awkward and not too sure what to do about it all. Finally, after a long pause, she settled back down on the ground and did the only thing that came to mind at that moment.

She leaned her frame into him, turning her head away to watch the sky. In a way it almost looked like she were reclining herself against the side of a sofa, but it meant something a little bit bigger than that. In all honesty, he could have raged right there and then. He could have reverted back to his old self and Maji would have known that burried deep under all those layers of arrogance and hate and bitterness, there was also this personality. It was there, beneath it all, too weak to surface, but still there, she was sure of it.

What was worse was that she trusted him. He was safe. She'd jumped practically under him several times when they'd first entered the pride lands. Granted, she was not dumb - he would not have been able to do with her whatever he wanted, but still, fact was that she was reclined against him silently, "You know, titles are just words. They're not tangiable. They're not even real," she was looking up at the sky as she spoke, her voice held a tired note to it, for some reason, "Titles aren't really as important as all that. They're just words. A name. Words have no power over you, unless you let them."

Thalion:
Sinbad nodded slowly, though his eyes remained firmly averted away from hers. He coudln't say exactly -why- he cared, nor did he really know how to handle the complex emotion. It was a heavy feeling that settled into the pit of his chest, it wasn't something he'd felt since he was just a young cub, huddled against his siblings in the mouth of the cave as they watched their father fight the incoming rebels. The loss has anchored a bitterness where anything positive had once been. Everything his father said he'd be, everything that he'd dreamed of becoming had gone. He blamed anyone and everyone for it.

The caring thing wasn't something he quite knew how to deal with. What was he supposed to do? Obviously his attempts with Gaddith had been both annoying and embarassing to the cub.

He glanced up only to have a weight settle on his shoulder. He blinked and turned to her, confusion smearing over his features. What...was she doing?

Her words forced his head down once more. She had a point, but there was more to it than that. "Words are strong things here. The wrong ones can leave you on your own or leave you at the bottom of the pride's chain of command as the laughing stock. We were promised greatness"

Dark Fire Angel:
She held her position, visibly relaxed - she was not asking for anything in return for the contact and did not seem to be expecting him to DO anything with it. It was meant to give him comfort, but then again, she'd been a rogue, alone for a very long time. She wasn't particularly deft at this whole conforting others deal. It was awkward but at least she was trying.

"Eh," she said, finally turning her head to look at him, though the pose was almost comical, because she had to toss her head back against him and look at him akwardly out the corner of an eye, "Maybe that's what the problem is all about - you really can't rely on others and their promises of greatness. I don't know about here, but out there," she motioned towards the pride boundaries, beyond their field of vision, "You rely on yourself and your intincts to makeyou great. Maybe it's the same here - can't just expect someone to up and make you great - You have to do it yourself. Show them," a pause as she arched a brow, "Taking down a god, by the way, is not a good show of greatness in case you are wondering - it's a really stupid idea. Baby step. Why don't you start small and work up?"

A roll of her shoulders signalled a shrug and she turned her head away to look back up at the stars - watching him was really not a good idea given her chosen position, which he was nor accepting nor rejecting. Huh. "What DID that god tell you anyhow? What'd he say? Do you even remember?"

Thalion:
The comical gesture was lost on him. Afterall, as a cub he was the king of akward, perhaps even senseless gestures. His sisters would often question his mental stability. Gaddith, however, snickered nearby.

He frowned and shrugged slowly. "We were trained for something else. Programmed for something else. Though my father worked harder on Kenna than anyone else. I was supposed to protect her...we were supposed to re-claim this place and restore it to the way it was. Our blood was something to be proud of. Now Kenna's...well she's falling into the pride. She's turned on us." He bit his lip and made a quiet choking sound. "I'm the weird one. Afzal left me, he was supposed to stay. I don't like my place here."

Thalion:
Gaddith rolled his eyes. Obviously it wasn't an uncommon statement from his father- it was simply the approach that had changed. Rather than raging and storming around hitting things, he was almost sobbing again. If this was how he was going to act from here on in, Ali-Baba might just step up to 'keep them in line'. And he certainly wasn't looking forward to that.

"Oh....well...", He rubbed at his head again, eyes narrowing. "Something about being selfish? I don't know...I wasn't really listening. I was so angry I couldn't see straight... I thought if I brought down an unworthy god, Finar-si would return and bless us... I guess I wasn't thinking."

The cub made a scoffing sound and hunched his shoulders. Of course he wasn't thinking. He was never thinking.

