Tsubame had been watching over the five cubs as Achal, Maua, and Ban'ma went about doing what ever they were doing. Tsu didn't mind since for the past while she had been feeling out of sorts since Achal had returned with his other two cubs. She was watching the cubs from a distance since she no longer seemed to have the energy to play with them but she was very glad that after a week or so she no longer found everything as irritating as she did before Ban'ma joined her growing family.
Tsu shifted slightly in the shade of her tree that she was currently sitting under, her slowly growing belly looked out of place on the petite lioness. She couldn't figure out why she seemed to be gaining so much weight, yes her appetite seemed to spike quite a bit recently and she finds herself getting tired easier but nothing could really explain these odd occurrences, she never connected them with her irritably from before.

Ban'ma was in hog heaven.
She couldn't have been happier if she'd been turned into a goddess on the spot. When she wasn't busy hunting with Maua and Tsubame, she was allowed, even encouraged to play with the cubs. By the time she retired for the night her legs were so wobbly she couldn't do more than flop down.
Ban'ma was clipping her way back to the den when she saw Tsubame and the cubs. A fond smile lit up her face. Tossing her mane over her right eye, she took a little detour to the other lioness' side. "Shoo! It sure is a warm one today, isn't it?" When her paws touched the shade the young lioness sighed, bouncing lightly to cool her paws.
Something about Tsubame seemed different today. She had a feeling, but it was easily dismissed. If anything like that were true, she would have told her, right?

Tsubame looked up when Ban'ma joined her in the shade. "Yes it seems like the sun is closer then normal." She smiled at the bubbly lioness glad to have company. "I thought you were out doing something?" she asked as she shifted again, her stomach irritating her. "You can join me if you have the time." Tsu felt kind of bad since she had not really had the time to spend much time with this new lioness since Achal brought her back but what she knew she liked.
"We really haven't had a chance to talk much have we?" She admitted sheepishly. She flinched in pain as a sharp poke radiated from her stomach, Tsu grimaced and shifted once again, "I swear I think there is a alien growing in there rather then me just gaining weight." she joked trying to make light of her growing size.

Ban'ma looked away sheepishly. " I-I was...but I got tired." How was she supposed to say she was chased by a gazelle, instead of the other way around? She thought it was going to run her through! She slowly lowered herself onto the ground, glad for the invite. It made her nervous thinking about the other females...and if they liked her.
"No, but I think we will in the future." Ban'ma nodded knowingly, grinning. "Hehe, well, your showing beautifully." Her eyes took on a concerned light as she leaned forward. "Are you alright? Is there anything I can do for you? I think I left part of a hair somewhere if your hungry."

Tsubame looked at Ban'ma, she couldn't figure out what Ban'ma meant when she said that she was showing beautifully then when she offered her some help and food Tsu was completely confused. With her uncertainty written all over her face she asked, "I'm showing what beautifully?" She paused a moment trying to think what she wanted to say about the offer for help and food. She liked Ban'ma, she really did even if she confused her sometimes, so she didn't want to hurt her feelings by saying something nasty. "Don't think I'm not happy that you think I'm not feeling well but really I'm fine just gaining more weight then I should."
Again she paused as a terrible thought came to mind. Ban'ma seemed to be a bit more worldly then Tsu so it would make sense that she would have noticed something wrong with the petite lioness. "You don't think there is something wrong with me gaining this weight do you? I mean I don't feel like there is anything wrong but then again I did my best to avoid others when I was growing up so I don't really know how to spot problems." she asked worriedly.

Ban'ma's ears pulled back as she tilted her head. Why was Tsubame so confused? It was almost like she didn't- "Oh my goodness." She gasped. Hurriedly she covered her mouth with a paw. She didn't know! But how couldn't she? Did she live under a rock?
"No, no! Theres nothing wrong with you." She persed her lips. How could she explain this without causing Tsu to panic? The slender lioness wasn't used to explaining the ways of life to others. Usually they just knew. Taking a deep breath, Ban'ma scooted over to Tsubame's stomach and leaned her head over onto it. Sure enough, she felt movement. Slight, but it was there. "Nope, nothings wrong with you, so you don't have to feel scared." She smiled up at her.
"Tsubame, I know this is embarassing, but I need you to answer it, alright?" Her voice was soothing and low as she rose up. "Have you and Achal..." She rolled her eyes up, embarassed herself. "Urm...have you...physically bonded?"

Tsubame was wary about wither or not Ban'ma was telling the truth when she said that nothing was wrong. It wasn't that she didn't trust the other lioness but it was the way she gasped at first then kept repeating that nothing was wrong. Wasn't that what others did to reassure those when there was something seriously wrong?
When the other lioness leaned over her stomach Tsu did not move but watched her curiously and with only a shadow of worry still in her eyes, it was after all the place where the most problems seemed to stem from. She relaxed a touch when Ban'ma smiled, Tsu knew that the other lioness knew what was going on even if it was something really bad and if you knew what was wrong then you knew how to fix it.
"Physically bonded? Oh, you mean mating! Yes. Haven't you?" At first Tsu didn't understand Ban'ma's question or how it pertained to her current issues but she answered truthfully. "Well that's what Achal said we did but he is a male and I have a feeling that he didn't explain it quite right." Tsu was talking about how she once asked him what a mate was and all he really said was that the time they spend locked in a loving embrace or as Ban'ma put it 'physically bonded' meant they were mated. Tsubame was horribly ignorant of the ways of the world.

