when your praying, you have to face mecca everytime.
my question is, how do you know where to locate mecca from where you are, or how do you know where it is?

Well you can go on-line and find the Degrees to Mecca if you want then just carry around a cheap compass from there on in, there are also I-pod and Blackberry Applications that will tell you!
Failing that just have a good sense of direction, often ive had to make due with that.

if u know what country u are, u must look at the sun and u will know what direction Kabah is smile
Some years ago i looked at google earth. Then i figuredout that we been praying wrong way. we prayed at Tunesia (south) while Mecca was abit more east from Denmark 3nodding

and its fine if you prayed mistakenly, cause you did not know about it, Allah will accept your prayers, I had prayed to wrong direction mistakenly as well.

Having a good sense of geography helps, I think. I think most Mosques are/should be built so that you pray facing Mecca, anyway. Right?

Get a Qiblah compass.. here in America you face NE...
but yeah a Qiblah compass is the best way to go! 3nodding

I use American interstates 3nodding Like I live near I-20 East, well, the high way goes east, so i pray that way and turn to my left slightly. If I am in an unfamiliar place, i use a compass.

We used to have a praying carpet with a compass on it, lol xD
but i can look at the sun, or shadow. Then i know where Mecca is smile