Dark Fire Angel:
Thought Sinbad did not seem to catch the way the cub snickered, Maji sure did and she made sure to grant the cub a small wink of an eye that only he could see (after all, the older male was not in a position that he could see).

"Hmmm... have you spoken to this Kenna girl you talk of? Why do I get the impression you've just formulated all these thought on your own and you haven't even bothered to double check anything with your sister? If you have doubts, the best way to dispell them is to inform yourself, eh?" it seemed logical to her, but then again, she had little knowledge of the inner workings of the pride.

"I don't know. The regent seemed wise enough when I spot to him - it's not all about brute force. It's a bit of a balance. Maybe your sister decided a feud is the last thing you guys needed. I don't know - what I do know is that you're being emo and you should cheer up," the snot the cub made also did not go unnoticed and again she turned her head towards Gad, arching a brow, "Cheer up because I think you're kind of frightening your son there - not everything is all grey and doom and power and s**t. Have you ever paused to take your sight away from all this power you feel was stripped from you? There's other things even more important than that."

What was really amusing... was the fact that the regent had seemed so utterly AGAINST all gods and this male, Sinbad, seemed so horribly focussed on this Finar-si girl. It was interesting, to say the least, but she wasn't about to butt in on it, "I suggest you take the time to talk to Kenna. That aside, really, cheer on up. Whatever happened to that smirk and that arrogance. Where'd it go?" she twisted her frame and lifted her paws, using her fingers to force a smile on him, "Uhhhh.... not quite."

Thalion:
Sinbad made a small whimpering sound and began drawing little circles in the sand. He hadn't spoken to Kenna, but he was a little intimidated to even think about it. Not that his older self would have admitted that. She had a mate now, a family, and she was higher in rank than he was. Not to mention, the job he -had- been given within the pride he had done as horribly as possible. It was very, very rare that he'd return with a kill to share with the pride.

He shrugged. He had children, that was true, but their mothers were raising them. He might even be a grandfather...maybe he was. He was an uncle for sure. Time had just kind of gotten away from him.

"It's...complicated. I don't know how to handle this. I was never....soft before. I didn't care. Is this how it feels? It's heavy." He winced and flicked his tail sharply behind him.

"Yeah you might want to get a handle on that." Gaddith piped in quietly. "If you walk around moping like that the others are going to think that you went...well wrong in the head. They might send you away too- or Ali will take advantage."

He shifted his eyes off to the side, half expecting his older half-sibling to just apprear. Sometimes it seemed like that's just what he did. The young adult was making it his personal buisness to keep an eye on his family, to keep them in line.

"Maybe....you should talk to my mom too. She knows the new way of the pride well...who knows, you might like it?"

"I don't want to like it." He snapped.

Dark Fire Angel:
"It's never NOT complicated, Sinbad," it was the first time she'd actually called him by his name rather than idiot, or hey you, or anything else that had come to mind at the time. Somehow, she felt the need to press and she could not really understand why. He was a stranger, at the end of the day. A couple of days did not warant for the need to press into his personal life and yet here she was, trying to cheer him up for no other reason than that it felt right at that moment in time.

"It takes great strength to face your feelings and tackle them - it's not soft. The really strong ones are the ones that can battle against themselves and win. You have no enemies except yourself," she paused and leaned back against him once more, letting the contact warm her as she pondered (stupid desert and it's stupid cold nights what the bloody hell), "I am going to take that whimper as confirmation that you've not spoken to Kenna," another pause and she watched him out the corner of an eye, "

Dark Fire Angel:
And I advice you do so as soon as posible. However, in the mean time... you'd do well in listening to the boy," she motioned at the cub, whom was, ironicaly, much more eloquent and rational than the father had ever been, even before whatever it was the god had done to him, "Seems to know what he's talking about."

Still, even after the mild reprimand, Maji couldn't help but sigh again, "You know, I think that what he did was.... force you care. I couldn't hear a word he said, but it seems like he might've amplified that feeling above others though for the life of me I can't understand why?" the question was asked with sarcasm as she reached with a paw and patted his side, as if he were some sort of... giant puppy dog, or a teddy bear perhaps.

Safe, unreal, and horribly strange.

"It'll be fine," it was a lie, really. She had no way of knowing that, and yet it felt like it was the only thing she could say - that same thought had gotten her out of a lot of sticky situations in the past.

