The rain left Tikoto in a sour mood. Not only did it wash away the scents of prey, but gave her false hope when the blood ran through the river like water. She curled her muzzle up in disgust before padding back to Abrafo's pride. Well, it wasn't really his, but she couldn't remember the name of the leopard running it.

Not that it mattered. She was here for one reason and one reason only; to ******** with her son's head. It was common knowledge to the residing birds that he'd knocked up a lioness, which would be terrible news if his mate found out.

Which brought her to her current objective. Life was about to get so much sweeter.

Nia was on her own again. Already that day she had helped to hunt down a larger prey that would sustain many in the pride and now the leopardess was stalking for fun. Maybe there would be some small snack out here that she could tear into - that was a good way to get rid of stress after all. Well maybe she would just chase it if she wasn't hungry by then.

Originally that had been the plan.

Now rain was washing over everything and Nia realized that any tracking would be useless now. So then she had started heading back towards the pride. It was then that she spotted the strange yet somehow familiar lioness. "Hey!" She ran towards the other cat and stopped with a direct glare, "Who are you and what's your business here?"

Green, orange, white, orange, pink, white, orange; black. Her eyes locked onto a little shrimpy thing with spots before she continued on. Tikoto new what the chit would look like from the same rumors she'd heard about her in the first place. Black, plain black and a leopard at that. She pranced around with her head held high, a light skip in her step before someone dared to interrupt her.

Black.

Lady Luck is a beautiful mistress.

Though she smiled, her insanity was clear through the tilt of her mouth and way her eyes remained locked on the leopardess. "Good day, yourself." Tikoto pulled up to a stop with one leg poised out infront of the rest. "Why, I'm just a lonely traveller looking for a place to rest my weary head. The rain separated me from my mate and cubs, but I can't get back to them til it stops. Do you mind if I rest a bit?"

Instant dislike and wariness filled Nia at the sight of the smile. Demon - insanity. The two clashed in her mind as she gazed coolly at the lion. "Really? Just this little downpour?" She replied calmly as she sized up the lion. Why did she look so familiar? Nia's golden eyes flashed with sharp curiosity even as she plotted.

Best place to attack would be the hind legs...

"It's not my place to tell you if you can rest here or not." Nia shrugged, "But there are some outcrops to our lands that have natural shelters from the rain if you must hide from the weather."

Tikoto pouted. "Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't know you were retarted." She nodded to herself, summing that up to the leopardess' stupidity before pointing to the swollen river. "I can't get across that and you can't either unless your a goddess."

Even as she stood she was drinking the water that rain down from her mane like blood. It was in her nature to lap it up with her tongue and when she'd settled down for the night, she would suck it up from her tail tuft like a straw.

"I've seen them and their nothing I'd let a vulture stay in. Say, heres an idea; why don't you take me to the dens? I've got a friend there."

"Oh. I'm sorry." Nia smiled, while her golden eyes flashing angrily. "I was hoping that you would still attempt the crossing." Her tail swished lightly in the air as she turned away from the lion. Her head turned slightly to keep the stranger in sight, but she paused at the next words.

That's exactly why you should go there. Though Nia bitterly before sighing loudly. "Here's another idea. Tell me who your friend is so I can get them for you or at least so I can direct you to them." If she even really had a friend in this pride.

She had cubs here. Nia's guard was definitely not going down because of a 'helpless' stranger wanting to rest.

Orchid orbs narrowed into gemmed slits as her aggrivation mounted. Obviously the one female in the world that her offspring would get with would be a prude.

Still, the situation was deliciously sweet. She slithered around Nia with her head cocked to the side and down, a sweet smile on her face. "I'm sure you know him quite well, though I have to say that my earlier story was false. It's not a friend I'm after, but a son."

Leaning in beside Nia's heard, she hissed, "Ab-ra-fo," popping each syllable before cackling and walking on towards the pride.

Her tail lashed low against the ground. Irritation that nearly led to the leopard's attack turned into quick surprise. Shock, utter shock. Nia just stared after the lion. Abrafo? Her Abrafo? The love of her life? Son? Seriously?!

That crazy hag was Abra's mom?

Joy. Nia took a deep breath before pounding after the lion. She wasn't about to yell wait or try to reconcile with the lioness. Rather a scowl formed on her features as she tailed Tikoto.

