How to install sims 1 custom skins?

Please help me with this. I started playing sims 1 recently and....
I LOVE THAT GAME!!
I got some really cool "skins" from some sims websites that specialize in anime-ish stuff. At first i thought it was wierd that outfits were called skins, but i figured out why. Its probably because you choose them in CAS and then you cant change them in the game(can you?), then they make up alot of your sims appearance. Just like you cant change skintones after you choose them in sims 2 or 3.

Anyway, heres the problem. After downloading so much, i realized something. I dont know how to use them in the game. How the heck do i install them? I have this big folder full of CMX files and SKN files, buti dont know what to do with them. Is it as simple as just putting them in the Skins folder?

Another thing, how do i install custom heads? Do those go in the same folder as the skins? That would make sense to me, since there the same filetype. Thats how it worked in sims 3, you put all the sims3packs in the same folder, but im new to sims 1. I just wanna know if its different.

Then theres the NPCS i downloaded. When i extracted Mahoro.zip (some anime NPC), i got a people folder with a file called maid.iff
I think i should put that folder inside this folder.

It's honestly been too long since I've played the original Sims for me to remember where to put stuff but I did find this on TSR;

That at least tells you where to put the skin files.

Usually the site you downloaded the stuff from should give you instructions on how and where to install.
