Burilda had been getting pretty good at this, at sneaking out with out her sister finding out, with out Xion catching her, with out her mommy noticing. And to be honest, she was pretty proud of herself. Sure, she was still a cub, but she was a pretty sneaky cub, and on top of that, her demon had stopped talking to her after mommy had yelled at it... life was good! She smiled to herself as she as she snuck around some bushes, something she normally did, she may have been brave enough to leave the cave, but she still wasn't brave enough to walk far from it. At night, she could hear the other lions, roaring and carrying on, and to be honest it was kind of scary. She knew they were fighting, or at least... that's what she thought; cause Xion always came back with another cut or two.
Burilda raised her head out of the bushes and looked back up at the cave, her sister had yet to come looking for her, she was probably doing something else, for right now... A small lizard caught Burilda's eyes, and in an attempt to catch it, she followed it's fast movements in the opposite direction of the den, out into the open; with out even realizing where she was going.
Devya lay in the darkness enjoying the night, soon he rise and patrol, but for now he watched the moon and the stars tinkle in the night sky. Dev could feel himself doze slightly when he heard a noise.
Instantly he was awake and on his feet, scanning the area to see if someone was near. He listenly quietly waiting for another noise to come to his ears.
Burilda let out a small child like yowl, trying to bat at the lizard and smack it around, she'd watched her mom take down gazelles, and watched Xion snatch up hares like it was nothing, but she couldn't even get a lizard! She let out a victorious "HA!" as she finally got the tail of the lizard, only to have it break and the lizard get away. "Awe!" She let out, a disappointed pout on her face, she looked down at her paw and flicked the tail away creeped out at the fact that it was still wriggling around! "ew~" She stuck her tongue out at it and looked around, and then it dawned on Burilda... "uh-oh." She was lost and much closer to the main dens than she'd ever been.
The yowl caught Dev's ears instantly and he moved toward it. It seemed as though it was just a noisy cub playing in the night. He come up behind her when her heard her utter "uh oh". He smiled lightly and tried to keep himself from laughing.
He really did not wish to frighten the cub, but he currently did not see anyway around it.
In a calm even tone he simply said, "Lost?"
Burilda looked up, turning around with wide eyes, her fur standing on ends. Her mouth open, her tail hiding somewhere between her legs. She lowered herself to the ground and staring up at the big lion in front of her. "Uh... uh... uh...." She muttered at a loss for words, not sure what to do. She looked around, hoping her mommy would come out of nowhere and scoop her up, but she was already out and doing her rounds. She gulped and looked back up at him, and nodded her head. "Uh-huh.... I'm lost." She told him in a small voice, even if he probably already knew.
Dev shook his head at the young ones respond to him. He was very large, nearly the size of a firekin, due to him ancestory, but he did not think he was truly that scary. Though he himself was a truly fearless cub.
"You really shouldn't wander to far from the Yana'hine or you den. Is your mother back at your den?"
Burilda shook her head, he hadn't tried to eat her up... maybe he wasn't a bad lion. Not that any one had told her bad lions ate you... She really was strange she thought to herself as she ran between his legs, hiding there from any others. Maybe just becuase he was nice, didn't mean that the others were. She looked up at him, practically clinging to his leg. "My mommies out doing her duty." She puffed up a bit, proud of her mother as any little girl is. "My mommies a guard!"
Devya looked down at the cub that was now hinding beneath his. He frowned slightly. For a demon she was a rather fearful thing. "You need not hide, no one else is around and I wish you no harm. You really should be more cautious, though I would suggest as a demon that you not show so much fear. Fear is a thing that is easily taken advantage of."
[21:03] Shizu6616: Devya wandered if it was good advise for a moment and figured to leave it at that for it was not unwise or untruthful. Dev gave a small smile to the cub as she spoke of her mother, but shook his head. If her mom was out, he was not sure if she be taken back to her den or off to a Yana'hine (nanny). "Is your father in out as well?"
Why shouldn't she be scared? She'd never left the den yet... this was a scary world when the male that took care of you had so many scars from his own pride. But this male didn't have any scars... she wondered why. She'd never asked about it before, she doubted that she would ask now. "oh..." She replied finally, walking out from beneath his paws, feeling embarrassed or as if she'd just gotten in trouble. She looked around, should she tell him where her den is? What would happen if she did? "I don't have a daddy, but I have Xi."
Devya arched a eyebrow at the cubs demeanor, but said nothing more on the subject. The cub was still young yet with so much to learn. He did not wish to be to hard or her. He nodded when she partically answered his question, but he knew it would need to asked again. "Xi, huh? Well then is Xi back at your den, or really anyone for that matter?"
Burilda nodded though she wasn't sure what was going to happen next, was he going to take her back and tell on her? She didn't want to get in trouble, she didn't want to make her mommy sad. She looked around nervously, and pawed at the dirt beneath her, not wanting to meet his gaze, finally, she nodded her head. "Xi's there... I snuck out...." She finally admitted before looking back up at him with a pathetic little girl look on her face, "I'm not gonna get in trouble am I?"
Devya sighed lightly, glad to know someone was in the cubs den. He was certain it was closer than the Yana'hine dens and he would rather not take a long trip. He did after all have duties to attend to. "You should not have snuck out, but fear not I will take you back. As for trouble, that is not for me to decide. I will not say for I do not know." Devya came a little closer to the cub, "I just need to get your scent and then I can find my way to your den easily."
Devya felt a bit nostalgic thinking about the time when he'd been in the exact same situation as the cub in front of him now. That had been before this pride, before knowing of the demons. "What is you name," he asked as he gave her a sniff.
Burilda pouted sadly, she was certain that Xi was going to yell at her and tell her about how dangerous it is to wander around on your own at this age. Or atleast that's what her mom would say... She let him sniff ehr and then pawed at his face, pulling it down with out using her claws and sniffed at him too. Not sure what that was for really... Since she'd yet to go out to learn how to hunt. "My names Burilda!" She replied in a sort of happy peppy voice, she was proud of her name, because her mom told her it was a good name; and she couldn't help but be excited at the fact that she got to tell someone what it was. This was kind of fun now that she knew she wasn't going to get eaten! "What's your name?"
Devya allowed himself to be sniffed, it was an interesting interaction, as he'd not had much contact or really any with the prides others cubs, even when he was cub himself. He mostly kept to himself and his teachers, determined to make a name for himself. One that everyone knew. When she gave her name he nodded, "you name is very nice. I think it suits you." Devya sniffed the ground a bitsniffed around a bit until he pick up her scent and turned back to her.
"My name is Devya. I am one of the Arca'an (knights) of the pride. It is a name you should remember because someday I will be great." Devya knew he probably shouldn't boast, but he aimed to be the best demon and he would be. He looked in the direction from which her scent lead, "Come. Your den should be this way."