Through the corner of her eye she noted with pleasure that the little chit was following her. That only added height to Tikoto's trot, lifting her head that much higher into the beating rain.

"You know," she called back, flipping her red tipped tail up around her back, "I've heard that I'm a grandmother, did you know? Time passes so quickly~"

Of course she wasn't talking about her step-grandchildren, but the plot had to boil before sending it into the fire. Taking a turn, she waltzed straight to the dens like she owned the place.

Nia nearly froze at that statement. Maybe she meant step-grandmother? The leopardess could only hope despite the sinking feeling in her gut. Something told her that such news would only make the lioness in front of her happy if it was a pain to others.

She was afraid to ask.

But she did. "Ah, yes. Step-grandmother you mean right?" Right? Nia's mind was screaming at the lioness to lie, to smooth the truth. She closed her eyes in silent contemplation before slipping into the dens after Tikoto.

Tikoto's insides purred with sweet release as she hopped over a boulder. The leopardess was smart, that was for sure. If she left things as they were the seeds of doubt would grow to a tree of betrayal, but she was never one to do such things.

Tikoto was too persistent.

"I'm not talking about your bastards," she said flippantly. "I mean my son's children. Of course, their not here yet or they'd have your brats rooted out, wouldn't they?" She cackled, looking back over her shoulder with a grin before disappearing around an embankment.

"Hey." Nia growled softly under her breath. Going so far to call her cubs bastards - now that was pushing a button. The next sentence to leave Tikoto sent up alarms but the leopardess pushed those down as well.

She had always known that it could happen.

Abrafo had been away for that period of time after all. But Nia who would normally lash out or hang her head in severe pain had reconciled with him recently. Too recently for Tikoto to harm them. So she decided to pull against the tide, "Oh! I didn't know that Abrafo had other brothers." Nia purred pleasantly as she hopped after Tikoto - it was a sickly sweet sound. "I bet he'll be pumped to hear that he's an uncle now~"

The lioness trotted to a halt as she over looked a valley of sorts where her son was talking to another hybrid. They ran rampant over these lands, and while she detested them, they had their uses. He was so deep in conversation that neither feline would notice the females.

"Aren't you just cute." Tikoto chirped, curling her maw up in a half-snarl. her tail coiled around her like a prized cobra waiting to strike. "He had them, or has them, I'm not for sure anymore. So far as I know he's the only one left alive. So, their his. With a pretty, pretty striped lioness." She added point to the last word before turning on her. "An eye for an eye."

Nia's eyes instantly found Abrafo. Something soft and hidden flickered in her gaze before her mask of absolute calm came over her. A feeling of faint, though torn amusement flooded her chest as she watched the mother-in-law. Nia nearly grinned. It seemed like something or someone was making the lioness a bit upset.

Abrafo the only one alive? Nia sighed. Poor cub. All those memories threatened to assault her had she not been on her guard against this female. "Oh. A pretty striped lioness?" Nia's heart lurched but she forced herself to remember that special night.

"That must mean some adorable cubs." The leopard found herself smiling lightly at Tikoto, "I do wonder if he'll bring them in? I love stripes too - I'm sure my cubs will love to have others to call younger siblings." Her golden gaze went to Tikoto, and a cold hardness showed there despite the dripping warmth. "I guess Abrafo was going to tell me soon, but thank you for letting me know. I wonder if he knows about them himself? Hmm..." Nia's tail twitched with curiosity. How would he feel to know that he was a father now?

She actually laughed. "An eye for an eye! We're perfectly even now!" The leopardess nearly bounced on her paws. Certainly the facts hurt, but she didn't mind. Abrafo was with her finally now and nothing could tear those new feelings apart. This especially made her happy.

Tikoto nodded proudly, her coy grin only widening like the chesire cat. "She's gorgeous, from what I hear. I might just have to go meet her. Want to tag along?" She looked over her shoulder, her mouth making a little 'o'. "Oh, I suppose not. Your probably too busy."

Looking down at her son as he chatted it up was like looking into the past. She couldn't remember what his father looked like, but that mane gave it away. "I doubt she'll even tell him. A lady of her caliber wouldn't be caught dead in this place." Tikoto tilted her head back in a cackle. The laugh tore it's way through her scraggly body, breaking forth in a stream of giggles. "Best of luck to you dear. I should be on my way. My pet's worrying himself sick over me."
