Fresnel uryu ishida TomTom units have this functionality. You have to "friend" each other on BOTH units. It's just a GPS. Woo. Doesn't even have an American charger. I think Boost Mobile phones can do it too. And to boot, does it just show dots on a black screen, or a topo? There are pretty cheap handheld GPS units for hiking and stuff that use satellite images or topo maps, though I don't know about how many let you see other units.