Thalion:
Sinbad's ears flew back once more. Direct verbal confrontation was difficult. Physical confrontation was much easier in the past. It was more effective as well. He'd never, in his life, talked -anything- out. If there was an argument, he would handle it the only way he knew how- by roaring or wrestling it out. He and his siblings all bore scars of their arguments. From favorite den spots to nap in to who got what scrap of food.

He swallowed and looked between Gaddith and Maji. His support group. If he had a little more of a handle on himself, he might find humor in the situation. Perhaps even a little gratitude, but for now he was wedged between confusion and guilt.

"Well...what should I say? I don't normally...talk about things."

"Yeah no kidding." Gaddith sneered, "Mom doesn't even know your name! Maybe you should start with that..." He nudged Maji, "But... well I wanna meet aunt Kenna. I'm sure between me and your lady friend- what's your name again?- you should be fine. Just...leave the claws in the paws.">

Dark Fire Angel:
Her brows shoot up till they hid under the flock of red hair, "I beg your pardon?" she didn't look horrified but rather, horribly and ... utterly amused, which she knew was extremely wrong of her, and she took a moment to mentaly chastise herself, but otherwise could not help herself, "You have got to be kidding me - she does not know his name? Gosh, maybe I should feel priviledged that you actually offered it to me within minutes of knowing me, how charming."

She was trying to hide her mirth, but she honestly could not do so, "No wonder I thought you dangerous the moment I lay eyes on you - you didn't want to bloody well hurt me, did you," a pause, "Scoundrel, that's what you are," another pause, "Were. Are, were-ish? I don't even know," again she patted his side, almost as if to reasure him that her words were meant with no real harm whatsoever, "Well, usually, where I come from, when you want to talk to someone about something, you go find them and then you ask them, or spill your worries. Both things work rather well. You should give it a try. You'd be surprised how far a please and a sorry can get you if used right."

She turned to stare down at the child again, "You know, I think I rather like you. You act more grown up than he does," she motioned towards Sinbad, "My name is Maji'moto - fire water. My parents were obviously in on some sort of joke, naming me like that, I'm sure," she watched the larger male out of the corner of an eye and smirk, "Hell yes. Unstopable, that's what we are. Obviously, everything will be just fine. And if anything goes wrong, we can always jump under you - you work swell as a shield. Big and bulky."

Thalion:
Sinbad ducked into his shoulder further. He had enjoyed toying with the poor older lioness...then taking advantage of her when she...was in need. She had his children, and for the most part she was raising them alone. Whenever he stepped in, it was to impress hard training and cruel demands. Gaddith's small hardened body was testiment enough to that.

He responded only by clearing his throat to that. Poor lioness... Raising so many on her own. His eyes glazed over again and just as quickly, he rubbed at his eyes. It was just sand in his eye. Yup. That's all.

Scoundrel. The word drove him further into his shoulders. Any more and his head might just fall into the pit of his chest. He had been one by all rights but it didn't help his present mood. "I don't know how to talk things out.... can you do it for me? Send my regards... I like that."

Gaddith smirked, an expression that he shared with his father but there was something more easy-going about his gesture. "Thanks. Mom's not as bad as he might have made her out to be. She won't believe all this though."

Dark Fire Angel:
"I don't think I believe any of this and I was there when it happened," she was still patting his side, like one would a sick, confussed child and as he spoke again, Maji turned to face him, rubbing his shoulder the best she could, "Oh, hush, such nonsense coming out of your mouth. That's not how any brave warrior talks. It's just a little talk - it shan't be the bloody end of the world, Sinbad," she paused her patting to lean in again, taking in the way he seemed to be recoiling into himself, "She's your sister - I very much doubt she'll do anything to you. I'll go with you, if you wish, but you'll do the talking. How's that sound?"

Again she paused in her talking, as if pondering something, and then nodded to herself, "But not today. It looks like your head has had enough for one day. You should rest today," and then, it was her whom lowered her head and looked horribly awkward, "Talking about all this resting bussiness - would you mind terribly if I stayed with you in your den? I refuse to sleep out in the bloody outside - stupid desert and it's stupid temperatures, I swear...." she looked over at him lamely, awkwardly, her ears flopping mildly to the side of her head, "I wasn't honestly expecting to stay much longer, but it seems I now have a choice and I have... no den."

Thalion:
He ran his paw over his face and groaned quietly. Well at least he would have company in the confrontation. Kenna knew him from cubhood. He'd often fall victem to her fussing as a cub. Fussing that had stopped as her attention fell away from family outward towards the pride. Some of his old fury bubbled up but was quickly shoved down by something. It left him reeling and hissing under his breath.