Ban'ma's eyes widened and her cheeks darkened. "W-well...yes, we have." Since this was an honest discuss she figured it was best to put all her embarrassment about the issue aside. After all, it was what made babies and Tsubame had a right to know.
"Wait, I don't think we're talking about the same thing." Feeling still like it was too private, she leaned in and explained the 'mating' process. "I don't know if thats what you were talking about, but..." She cocked her head to the belly. "thats obviously what you did. When you do that, you have a good shot of becoming pregnant. That explains your aches, pains, cravings and any...mood swings?" It hit her to walk around that one delicately. Though she hadn't seen anything drastic, that didn't mean that she wanted too.
"Congragulations! Your going to be a mom."

Tsubame was intrigued when Ban'ma flushed when admitting that she had mated with Achal, Tsu didn't realize how embarrassing a question like that was. But she became confused when Ban'ma said that they might be talking about two different things but her confusion cleared up when she quietly explained. "Well yeah that's what I meant but I always thought being someone's mate was more then just physical." Tsu looked questioningly at Ban'ma before looking away and adding quietly, "But its not like I had anyone to ask besides Achal and while I think he did his best to explain I still feel like there should be more then just the physical."
She spaced a bit until one word caught her attention, pregnant. "But... but... I..." not knowing what exactly to say she could do nothing but look at Ban'ma while her emotions showed clearly on her face; shock, fear, worry, denial. In no way did Tsubame feel she was ready to be a mom and now it seemed that choice had been taken from her. "There is no way I'm ready to be a mom!" She blurted out as got to her feet to start pacing. She stopped pacing when a thought hit her. She turned to Ban'ma and said "I don't even know what to expect."

"Oh, it is, I was just clarifying." Being a mate was something someone decided on a personal level. Of course, not every couple mated for love and sometimes it was just the physical, but not Ban'ma or her harem mates. That much she knew for sure.
She smiled sympathically and leaned against Tsubame, snuggling up close for a quick embrace. "It's alright. Your mated and while he might not have said he, he loves you and you love him. Thats a proper matehood." She nodded.
Ban'ma squeeked in surprise. In a bit of panic she flitted her eyes to the sides. Tsubame was supposed to be happy, not scared! "Of course you are!" She encouraged, watching her pace with growing concern. "You were watching cubs before I got here all on your own. Of course, thats not the same as birthing them, but thats not the point." She murmured the last sentence to the side and shook her head while getting up on her paws. "Look, all you have to do is breath in and out. Like this." Ban'ma practiced the common birthing breaths. "And push when it's time."

"I know he loves me just as he loves you and Maua and the cubs... It's just..." Tsu trailed off not knowing how to explain how, for her, love was not always something that kept a family together, that love really was a foreign concept for her.
Tsubame returned to pacing, it was true that she was watching the cubs before Ban'ma got there but with the injury that she had to her paw that was all she did, watch them. Then Maua came and helped her with the cubs and while she could now play with them, and she did, it still seemed like she wasn't much of a mother. Then two more came followed shortly after Ban'ma and by that point Tsu found herself getting tired more quickly, antsy to the point that it was useless to hunt, and got flashes of irritation that scared even her. Now at least what was going on the last month or so made sense to her, it was because she was pregnant.
When she started to limp ever so slightly she knew it was time to sit down. Her right front paw always started to hurt if she was on her feet to long or she became too tired, it was a lasting reminder of her encounter with a evil green haired leopard. With a sigh Tsu stretched back out and muttered, "I guess its too late to worry about being a mom now." For her, no one really knew how she feared that she would not love her cubs as her own mother apparently didn't but she knew that at least they would have a father that loves them for Tsu has seen the love in Achal's face when he looked at his cubs, and they would have two other 'mom's' who would love them even if Tsu herself couldn't.
Placing her head on her front paws Tsu asked Ban'ma, "You'll help wont you?" she wasn't specific if was helping with the birth or with the cubs after they were born, she wasn't even sure which her self but she knew she needed help and even though it went against everything she learned as she grew up alone.

Ban'ma's frown deepened. "Baby, if you don't calm down you'll make yourself sick. Just look on the positive side." She'd seen all kinds of mothers in her time, but none that looked quite as green or upset as Tsubame. It worried her. Tonight, she was going back out to hunt and drag down the biggest son of a b***h her mouth could grasp to celebrate. Because thats what this was; a cause for celebration.
When she limped, Ban'ma couldn't help but become curious. A lasting injury? But why? Who would attack a Beybanu? She smiled sympathetically and nodded with complete support in her heart. "Of course. As long as I'm able." The lioness flex her paws to the point where her claws would have come out if she had any. Only a slight ache remained. It seemed everyone had their own injuries.
"Come on, let's go tell Achal, alright? I'm sure he'll be thrilled." She slid up and sauntered over, giving her Beybanu an affectionate nudge.

When Ban'ma agreed to help Tsu sighed again but this time it was more of a sigh of released, at least she wont be alone. Even though Tsubame was tired and revealed she still noticed when Ban'ma flexed her paws and was surprised when no claws came out. She realized that she had never asked Ban'ma about her past, or Maua for that mater, and she knew that one day she should ask so she got to know her family a bit more.
As Ban'ma suggested telling Achal Tsu's mood did a 180 and she got a slightly evil gleam in her eye. "That sounds fine with me as long as we tell him your pregnant too, I think he would go a bit shocky." She giggled as she tried to imitate what she imagined Achal would look like if he learned that two of his mate's were pregnant.

Ban'ma burst out in a fit of giggles, leaning on Tsubame for support. "Let's try it! Maybe he'll make that same face. Oh, can you imagine!" She leapt out excitedly and spun around, her long mane flopping over her right eye as childish excitement sparkled in her eyes. "Maybe we can even catch Maua and have her join in. That would really get him going."
