Van'kal laid on his back on a nice soft patch of snow. He was sure to keep close to the family after the time he'd wandered off. Being cold and alone with out his brother had not been fun at all. Now he was sure to stay with in sight of his family.
The lesson was wearing off though. Vankal wandered further and further away with each passing day as if he'd forgotten what happened. Couldn't hardly blame him though. The boy's domain was innocence after all. The bad memory was just fading away.
But back to where we were in our story.
The boy laid flat on his back watching the sky above. One day he wanted to touch that sky. It wasn't that far away after all. Vankal pawed upward at it.

Judeau could have never forgotten that day, he remembered it as if it were yesterday. The cold, the loneliness, the fear, he remembered it all. It seemed there was little he ever forgot unlike his carefree brother, perhaps a trait he have envied if he'd better understood their domains.
He had kept close to his brother's side since that day, any attempts from sibling or parent to separate them having been met with adamant protests. They had been close before, now they were inseparable, the little god finding in himself an overwhelming need to protect his brother. They had to be together, always, how could he protect Van'kal if they weren't together? How much that need would grow as they did, as they came to understand who and what they truly were.
Head titled curiously, he watched his brother from a short distance away.
"What're you doing?"
As he spoke, Judeau had risen to his paws, head lowering to butt at his brother affectionately.

Vankal pawed at his brothers paw. His seemingly perma smile got all that much more brighter when Judeau was around. Though , Judeau was always around. Vankal wouldn't have it any other way.
The cub giggled, "Im trying to touch the sky. Its harder then it sounds." He rolled on his belly and went for his brothers ear. Nomnomnomnom. Van couldn't help it his brother just made him so happy.
The lion let the ear go after a while.
"What are you doing Judeau Bug? You want to see if we can touch the sky together?" Van lowered him self in a play bow, his rear sticking up high and his wings spread out.

Judeau gave a small squeak, rearing onto his hind paws to playfully pounce at his brother, a soft smile on his maw. If there was anyone who could ever bring a smile to his face, it was Van. When he was with his brother, Judeau could never be sad.
Draped over his brother, Judeau looked up at the sky, pale blue eyes searching the vast expanse. It seemed so close and yet so far away stretching on as far as he dreamed to see; it was so big, and he was very small.
"It looks so far away."
Or maybe it was already so close they had already touched it. To the mortals below it may have seemed the godlings had soared far beyond the reaches of the sky, maybe they had.
Judeau's tail twitched at the thought, could the sky be everywhere? All around them?

Vankal laughed, "We can touch it can't we?" He pawed at his now drapped over brother. "We can touch it together if we stand on each others backs."
Van looked back up at the sky and smiled. To him it just seemed so far away. No deeper thought went on his head other then maybe catching a cloud.
"You think daddy can touch the sky? Do you think maybe he can bring part of the sky home for us to play with?" He pawed upward at Judeau.

"I don't know, maybe."
It was a silly idea, a childish fantasy, father could no more bring them a piece of the sky than they could reach out and touch it. Somewhere in the back of his mind Judeau knew this. Yet it was a fascinating idea, or maybe it was just that he didn't wish to tell his brother otherwise.
It was Judeau's turn to nom on Van's ear, one paw batting at his nose. Sky or no sky, he had his brother, and for Judeau, that was better than owning the world, sky, or the stars.
But he had to wonder, could father touch the sky? To him his father was larger than life, he could do anything. Perhaps that was just how all cubs saw their father, an all powerful protector, an ever present warmth, the one who knew all the answers, a god. (okay, so in their case their father really was a god).

Van'kal squealed with delight as his brother nommed on his ear. The cub tried to swat at Judeau but his aim was a little on the off side and he managed to slap him self in the face. That didn't bring the youngster down though. It was near impossible to make Van'kal cry if he was near his brother.
In stead of tears, the cub errupted in a choir of giggles. It was so much fun, the thought of the sky had vanished to the back of his mind almost as if Van had never even had the thought to begin with. Now his thoughts were on swat swat. Take that! Attempted to swat back, but again his aim was not all that good. Mainly because he was having to much fun laughing.
"You're to good at this game Judeau~ " Some how Van'kal made a whine cheerful. "No fair!" He giggled and swatted more.