Sinbad glanced over and lifted an eyebrow. She wanted to share his den? His eyes snapped over to Gaddith who nodded his approval. Why that gesture made him feel any better was anyone's guess.

"...that's fine. It's not big... I'm just a hunter."

Dark Fire Angel:
The hiss was not missed, though Maji could not really know what or whom it was directed at. Kidondo's words resounded in her head - he'd warned her that Sinbad might revert back to his old .... self at any given moment, and that he might become violent in the process.

Her eyes regarded the large male for a long moment, as if assesing the situation and the warning before dismissing it. She had absolutely no idea WHY but something deep down told her that even if he reverted back in the middle of the night, he wouldn't bring her actual harm. Besides, from the sound of it, it seemed he was more into seducing than attacking females and in all honesty, she didn't really think she interested him much at all.

Worries dispelled she offeed him her first honest smile. There was gratitude there, and why she was trusting him was anyone's guess, but at the moment... he needed help and Maji figured she might as well help. It was the least she could do, "I know," she said simply - she'd been there, after all, "I'm just a rogue," she countered back.

Thalion:
He rolled his eyes. Just a rogue was close enough to hunter. It was the lowest rank in the pride- aside from being a cub. He hated it. Not only because of the lack of respect that came with the rank- and the insult to his pride that it brought in his own mind- but he was a fighter. He'd been trained and groomed for battle. As a cub he dreamed of sharpening his claws on the hides of his enemies. Even with his new mentality- he was disapointed in his role. He didn't have the same battle lust, but he didn't want to grow old and wither to nothing where he was.

Maybe he was being emo.

He stood himself up, shook his mane out, and nodded back towards the denning area. "Come on then... might as well get tucked in. Gaddith- you coming?"

The cub's eyes widened. He was...invited to sleep in the same den? "I...well...." He glanced up to Maji.

Dark Fire Angel:
"It was a joke, sinbad, please do cheer on up," she couldn't quite understand what was so wrong about being a hunter - she'd spent her life hunting and she didn't think her life had gone all that badly, really, "You're worrying me now, surely there's more to life than feeling ashamed? Specially of a title? There's ways to climb up, you know. Ways to climb up without the need for a bloody revolution, let me tell you that. It's all about politics and being smart."

She paused talking as he stood up watching him for a moment, "Then again, I guess that's why it was a lost cause for you - maybe I can be of service? And by service, I do mean so in the most innocent ways. You offer my your den, and I offer you insight, how about that?"

The cub's eyes grew large at the invitation and god help her, Maji's heart practically melted to the ground at the scene, right there and then, "If you lag behind, I'm going to take the most comfortable spot in that den,"she told the cub, a playful challenge. She rather liked the cub and felt no need to treat him in any diferent way than she would have any other lion, big or small.

Thalion Koi
"I was born in a different mindset. We all had our place. We earned our place through strength, power, and prowess...not tact, wisdom and....all that. I can't just change like that. But I'll try." He started walking slowly, his paws dragging in the sand under the weight of his fategue. "I'm not very adaptable."

It was ironic. The old firekin worshiped the goddess of change and yet individuals like himself and Afzal couldn't handle change. He had stayed and withered into an angry, violent drain on the pride. Afzal had fled, unable to accept his new place.

He nodded slowly. "I guess that's a fair trade. Right now I just want to lay down and sleep. Forever."

His ears perked up and in a heartbeat Gaddith was to his paws scampering after the adults. He'd spent so many nights wedged between his sleeping siblings and his mother's warm belly. Even if the most comfy spot was occupied- he could stretch out! It was exciting.

Dark Fire Angel:
She nodded, because honestly, she understood. He didn't LOOK very adaptable, really, but anyone and everyone could change. Specially those that were forced by circumstances and it sure as hell did look like circumstances were pushing him far indeed. She chose not to comment on that, and instead took his last comment with a mild, good natured shrug, "That's okay. Baby steps," she snorted a bit as she followed, now troting beside him without any fear at all, which rather contrasted their little stroll through the desert, "Also, I wouldn't recomend sleeping forever. Forever is a very long time. You're bound to get bored rather quickly."

A pause as she looked up, "Do you snore?" it was a change of topic and a way of hopefully dragging his mind out of that thrid gear it seemed to be permanently stuck in, "I hope you don't. I don't think I snore," she was midful of the cub even on their way to the den.

They must've looked like such a horribly odd trio.