Judeau only answered with a smile, his head shifting one way then the other to avoid his brother's paws. This way, nope, that way, nu-uh, denied. It wasn't that Judeau was better at the game, he simply had the advantage of position, and an attention span longer than a goldfish.
As if to emphasize this point, thawp, his own paw came down right on top of Van's head.
But it wasn't any fun when the game was one sided, and a moment later Judeau was on his paws with a squeak, hoping a few steps away before turning back to face his brother, tail twitching over his back.
It was that playful side that only his brother was able to bring out in the often somber little cub. Come on, brother, chase me!

The cub squeaked some and rolled back on to his feet. It took him a second to realise what was going on again. Oh play time! Bring it on brother!
Van crouched down to the ground, a playful mad grin on his maw, as he eyed his brother. Wild west music could have been playing in the background to set the mood right. The moment intensified.
And then the chase began as Van, wings spread and tongue out the side of his mouth, kicked off toward his brother.

Whoops, here he came!
With a squeak Judeau turned, running from his brother as fast as he could, weaving one way then the other. Well, at least he was trying too, but small cub paws and snow did not make for the best traction, an attempted turn sending him sprawling into a snow bank.
"Yipe!"
Face first in the snow, the little cub nearly disappeared but for the blue tip of his tail. Oof, his head popped up, shaking the snow from his 'mane', with a grin.
Uh-oh, Van was on him! A squeak, he jumped from the snow bank, looking somewhat like a rabbit as he did, and turned to face his brother, rearing onto his hind paws to meet him head on. The game of chase had turned into a game of pounce.

Vankal was having so much fun chasing his brother. He loved to play games with Judeau best of all. Sure, others were fun to play with but-- oh where'd he go? Judeau was gone in a flash, but a second later... Pounce attack?
Van smiled and continued his charge. He Pounced and, not really paying attention, rammed his head against his brothers. Van fell backwards into the soft snow below.
He laid there for a good moment before slowly getting back up. Owwie. Snow clung to Van's coat giving him a powdered donut look.
"Judeau...?" He shook his head to scan for his brother. Tears formed at the edge of his eyes.

Judeau had leapt forward, he was gonna get him! He was--
THUD!
His head had collided with his brother's, sending him sprawling backward into the snow. His eyes closed tight, wincing at the impact, ow, that had hurt. A paw went to his head, ow, ow, ow. Okay, so that had not been a good idea, horns made for hard heads!
It was a few moments later that he had made it too his paws, stars still flashing in his eyes as he looked for his brother. Oh, there he was.
"You have a hard head."
Or maybe it was his head that was hard, either way, that had really hurt! But he was okay, nothing was broken.

His brother was alright! OH GODS! Van was so happy that he stuck his tongue out playfully at his brother.
"Your heads harder~" He sung in a sing song type of way. He was just so happy. The cub launched his self from his now pit and ran, awkward, through the snow toward his brother. Van giggled all the way forgetting he had just had a nasty blow to the head. The small god just wanted his brother.

"Is not."
That was just silly. His head wasn't any harder than Van's, how could it be? They were twins, and he was pretty sure that made Van's head just as hard as his was.
Uh-oh--oof!
His thoughts lost, the little god was sent sprawling backward into the snowbank once again, tumbling under his brother's pounce. A happy squeak, paws reached upward to bat at his brother's nose and ears.
Well, it didn't really matter who's head was harder did it?

Vankal batted downward at his brother playfully. There was nothing that could get that perma smile off his face when he was near. The littl god finally rolled off his brother and rested on his back.
He was back where he had started looking up at the sky.
"Judeau.." He panted. Playing was hard work after all. "Do you think we'll ever touch the sky?"
